Confronted
The Mask“What do you want?” Jinah asked, trying to hold in her anger and annoyance.
The guy shrugged his shoulders and smiled at her. “Just wanted to see how your boyfriend would react.”
“Youngho, stop playing around! Do whatever you want, but leave Luhan out of this!” she shouted, even if she was feeling so small around the guy. He could control her and tarnish her image with just a snap of his fingers, but she didn’t care about that. She was worried about Luhan. He was innocent. He had nothing to do with her past. She should have listened to The Reds.
‘Never fall in love. You are not allowed to fall in love because once you do, he’s going to be tangled in this mess and his life would be in danger as long as they are still around.’
She received all the warnings she could ever have before, but it didn’t matter to her that time on what her future would be. She was so young and naïve back then. She never knew that a person would mean that much to her that she would willing to sacrifice and protect him with her life. She had never been that scared before.
“Such a pity that he doesn’t look at you the way you look at him,” he stated. How she wanted to disagree with that, but what he said was nothing but the truth.
“That’s not a reason for me to stop caring about him. It’s not a matter of who cares for me and who gives me importance. It’s what I feel and what I want,” she answered bravely, thinking it would shock Youngho, but she had underestimated him big time.
“Like I don’t know that.” He chuckled and shook his head. “You are known to be ridiculously brave and strong and that tempts me to play with you more.” He put a strand of her hair behind her ear and she flinched at the sudden contact. She knew he was just taunting her. She looked at him straight into his eyes, but he just took it as a look of fear.
Chuckling more, he kept his hands to himself and sighed. “I wonder if he would still accept you at least as an acquaintance when he finds out about your past – someone with a rough and dark past.” He kicked the pebble on the ground and looked at her. “You have nothing to offer him. You have nothing except for your fake identity and fake background. Funny how the truth is the exact opposite of what people knows you as.”
She was helpless. She was astounded. How could the truth hurt so much? How could a past destroy everything you’ve earned and gained through living as a new person and starting a new page?
“You-“
Before she could even avenge a lame comeback, a voice disrupted them, “You should leave the girl alone, Youngho. We’re done with you,” Kevin disrupted them and put a protective arm around her shoulder.
Youngho just laughed mockingly at them and she could feel Kevin tremble in anger. If they stayed any longer, things would go out of hand as he might lose his temper to Youngho.
“Let’s just go.” She tugged on Kevin’s shirt and he snapped out of his anger for a while.
Youngho turned his back against them, but without saying one last thing, “Be careful on who you side. You’ll never know who is stabbing you behind your back.”
Before he could go any farther, the door slammed open and revealed a sweating and panting Luhan whose face couldn’t be descripted on how tired and annoyed he looked. Her jaw slightly dropped. It felt like a drama with these three guys with her in one room. Th
