When my world turned dark, I was burnt out cold. Black.
I was a small flame of fire that was clinging onto its last portion of life on a wood, just waiting for someone to throw another log in before I burn out like being consumed by water, turning the coals into worthless, black materials and the wood parts into useless ashes.
There was a sense of chilliness that traveled through my veins in the next few nights of darkness. It was piercing and shrilling, yet there was a tone of calmness in the drift of its silent motion.
Her voice, to me at first, was a distant star, something I could see so clearly and brightly yet it was wandering so far away. It soon came to me like a soft whisper breathing on my ear, not exactly the vibrant voice I imagined after all, but I was satisfied enough even though there was always a sense of huskiness and roughness in the tone of her whispers whenever she was near. In honest thoughts, she wasn’t the perfect, strong light in my night, but she was a comforting gesture that told me to steady my heartbeat in the atmosphere of my unidentified emotion.
“Don’t leave,” I told her, slowly rubbing my forearm from the cold as dawn is rising upon us like the event of a sudden encounter of a dangerous predator.
“I can’t stay,” she replied, sitting a few feet away on the bed from me
