All in White

Marrying Cinderella

“Sunhwa, I’m suffocating,” I said as I came out of the dressing room.

I was wearing a really skimpy red tube cocktail dress that completely takes my breath away…literally. There is nothing in this dress that I like.

“What are you talking about? It’s great,” she said, glittery eyed.

“Let’s just stop this. I don’t think I can come with you to the party,” I told her while I started to the dress.

“No. Definitely not. You are coming with me…”

“But nothing I wear fits your preference. What’s wrong with you anyway?” I said, going back to the dressing room. “Can I, for once just look for something that I like? I think I had enough of your skimpy little red dresses.”

“Hey, my choices are great…”

“Greatly skimpy, greatly short, and greatly tight, you mean. Seriously, I can’t breathe in this last dress you picked.”

A few seconds of silence came after.

“Then what do you want to do?” Sunhwa finally asked.

“Thanks for asking,” I said sarcastically. I heard a snort. “I’ll come out of this dressing room in my comfy clothes and look of the dress that I think will fit the occasion.”

“But…”

“Hey, no buts please,” I cut her off. “If you want me coming in this party, you better zip it for a while and let me pick out a dress on my own.”

I came out of the dressing room with Sunhwa’s pout welcoming me out. “Fine,” she said.

I smiled and walked to the store.

There are so many dresses in this place; why on earth would Sunhwa only pick the skimpy ones?

I scanned through racks and racks of dresses. One finally stood out.

It was the perfect dress, I think. It was a white cocktail dress with a matching gold silk belt. The upper part of the dress was lined with a flower patterned lace that covers the shoulder to the hem, I think, will fit nicely down until above my knee.

“Perfect,” I whispered to myself.

I went back to the dressing room where Sunhwa saw waiting. “See, you don’t have to pick out red skimpy ones…”

“But that’s out-dated white one…”

“It’s beautiful,” I said.

“That’s…” she said. She looked at it closely. Her eyes glittered again. “White…” she whispered.

“Yes, white…and elegant and…”

“Perfect.”

What is wrong with her? One minute she was obnoxious, the next minute she’s all-in for the dress. I didn’t get it. I’ll let this one pass before another hell of dress-fitting breaks loose.

I fitted the dress and it was a perfect fit. I stepped outside the fitting room and showed Sunhwa.

“Alright,” she smiled. “It’s alright.”

“See; not skimpy, not red. But perfect.” I admired it for another minute before asking Sunhwa, “So, what are you going to wear?”

“I have something at home,” she said while touching the lace hem of my dress.

“Heechul, you look terrible.”

Leeteuk was approaching with a bottle of water in his hand and a silly smile on his face. What gives?

“I’m okay…just nervous.”

I look around the room where we were staying. Each and every Super Junior member is in the room, wearing black tux and black ties. They literally look like waiters, apart from me. I’m wearing a freakishly white tux and I don’t know why! Leeteuk made me wear it. He said, “It’s perfect for the occasion.” Yeah right!

“Just relax; everything is all set on the rooftop.”

“I can’t believe it?” I whispered.

“Believe what?” Leeteuk said. Apparently, my whisper is still loud enough.

“Me, this… it’s unreal.”

“You said it, bro.” Leeteuk can’t wipe the smile off his face. Annoying as it may seem, it comforted me a little.

“Are you not going to be mad?” I asked him, smirking.

“Mad about what?”

“Me, getting married sooner than you. Honestly, Leeteuk, were not getting any younger.”

“I’ll have my time. It’s Yerin that I’m worried about.” Leeteuk’s smiled wider.

“About what?”

“She’s marrying you.” Then, he laughed.

I punched his arm jokingly, but exchanged a smile as well.

I know that Yerin is the one, I know she is. Nothing’s going to change my decision. Even if ELFs will hate me, or product endorsements won’t come to me, or audience will hiss on my performance, I don’t care. All I know is, I’ll have these 12 idiots by my side and an angel to cheer me on no matter what.

“Hyung, there almost here,” Donghae said from across the room. “Sunhwa texted just now.”

I stood up, heart pumping fast, and said, “Let’s get this party going.”

“It’s on the rooftop of this hotel,” Sunhwa sid when I asked about the venue yet again.

“Are you sure about that? Isn’t it going to be cold up there?” I asked, unsure.

“It’s going to be fun.”

We’re on our way to the elevator when…

“Geez, I forgot my phone in the car,” Sunhwa said.

“But you were texting just now…”

“In the car, I was texting in the car. I left it there. I have to get it.” Sunhwa was already on her way out of the hotel. “You go first.”

“You’re kidding me, right?” I glared. “I was not invited in this party. I’m just the plus one. You can’t be serious?”

“Oh, come on,” she said, stopping a few feet away. “You’re in a cocktail dress. There’s no way they’re not letting you in. If they don’t just wait for me there and we’ll go together.”

She started to walk again before I say anything. I sighed. This is definitely a bummer for me. I might get a few drinks with this stressing day.

I went to the rooftop. Thank goodness the elevator reaches it. I can barely walk in these seriously tall heels. Remind self: Kill Sunhwa later. The elevator door opened and I was shocked to see someone I shouldn’t be seeing right now.

“Good evening, Miss Shin,” the tall guy greeted, his killer smile widened when I stared at him wide-eyed.

“Siwon…” I managed to say. “What in the…”

“Please follow me, Miss Shin.”

He offered a hand. I hesitated.

“What is this? This is some kind of a joke?” I glared.

He smiled. “No. Please come with me.”

Reluctantly, I reached for his hand. He guided me to a very long corridor. Silence was in the air.

It’s totally awkward. What is going on? Siwon is wearing tux and is all manly and gentleman. I’m seriously getting rid of the idea that this is a date. I seriously hope not; Heechul will kill me and he’ll definitely murder this poor creature. This is not a date! Remind self: Kill Sunhwa the second time.

“Where are we going?” I finally asked.

I saw him smiled. “Just you wait.”

At the end of the corridor stood two guys, who appeared to be wearing the same suit Siwon was wearing. It’s Sorry Sorry tux era all over again.

“You look beautiful, noona,” Eunhyuk said, his gumy smile showing.

“Wonderful,” Donghae also said.

I couldn’t help but blush. “Thanks,” was my only reply.

We stood at the end of the corridor. Before Eunhyuk and Donghae even had that chance to open the double door that was separating us and roof deck, I let go of Siwon’s hand and grabbed Eunhyuk’s and Donghae’s.

I, again, looked pissed. “What is going on?”

“Calm down,” Donghae just said.

“Calm down? Yeah right. What are you guys doing here?” I asked. “This was supposed to be a party that Sunhwa was invited in.”

“Well, yeah, we invited her.” Eunhyuk still smiled.

“This is not even funny anymore,” I told the three of them and looked them in the eye, one by one.

“You know what?” Siwon said. I looked at him intently. “Just brace yourself.”

Donghae and Eunhyuk again reached for the door and pushed it gently. I gasped. Cold Seoul air wafted to my skin. But the air was not the reason why I gasped. It was the glorious surprise that was about to hit me in the face.

The roof deck was back-dropped by the city’s lights that were simply captivating. The edge of the deck was decorated by what seems to me thousands of little white lights and hundreds of flowers. There was red carpet laid out on the floor and Super Junior members were lined up on one side, smiling at me. And like polite little school kids, they greeted, “Good evening, Miss Shin.”

But my eyes were fixed to the very corner of the roof deck, where a table was set up, a bunch of flowers stood at the center. There he was, wearing the same shade of white I’m wearing. He smiled clumsily, like he didn’t know what to do.

“Hi,” I thought he said.

Siwon gave me a gentle tap, signaling me to go forward. Step by step, my heart pounded.

She looked amazing, like I pictured her to be. I’ve always known that she’s beautiful, but her beauty tonight was exceptional. It’s so hard to put on a poker face and not smile at the angel standing right ahead of me. I was amazed.

Siwon tapped her shoulder and she made her way towards me. I can feel my heart beating faster and my knees getting weaker. The wind suddenly feels way colder as I feel myself shiver a bit.

I saw her smiling at me now, and it feels like I’m in heaven. My smile went even wider. This is definitely way better than that of receiving an award in a music show.

She stood in front of me, still keeping her beautiful smile.

She asked, “What’s all this?”

“It’s all for you,” I answered.

She looked around with wide eyes, examining the place with wonder and surprise. I can see in her face that she’s amaze yet confused.

“It’s our official first date. Do you like it?” I asked.

I crossed my fingers behind my back and hoped for the best.

She looked at me. Her smile faded. “You did all of this for me?” she asked.

I confidently said, “Yes, it’s all for you.” And she smiled again.

“Actually,” Leeteuk butted in, “I…”

“Don’t you say another word or I’ll kick your face ‘til it melts.” I glared at him.

Leeteuk stupidly smiled.

“What’s going on?” Yerin asked, confused, looking from me to Leeteuk.

Some of my members laughed, some smirked. Shindong yelled, “Ah, hyung! Just tell her WE made all this stuff.”

“Yerin, don’t you even believe what they’re saying,” I walked towards her. “They’re just a bunch of waiters in our date. They did nothing.”

She smiled. “I don’t know. It’s pretty convincing to me.”

Then, magic happened. She wrapped her arms around my waist and whispered to my ear, “Thank you. I love all of these.”

Silence was exchanged. I looked at Leeteuk and I saw him nod.

“We’ll get the first course, and we’ll be back in a few.” Leeteuk led the group out of the deck and into a room opposite the deck where they kept the food. By the way, the food was catered ‘cause there’s no way I’m letting those monkeys cook.

I wrapped my arms around Yerin. “I want this day to happen so bad before. I can’t believe it’s happening right now.”

“Want me to pinch your cheek so you’ll know it’s true?” she asked.

“I prefer a kiss.”

She nudges away a little. “What?” he left eyebrow shoot up.

“I was…well…I’m…”

She smiled. “I get it. It’s okay. But…maybe later. I want to eat first.”

“O-okay. Let’s sit down, my lady,” I said, leading her to her chair.

When we’re both finally comfortably sitting, her face changed from happy to concerned. “Where’s Sunhwa?” she asked.

“She’s probably inside that room with the others,” I said, pointing to the room where my members are at.

“Oh…” her lips formed a smile. “She’s probably having the time of her life. She’s inside with your group so what’s the harm.”

“Huh?”

“She’s a diehard Super Junior fan, remember?” she said. “So all of you guys plus Sunhwa…set all this up?”

“Yup. All for you,” I replied.

“Don’t say that. I don’t want to think that you’ve been through all this trouble for me.”

“No, no, no. No trouble at all,” I said. “Besides, it’s not like those idiots are not gonna eat the leftovers. There’re loads of foods inside.”

“Okay,” she said hesitantly.

“Don’t you worry, just concentrate on me and everything will be fine. Besides, all I want tonight is for you to be happy and a little bit of hope that you’ll put all your attention to me.”

She smiled. “Don’t you worry about that. You’ve already had my attention with all the white,” she said will waving her hand in a circular motion towards my chest.

“Urgh, Leeteuk made me wear this,” I slammed my back to the chair.

“And you look wonderful.” Ah~ I couldn’t help but smile.
