Late night talk.
The Played Playboy“You okay?” Jeongmin asked as they drove to Yoorin’s house.
“Hm,” she grunted, staring out the window with glazed eyes.
“You’re feeling bad?”
“Yeah…” she said quietly. “It’s obvious he’s hurt and I obviously can’t turn a blind eye and just ignore this. I cared about his once upon a time and that can’t just simply disappear.”
“I know,” then the both of them turned quiet, the only sound were the low music coming from the radio. Jeongmin started to quietly sing along to it as he tapped his index finger on the steering wheel.
She turned and stared at him, an inevitable smile forming on her lips. Turning back, she rested her head on the cold glass window and closed her eyes, focusing on the soft voice of his.
They arrived at the house around ten minutes later. Yoorin stepped outside and bent down slightly so she was at eye level with Jeongmin in the car, “I’ll call you, okay?”
“Mmhm,” he nodded.
She leaned in. He smiled and pressed his lips to hers.
“Yoorin? Honey, is that you?” A voice from behind the both of them called out.
Both of them jumped and turned to where the voice had come from and their eyes widened when they saw Yoorin’s mother standing there. “Gotta go,” she said quickly, turning to give him another quick peck, but after she pulled back he went in for another one. And another until it turned into this little kissing war.
She laughed and placed a firm hand on his chest, “I’ll call you.”
Jeongmin chuckled and watched her as she ran back to the house. He looked past Yoorin and saw her mother standing there with a stern look on her face, and then he saw that her dad was stood right behind her and was grinning widely, giving Jeongmin a thumbs-up in approval. He let out another small laugh before shaking his head and driving away.
He drove past his own apartment building and to the café that was open all night just down the road. As soon as he had parked and walked towards the cosy looking place, he could spot him right away.
“I should’ve know purple would be in the list since you were once pink,” Jeongmin said as he pulled the chair back and sat across from L.Joe.
“What can I say?” He smirked, sipping his cup of hot drink.
“We saw you, you know?”
“You did? You and Yoorin?” He raised his eyebrows.
Jeongmin nodded, “She didn’t recognise that it was you though, since we only saw you from the back.”
“You didn’t tell her I was there, right?”
“Of course not, you told me not to.”
“Good.”
“But I will have to tell her sometimes, though. And you should see her sometimes; I know she’d love that.”
L.Joe looked down and wrapped his hands around his cup, “I don’t know, it’s just been so long.”
“Well, you can think about it later since you can come and see her anytime. Anyway, you walked out of my place pretty late, you must’ve stayed for a while.”
L.Joe groaned inwardly, “Tell me about it, that kid sure has a thick skull.”
“How did it go, anyway?”
Shrugging, he said, “I did my best and I think I said everything that needed to be said but the rest is up to him to understand.”
“Say,” Jeongmin crossed his arms and leaned forward. “Don’t you think he’s a little different as to how we remembered him when he left? I mean, I know two years can change a person but I thought that change would turn him into a… I don’t know, a more mature person?”
L.Joe nodded in agreement, lifting his cup up an
