My mother never replied to anyone. She was always rocking on that chair the hospital provided for her. To and fro the squeaky, old chair went, creating patterns of earsplitting squeals from the aged wood it was made in.
She never talked again, after being hospitalized for lung cancer. I wasn't sure, but maybe it was because of the trauma that she couldn't breathe in and control. With that, she lost all abilities to speak or maybe she just didn't want to anymore.
I understood her motionless actions. When being diagnosed with a terminal disease, who would want to put up the effort for doing anything anymore? You're basically dead, decaying and rotting....
I took care of my mother every day after hearing she had only three months left at the most. I constantly visited her, fed her, aided her everywhere. In my dedication to bring my mom's health back up even though it was basically impossible at that point, my girlfriend left me.
I wasn't hurt though. It was for the better that Nicole left anyway.
