Name Calling
The Mask“Oi, lover boy, you’re next.” Luhan looked at Baekhyun who pointed at the stool in front of the makeup table. There, Xiniyi’s elder sister, Linfeng, was waiting for him with her arms crossed and a raised eyebrow. Luhan sat down and stayed still. He could feel Linfeng’s hatred through her actions.
“Oww! Jie jie,” he whined. He knew clearly why she was doing that. “Jie, I know you don’t like me as Jinah’s boyfriend, but can you at least tell me why?” She pulled his ears and he grimaced in pain.
“Hurt Jinah and I swear, I will skin you alive myself.” He wanted to laugh, but her piercing gaze shut him up.
“Yes, ma’am.” He saluted and she just sighed. She still didn’t trust him. “What am I supposed to do to get your approval?”
“Run around the studio .”
He heard Chanyeol laugh and Luhan made a face at him through the mirror. “With a banner saying, ‘I’m an idiot’,” Baekhyun added and he tried to grab him without moving too much or else his makeup artist would kill him already.
“Jie, I’m being serious here,” he pleaded.
“Why are you so desperate to get my approval anyway?” she asked.
He didn’t plan on looking serious, but it just turned out that way since his answer was serious. “You’re the closest to her since she doesn’t have a family anymore. I know that you and her friends are more like a family to her. I need to get an approval from her family, right?” His answer was loud enough only for her to hear. He didn’t want the other guys to hear it knowing they would just add useless comments.
She didn’t answer for a while. She seemed like as if she didn’t know what to say. “Jinah has been through a lot. I just don’t want her to get hurt more. How are you going to take care of her? That’s my biggest worry. How are you going to deal with your sasaeng fans? Do you have any idea how hard it is for her to cover up the bruises that she receives every day – “ Finally sensing that she just spilled something she shouldn’t have, Linfeng clamped shut.
It hurt him inside that he didn’t know how often the bullying was happening. Another side effect of being in a group was that he couldn’t let Jinah move in with them. It would stir trouble and unwanted rumors. They had enough of that and he didn’t want her to suffer more if possible.
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. He didn’t know if the other people inside the room heard it, but every movement and sound made just seemed to be more audible.
“Luhan?” a soft voice called and his lips twitched into a small smile and it was as if his worries had been lifted up. Linfeng stopped putting makeup on his face and let him turn his head to look at the angel approaching him. He spread his arms, wanting a hug from her, but all he received was a pat on the head. “Really? A pat on the head? What am I, a seven year old?”
“Don’t complain, hyung. I told you, she just doesn’t love you,” Kyungsoo teased and Luhan put his hand up to throw a makeup brush on him, but Jinah caught his hand in time. She looked at him scoldingly and Luhan reluctantly put his hand down. “I told you, she loves us more than you.”
He groaned as his face received the final touch ups. “It’s because you guys are here that’s why I didn’t get a hug.”
“No, you just love skinship so much,” Sehun added.
‘I swear, these guys love to get on my nerves.’
“Skinship
