Isn't it strange how it can be bright and sunny in his ocean city, but dark and cool and rainy in a whole different place, at the exact same time? Sometimes when Tao is lying in bed trying to fall asleep he'll think about this: the existence of whole different kinds of worlds in one world, and he’ll feel himself sinking into that quiet, rainy darkness. And he’ll be at peace.
