Part 12: “Morning Sickness & Misunderstanding”

 

 

Yunho awoke by the sound of the flushing toilet. With his eyes closed; his hand naturally flew to his right side as if he’s searching for something. He was hoping the warmness and the soft murmur from another as their skin brushes each other but unfortunately all he could feel is the cold empty spot along with the crinkled bed sheet.

 

Alarmed, he shot his eyes wide open and bolted straight up.

 

“Jaejoongie!”

 

“Jaejoongie!” He raised his voice louder as he threw the blanket away from covering his legs.

 

“Here…I’m in the bathroom!” Jaejoong shouted back at him. Sensing something’s wrong upon hearing his weak voice; Yunho jumped from the bed and hastily ran straight into the bathroom.

 

“Omo Jaejoongie!”

 

He found Jaejoong sat weakly by the toilet, both of his hands were holding onto it for support. The color bleached out from Jaejoong’s face except for his eyes and his nose that turned redder than usual.

 

“What’s wrong?” Yunho clasped his hand on Jaejoong’s forehead to check on his body temperature.

 

“It’s nothing…” It took Jaejoong a huge effort to just push Yunho’s hand from his forehead.

 

“What do you mean by it’s nothing? You look terrible…” Yunho emphasized it while helping him cleaning up.

 

“Well…I feel terrible…” Jaejoong conceded.

 

His hand slipped down from the toilet bowl as he made an attempt to stand up. Refusing any help from Yunho, he soon regretted it when he fell down back to the cold tiles.

 

“Argghh…!” His knees were directly hitting the floor causing him to yelp in pain. Jaejoong pulled his leg up, hugging it close to his chest, his teeth were chattering.

 

“Jaejoong-ah! Are you okay?”

 

“Do I look like I’m okay?!! Of course I’m not!!” Jaejoong exploded and Yunho was stunned by it. He couldn’t even bring himself to apologize when Jaejoong suddenly burst into tears.

 

“It’s hurt..it’s really hurt…!”  

 

“Where? Where is it?!” Yunho’s back on panic mode.

 

“My foot Yunho-ah…My foot…cramp and it’s really hurt…” With his hand gripped tightly at Yunho’s arm, Jaejoong breathed out and bit onto his bottom lip.

 

The grip on his arm tightened when Yunho moved Jaejoong’s leg to let it rest on top of his laps. He could feel like Jaejoong could just tear apart his flesh with a little bit of push; it’s really hurt but he had to swallow the pain down because he knew Jaejoong probably feels even worst.

 

Without sparing any minute, Yunho quickly massage Jaejoong’s foot.

 

“Better?” Yunho asked when he sensed Jaejoong’s tensed muscle slowly loosening up.

 

Resting his back against the wall as he’s inhaling a breath, Jaejoong nodded. Yunho let go off Jaejoong’s legs, giving the latter a chance to breathe properly. The feeling of sympathy overlapped with concern and he’s not even trying to hide it at all.

 

This man before him is someone who he dearly loves. Even words wouldn’t be enough to express how much he really loves him. It might sound cliché but he sincerely would do anything just to ease the pain and share that burden together. Yes, it better him to feel the pain rather than Jaejoong but certainly not sitting there feeling useless like that.

 

It took Jaejoong off guard when Yunho suddenly scooped him off his feet and carried him out of the bathroom.

 

“W-wait! Where are you bringing me to?!! I need to get ready to work!” Jaejoong didn’t even have the strength to break free and if not, he would have just jumped off.

 

“You’re not going anywhere! Have you looked at yourself in the mirror? If I didn’t know you better I’d say that you’re a ghost!”

 

“That’s harsh!” Jaejoong retorted and then pouted.

 

“The point is…you don’t even have the strength to walk, what more to work…” Yunho’s statement got Jaejoong lost point to argue. Yunho was right. He rolled his eyes and relented bitterly.

 

Yunho lowered him down gently on the bed and covered half of his body with the blanket.

 

“The only thing that you’re going to do today is resting” Yunho stated as he’s adjusting Jaejoong’s hair. With a heavy sigh, he straightened up.

 

“Maybe I should take a day off as well…” Yunho’s thinking aloud while eyeing Jaejoong.

 

“No, you shouldn’t…you don’t have to do that for the sake of me…” Jaejoong voiced out his disagreement while shaking his head.

 

“But you’re sick…”

 

“It’s morning sickness Yunho-ah…what do you expect?! This is what you’re going to see for the whole month, in every morning…so I’d suggest you better get use to this…unless you want to take a leave for the whole month…”

 

“Don’t you ever think about it!” He gave Yunho a stern warn when he saw how Yunho looked like he’s considering it.

 

“Now, go get ready…”

 

“Okay okay…I’ll go to work…but you have to promise me one thing…call me if there’s anything happen…”

 

Jaejoong nodded and sank his head back on the pillow. He just closed his eyes when he felt a soft peck on his forehead followed by a whisper of ‘I love you’ from Yunho.

It was 15 minutes before 8 when Kyuhyun just finished having his breakfast; a routine that he’d always make sure that it was strictly observed. And just like the previous days, he’d be among the first one standing at the front row, waiting for the elevator. While holding onto a cup of ice Americano in his hand, he had to bear his ears listening to his fellow co-workers ranting at the back and even gossiping; particularly the girls.

 

“I don’t know whether or not I should tell this…but…” One of the girls looked around first checking the line as they gathered closer than before.

 

“I went to the hospital couple days ago and I saw our Director Jung together with Jaejoong-shi…they looked so suspicious…very intimate…”

 

“Ah…now that you mentioned it…my husband did ask me about their relationship once before…if they’re dating each other…and I told him that they’re not and the fact that Jaejoong-shi is already married with our lawyer Shim. He told me that he witnessed it with his own eyes – Director Jung kissed our flower boy…”

 

“Omo~ it can’t be right? You’re not telling me that Jaejoong-shi is cheating on Lawyer Shim…he’s a good person!”

 

“Well…it’s hard for me to believe it too…but it’s possible, right? I mean…they frequently spend their time together…Jaejoong-shi is unearthly gorgeous and it makes sense if Director Jung falls for him…”

 

“Jaejoong got married with Changmin?” Kyuhyun frowned hard.

 

“Since when?”

Changmin pulled the case file out of the shelf and moved toward the desk.

 

“So you’re coming all the way down to my office just to ask that question?”

 

“I just want to know the truth…wherever I go everyone’s talking about it…”

 

And one would be surprised how fast the rumors spread and circulates all over the departments. The more you heard, the more ridiculous it becomes not to mention that it came with variety of versions. But what makes it more frightening is that, everyone just kept on falling for it.

 

Changmin wrinkled his brows, thinking that it was ridiculous as he’s looking at Kyuhyun.

 

“I know that it’s not my problem to interfere and I can understand it if you’re hiding from everyone…from me…” Kyuhyun’s gaze followed Changmin’s movement.

 

“I mean…we’ve been there before…we hide our marriage – when we’re still married to each other…”

 

That put Changmin’s work on halt. He definitely don’t like where it’s going.

 

“That’s because we’re still young and our parents disapproved our relationship…it’s a reckless decision and we acted basely on our emotion…I’m telling you, if Jaejoong and I got married for real, there’s no reason for me to hide it…” He missed the sad and offended glint of Kyuhyun’s face and continued where he left.

 

“So you’re saying our marriage is nothing but a mistake?”

 

Dropping the file on his desk, Changmin rolled his eyes and turned around.

 

“No! You’re the one who said that before, remember?”

 

Kyuhyun pursed his lips. Yes, he does remember. In the heat of anger, he did say like that.

 

“I came here just to remind you…because I care…everyone’s talking badly about Jaejoongie – how he’s cheating on you with Yunho-shi…so if you’re really together-”

 

“You wanna know why our marriage failed? It’s because you relied on what other people’s talking too much…Jaejoong and I…we’re not in that kind of relationship!”

 

“But you two live together…and the way you treats him-”

 

“Stop! Stop!” Changmin’s obviously displease by it. Whatever that came out from Kyuhyun’s mouth enrages him.

 

Kyuhyun’s words just like an oil adding up to Changmin’s boiling rage. Just couple more drops and it will set up a huge flame.

 

“Why did you bother coming here anyway if you didn’t even believe with what I’ve just told you? And if you really care, you’d notice that there’s someone else who treats him better than I do…but then again, it’s not like you’re going to believe me…”

 

“What I’m trying got say it-”

 

Kyuhyun’s body jolted when the pen suddenly flew from Changmin’s hand, hitting the screen of the computer. Luckily it’s just a tiny slim pen. If it was his thick hardcover law book, it probably would have smashed the screen.

 

Changmin stared at Kyuhyun like he’s never seen him before. Kyuhyun’s throat tightened.

 

“Just stop…” Changmin said firmly, his eyes hinting it as a final warning. His voice came out deeper, the tone that he’d normally use in court.

 

“If you want an answer, I can give you the answer. But why complicate thing when we can just ask them…”

The smile played at the tip of Jaejoong’s mouth as he’s checking his reflection on the mirror provided in the elevator. His golden brown hairs were hidden by the hoodie of his white color jacket and he wears big stylish glasses with no lenses to compliment his looks. With a satisfaction hum, he patted his flat tummy. In couple more months, all of his pants will surely no longer fit him.

 

“Better enjoy everything while I still can…” His shoulder lifted and fell with a happy sigh.

 

He started his day with a terrible morning sickness and crappy moods. His whole body ached and he thought all the energy has been out so he had no choice but to spend his morning on the bed.

 

But everything changed after he woke up. He became extremely energized, healthy and fresh. It’s unexplainable and certainly a new experience for him. He just hoped that he can find a way to toughen up soon, don’t want to start his early pregnancy by taking continuous medical leave.

 

Now that he’s feeling great, he’s thinking to make a surprise visit to his husband.

 

There’s a sound released as soon as the door slid open. He walked out of the elevator and instantly spotted the newly hired PA, Min Hyo Rin across the floor. She just came out from Yunho’s office and began walking toward her desk when Jaejoong stepped in her path.

 

“Hyo Rin noona…” He greeted her with a cheerful expression and slightly nasal tone.

 

“Jaejoongie~ I was informed that you’re taking a medical leave today?”

 

“Flu?” She took a guess.

 

Jaejoong compressed his lips thinly and rubbed his nose with his fingers. He nodded shyly. If only she knew that it’s more than just a simple flu.

 

“Was it really obvious?”

 

She responded to him with laughter before answered.

 

“Just a little bit…so why are you here?”

 

“I’m feeling okay, so I’ve decided to stop by at the office to discuss about Jeju project with boss…” Actually, he’s planning to ask Yunho out for a date. The Jeju project is one thing on his mind but he can still talk about it at home.

 

“You should rest more, Jaejoong-ah…don’t get too work up…your health is more important….”

 

Jaejoong could only nod while lowering his head. She got a point. If it’s before, he’d pushed himself a little bit more even if he’s sick but right now, it’s not just about him. He needs to be extra careful for the sake of their baby.

 

“So, is the boss in his office?”

 

“Yunho-shi went out to the project site…” She tipped up her arm to have a quick glance at her watch.

 

“…but he should be back in any moment…”

 

“And Junsu-shi?”

 

“He’s in his office. He said that he doesn’t want to be disturbed unless it is VERY important like someone would die if he doesn’t meet him…he’s really strict so I’m too scare to even sneak a peek…”

 

Jaejoong bit his lower lip, preventing himself from laughing when he heard her statement of how strict Junsu is. He doesn’t need to guess to know that Junsu must be lazed around thinking about how to save Rapunzel.

Jaejoong pushed the door slowly; his eyes scanned the area as he’s searching for Junsu. He’s expecting him doing something out of ordinary again but to his surprise, he’s not. The place is clean without a single mess. No candy and chips wrappers lying anywhere on the carpet, there’s not even food leftover on the table.

 

His suit jacket hung on the back of his chair, his sleeves both were folded up and his eyes fully fixed on the computer screen. The clicking sound repeated as he moved the optical mouse to a different direction. Then several lines formed on Junsu’s forehead right after his hand stopped.

 

Jaejoong never saw that other part of Junsu before. He was so engrossed in his works that he didn’t even realize there’s someone standing at the doorway. Jaejoong let go of the knob, stepped inside and closed the door as quietly as possible.

 

“Junsu-ah..you’re too busy?”

 

“Hyung~!!” Junsu’s eyes stung, shined as soon as he saw Jaejoong’s standing before him.

 

“Of course not~!” He ran out dragging a chair then placed it next to him.

 

“Hyung….come, sit here~” The unexpressed excitement evidenced on his face as he patted the seat.

 

“What are you doing? You looked so serious that I was too scared to even say hi…”

 

Junsu sat down back on his chair and titled the screen a little bit to his right side so that Jaejoong could see what he’s up to.

 

“I’ve found an interesting site…they sell these really cute baby clothes…” Junsu curled his fingers and his voice hit the squeaky pitch trying to express how cute they are.

 

“Aww~ this one is really cute~~!” Jaejoong pointed at the elephant shape romper.

 

Right at that moment, Yunho walked in coolly, his face’s displaying a charismatic look despite having out of synch heartbeats when Hyo Rin told him about Jaejoong.

 

“Yunho-ah…you’re here?” Jaejoong looked. Yunho replied him with a simple hum, suppressing the urge to go running and hug Jaejoong.

 

“What are you doing here? You’re supposed to rest at home…” Yunho spoke with a soft tone, his arm wrapping around Jaejoong’s shoulder.

 

“Don’t worry, I’m feeling better now….”

 

Yunho clasped both of his hands on Jaejoong’s elbow and pulled him to his feet. Jaejoong stepped away from Yunho and twirled around once.

 

“See? I’m looking great and I’m feeling great….”

 

Yunho nodded and showed a small smile, approving it.

 

“Besides, I came here to ask you out for a date…”

 

Yunho’s face brightened up when he heard the word ‘date’.

 

“A date? really?”

 

“Emmm…to a bookstore…” His hand pressed on his stomach as he’s mentioning the bookstore. Yunho saw it and immediately understood the purpose of going there. They need to gather the info about the pregnancy so the bookstore would be the right destination.

 

“But only if you’re finished with your work…”

 

“Then we’re good to go now…” Yunho exclaimed.

 

“Seriously…?”

 

“Yes…I’m planning to finish my work as soon as I can so that I can go home early to accompany you…that’s why…”

Jaejoong received a phone call from Changmin and went down first. Yunho on the other hand will join him right after he finished confirming his schedule for the next day.

 

He suddenly became the centre of attention the second he reached by the lobby. Jaejoong noticed the looks everyone’s giving him and it’s really hard for him to act normal when everyone’s staring at him like that.

 

“Is there something wrong with me?” He couldn’t help but to wonder what and why.

 

Plainly guessing, he dragged his hand to his hair to check if there’s anything stuck on his head before it moved to all over his body – tracing the rip or tear at any part of his outfit. When he didn’t find any, he directed his confuse to all people around him, checking is they’re still staring at him.

 

Avoiding making an eye contact with him, all of them pretended like they’re busy with something.

 

“What the hell…?”

 

“Jaejoongie~!” Changmin’s voice however succeeded in distracting him from focusing on that matter. He spotted Changmin together with Kyuhyun standing nearby the exit and gave them a small wave, slowly quickening his steps.

 

“Look at him…smiling happily at Changmin-shi like nothing happened…”

 

“It must be really great to be able to manipulate other people with his face…”

 

“WHAT THE HELL YOU GUYS WERE TALKING ABOUT?!!!”

 

Junsu’s high pitch voice blasted throughout the lobby gained their attention; especially Jaejoong.

 

“Junsu!” Turning around, his eyes met Yunho’s eyes who happened to be in the same condition like him – shocked with Junsu 180% change of attitude. It didn’t look like he’s joking at all; he’s furious.

 

“WHO THE STARTED OUT THIS KIND OF RUMOR? SINCE WHEN JAEJOONG HYUNG GOT MARRIED TO LAWYER SHIM WHEN HE’S ALREADY MARRIED TO MY HYUNG?!!!!!!!”

 

A hot rush of blood crept up Jaejoong’s neck almost at the same time the crowds gasped.

 

“There you go; you finally got the answer…” Changmin said to Kyuhyun.

 

“Though I couldn’t see this announcement coming…”

 

“Junsu-ah…”

 

“THEY’RE TALKING BADLY ABOUT YOU TWO, HYUNG…TELL THEM THE TRUTH, YUNHO-HYUNG! JAEJOONG-HYUNG!”

 

 “Jaejoong hyung? Are you okay?” Junsu asked, his voice lowering in concern.

 

Jaejoong held his temple, felling nauseous. He couldn’t believe it. He knows that someday, everyone will find out about the truth behind their relationship. He just hoped that someday wasn’t that day. Oh how he wished that it’s all just a part of his dream; that he wasn’t actually at the company but still lying on the bed at home.

 

“Jaejoongie!!!” Yunho’s voice rumbled and Jaejoong’s lying down on the floor.

Preview for the next chapter: “Secret Admirer”

 

Their secret was laid out in the open and thanks to Junsu, Yunho’s wish finally fulfilled. On different note, Jaejoong’s becoming more attractive thanks to his pregnancy. Due to that, a secret admirer appeared?

Jaejoong just fainted; throwing them in a turmoil state.

 

Yunho: *cradled Jaejoong’s body on his arm* Jaejoong-ah…wake up…Jaejoong-ah…please…don’t do this to me, please…*on the verge of losing his mind*

 

Jaejoong: *peeking through his one slanted eye, checking the current situation* Like hell I want to wake up…I’m too embarrassed to even look anyone in the eyes
