I live on the very edge of a suburb. Behind my backyard is miles of forest. When I was in my early teens I would lean onto the fence and watch the sun go down over the trees. One summer evening, just as the sun went down, It grew incredibly cold, much too cold for an Arkansas summer. Then, I heard the laughter of a little girl. And then I saw her. A little girl with short curly red hair in a nightgown, skipping through the tall grass. The only problem was that she didn't have any legs. She was just a translucent torso bouncing past me for a few moments, and then she dissapeared. For the rest of that week, I heard giggling throughout my house.
