The Notes II

Love Language

A half an hour walk and a short bus ride later the two boys found themselves in front of the infamous boba tea shop. It surely was quite a ways to go just for bubble tea, but for the both of them it was worth it. It was obvious they both had other reasons for wanting to go. Although Daehyun managed to keep his a little more discrete. Himchan on the otherhand, once he had gotton past the teasing, was talking nonstop about his newfound love. "Yongguk this--" and "Yongguk that--", it was beginning to get on Daehyun's nerves. By the end of it Daehyun was sure that he knew every little detail and aspect of said persons life, even down to what color underwear he would wear for the specific days of the week. He shuddered at the memory.

He wasn't exactly too thrilled to be told things that specific and he was positive those kinds of things should never be mentioned to someone he didn't even know. He had yet to even talk to Yongguk, unless you counted, "Um..I'll have taro milk tea please." as a conversation starter.

But hey this was Himchan he was talking about here. And everything you told Himchan wound up coming out again in some way, shape, or form. Daehyun mentally crossed his fingers and hoped that whoever this Yongguk guy was, he wouldn't mind having his personal life spilled to a total stranger.

Although he was more than glad his best friend had found someone to be happy about, there was only so much he could take of Himchan's 'love-sick puppy' aura. Daehyun closed his eyes and softly massaged his temples as he felt a slight headache starting to form.

Himchan...one day you're going to talk me to death. Seriously. He reopened his eyes and gave one last tiny little sigh. He hoped that Himchan wouldn't catch it, fortunalty for him Himchan was still too caught up in his own little world fantasizing about a certain deep-voiced, gummy-smile cashier.

The both of them were standing in front of the small shop. Himchan was bouncing back and forth. His nervousness clearly showing as he rolled  on the balls of his feet and occasionally bit his lip. His eyes darting back and forth between the door and the sidewalk in front of them. Already mentally exhausted Daehyun gave an over exaggerated sigh.

"Hyung, would you stop being so bouncy? You make it seem like we're going to get kidnapped at any second." He shook his head a little.

Himchan gave Daehyun a pointed look. "Yah, you would be nervous too if you were in my position." He went back to biting his lip.

"What if..what if he didn't mean for yesterday to happen? Or he thinks I'm just some kind of crazy stalker...or- or he doesn't even like me?!" Himchan's voice was getting higher by the second. You could hear the hyperventilation starting to happen.

"Hyung!" Daehyun shouted, officially claiming Himchan's attention. He gave a deep sigh and shook his head. "He won't. If I remember correctly you just spent the last hour telling me all about this Yongguk guy. I even know what color underwear he wears according to the day!" Daehyun threw his hands up. "If he's willing to tell you something that personal...trust me he wasn't planning on forgetting you."

Himchan stopped rolling on his feet and let his bottom lip out of the grasp of his teeth. Daehyun turned to face him and spoke up again. "I don't know if he likes you or not, you're going to have to find out for yourself. But if he's willing to talk to you about all those things I think it's safe to say that he considers you a friend, maybe even more. Don't go assuming things so fast."

Himchan looked back at Daehyun and slowly a smile crept its way onto his face. A soft laugh left his lips. "Daehyun...for once I hope you're right. Thanks."

"Of course." Daehyun smiled, then blinked. "Hey! What do you mean 'for once'?" His lips scruched together to form a frown.

Laughing Himchan dragged a somewhat annoyed Daehyun forward towards shop doors. "Nothing...nothing" he chuckled. "Now come on!! Bubble tea doesn't wait forever!" A creepingly bright smile was plastered in the middle of his face.

Daehyun gave a small 'humph', but let himself be dragged in by an excited Himchan. He wasn't planning on staying long anyways.

Himchan reached out and grabbed the handles of the double glass doors. They opened with a small tinkling sound.

"Hello there and Welcome to--Himchan you're here!"

The said person pratically ran up to the counter. "Gukkie!!"

Gukkie? Daehyun raised his eyebrows in amusement, then broguht his hand up to stiffle a laugh. Man Himchan is never going to hear the end of this. Meanwhile Himchan was pratically snuggling the life out of the tall owner, who by some miracle managed not to collapse from the impact of Himchan's hug.

"Ahh I've missed you Gukkie.."

Himchan felt a deep rumble against his cheek and he looked up to see Yongguk laughing softly. "I missed you too Channie...but we just saw each other yesterday."

"But that was a whole 24 hours ago!" He complained, pouting his lips slightly.

Daehyun looked on with a mixture of amusement and embarassment, he was sure they had forgotton about his exhistence. Gukkie? Channie? Oh gosh...now I remember why I left yesterday. But he stole a glance at the two and smiled. At least you look happy hyung.

He looked away and gave a small cough. Himchan suddenly seemed to remember that his best friend was standing there in the shop with him and he immediately stepped back with a slight flush visable on his face.

"D-Daehyun...This is Yongguk." He coughed and gestured to Yongguk. "And Yongguk this is Daehyun."

Yongguk smiled and held out his hand. "Hello there Daehyun I've heard a lot about you from Himchan. It's nice to officially meet you."

Daehyun smiled back and walked up to grab a hold of the outstretched hand. "Oh really?" Daehyun glanced over at Himchan, but turned back immediately, "Well it's nice to meet you too..." He trailed off.

Yongguk understood and pipped up a response. "Yongguk...just call me Yongguk."

Daehyun gave another smile and relaxed. "It's nice to meet you too Yongguk." He felt a little awkward not adding the appropriate honorific after the name, but it wasn't something he minded.

Yongguk gave another throaty laugh and swung an arm over Himchan's shoulders, "Thanks for always taking care of my Channie. It seems like he can be a handful at times."

At the mention of his name Daehyun could see from the corner of his eye that Himchan blushed. He gave a mental laugh. "It's nothing really. We're good friends I'm supposed to take care of him." He shot Himchan a playful look, but his eyes remained soft. "Or rather he's always taking care of me."

"Well I'm glad that he has a friend like you. He deserves it after what happened--"

"Okay!" Himchan spoke up. "Now that introductions are over let's get what we came here for yeah?" He gave Yongguk a look. Slightly startled Daehyun glanced over at his friend confusion clear in his eyes, but he didn't speak up.

Yongguk closed his mouth and looked back at Daehyun. "Ahh...Can I get you anything?" he asked flashing a smile.

Daehyun, although distracted answered Yongguk's question. He tore his gaze away from his best friend. "Oh no it's alright. I just came to see Himchan off and say hi. I know he was eager to come here again. I was just about to leave."

"Oh? Where are you headed?" Yongguk questioned.

Before Daehyun could answer Himchan spoke up for him. "He's going to meet somebody special that he met yesterday. I think he's going to confess." Himchan remarked smiling slyly.

Now it was Daehyun's turn to blush. He pointed an accusing finger at the black haired male. "Yah! Kim Himchan don't sprout nonsense. I haven't even told you anything."

"Hey show a little respect to your hyung!" Himchan shot back.

"How can I show you respect when you barely have any yourself hyung?" He shot back. It was hard for Daehyun not to laugh. Sometimes teasing Himchan was a little too easy. He could see the annoyance starting to show on his face.

He turned to Yongguk and spoke. "Don't listen to anything he tells you. I'm just going to meet up with a friend that I met yesterday."

"Ahh alright than. It was nice meeting you Daehyun. Let's talk more soon." Yongguk stuck out his hand for another hand shake.

Daehyun took it gratefully and stepped back. "Yeah, it was great meeting you too Yongguk. Hopefully we'll get the chance talk again. Have fun you two!" With that he strolled toward the door and waved his hand up for a 'goodbye'. The bells gave a soft ring as the doors closed.

As soon as the doors closed Himchan spoke up again. "Aish that Daehyun...always knows how to get out of telling me things. He doesn't even tell me anything more."

Yongguk turned and gave Himchan a gentle look. "I could say the same about you.........you haven't told him yet...have you."

Himchan stopped talking and looked up. "No." he sighed.

"Hmm..." Yongguk wrapped his arms around Himchan's waist hugging him from behind. "You know you're going to have to tell him eventually right?"

"Then I'll tell him when the time is right, just not now. I'm supposed to be helping him, remember?" Himchan gave an aggrivated sigh and closed his eyes.

"So I'm taking it he has no idea..."

"Aren't my acting skills convincing?" Himchan tried to joke. "But he's a good person, thats why he doesn't need any more burdens."

Yongguk didn't say anything more about the matter, but continued to sway slowly back and forth. "Channie..." He started. Himchan looked up and he was met with Yongguk's famous smile. "You're amazing, you know that?"

Himchan chuckled and shook his head. "It took you long enough to realize."

Ring

Ring

"Well better late than never right?" Yongguk smiled. "Just don't forget what I said." He bent down and gave Himchan a peck on the cheek. He lightly unwrapped his arms from around Himchan's waist and went to greet the customer.

A smile played on Himchan's lips and his eyes were full of adoration and gratefulness. "Thank you Yongguk." He whispered.

ͼ

"If I remember correctly it should be around here..." Daehyun muttered. He stopped in front of a four-way stop that he was sure he passed by minutes ago. He looked around and scratched his head in confusion. "Aish...how can I get lost again? I swear I had it right."

Daehyun was starting to worry. What if the boy had already left or wasn't even there in the first place? Or worse, what if the boy didn't even remember him? After all he was just some random stranger (more like creeper) that asked to borrow his pen. Daehyun didn't even know the boys name, just the fact that the boy had bright auburn colored hair that blended perfectly with the fall scenery.

With his head still down Daehyun turned a corner when he realized the cracks on the sidewalk started to look vaugely familar. He lifted his head and at once his eyes were met with the same red, yellow, and orange scenery he saw yesterday. A bright smile lit up his face.

Yes! I finally found it.

He gave himself a mental high five. Nothing had changed from yesterday. The floor was still covered with a mirage of autumn colored leaves, the trees, although bare from leaves, still held their own strange beauty, and even the little benches, conveniently placed, seemed to be left untouched. There was only one little flaw from the scene in front of him and when his eyes spotted it, his smile drooped ever so slightly.

But wait....he's not here. Daehyun's hopeful eyes scanned the park, but when they found nothing he sighed in defeat. Maybe I'm just early.

Not one to give up easily Daehyun stepped off the concrete path and heard his feet make contact with the leaf covered ground. He went over to the same bench that he saw the boy on yesterday. Hoping that somehow sitting there would help in some way. Once he reached the small bench he sat and slipped off his backpack. He tucked the little grey bag between him and the bench arm rest and leaned one of his elbows on top.

Daehyun ran a hand through his hair and let out another sigh. He looked around restlessely, wondering if he could miracously spot the mysterious boy. After scanning the park again Daehyun fished through his backpack to pull out the same grey notebook he used yesterday, might as well look like he was doing something other than just sitting at a bench staring. He flipped through the pages mindlessly trying to keep himself occupied with the various drawing located inside, looking up occasionally to see if he could spot a certain somebody.

Another sigh left Daehyun's lips. It looks like all I can do is wait and see if he comes.

Half an hour turned to an hour and an hour turned into two. By then Daehyun was on the verge of heading home. He looked around and reached to check his phone for the nth time. He sighed. Maybe...he's not coming today. Just as he was about to put the phone back into his pocket he heard the seat next to him creak slightly. Daehyun froze and turned his head.

There sat the boy he'd seen yesterday. He wore the same white headphones and carried the same small journal, and as usual his auburn hair seemed to blend in perfectly with the scenery surrounding them. The boy sat down and turned his head to meet Daehyun's eyes. He gave a small smile and nod, then turned his attention back to his book scribbling away.

The moment their eyes met Daehyun heard his heart stop beating. He quickly turned his head away to hide the smile that was threatening to make its way onto his face. Happiness was hardly enough to describe the emotions flowing through him at that moment. Gripping onto his own notebook Daehyun kept his head turned away and scooted just a little closer to the small boy besides him. Thankfully the small act went unnoticed, but if the boy did notice than he didn't seem to mind.

The boy continued writing and swaying his head to the song playing on his ipod. Daehyun watched the wind play in the leaves for a few moments simply enjoying the presense besides him. He turned his head again and traced the outline of the boys face. Although Daehyun was never one to judge off of looks he had to admit this boy was indeed beautiful. Even from a side view the pale, flawlessness of the boys skin looked as creamy and as smooth as satin and the boys dark chocolate eyes. Well his eyes were something else. Although they had only met eyes twice and for a brief moment, during those moments Daehyun was transported to a place he'd never known exhisted. He got lost in those eyes. They were filled with so much brightness and emotion that Daehyun felt as if he could stare into them for forever.

It took a minute for Daehyun to realize that he was staring, but he couldnt help it. This boy was something else. He was special. And although they hadn't even uttered one word to each other yet, Daehyun just knew. He's the one.

His eyes traced over the boys eyes, nose, and lips. When they finally landed on the boys hands Daehyun craned his neck to try and see what the boy was writing, but it seemed like he was too far away to really make out anything comprehensible.

Daehyun leaned back on the bench as he tried to think of a way to talk to the boy. His face broke out into a smile and he leaned a little towards the other. Hopefully this will work. He mentally crossed his fingers.

"What are you listening to?" he asked. His face was full of hope.

The boy stopped writing and looked up. He directed his gaze towards Daehyun and smiled a little. The hand that wasn't holding the pen reached up and silently pointed to the headphones connected to his ears. The boy didnt do anything more and turned his attention back to his writing.

Daehyun's smile wavered slightly, but that didn't stop him. Turning his own attention back to the park in front of him Daehyun looked down and  tried to think of another way to talk to the boy. His eyes wandered to his backpack and he reached in to put away his notebook, only to stop because something caught his eye. Putting away his notebook Daehyun pulled out a pad of yellow sticky notes and a sharpie. He was glad that he decided to carry sticky notes today.

Quickly he uncapped the black sharpie and started writing. Once he was done he placed the note in the little space between the two of them leaving the sticky note pad along with it.

What are you listening to?

He glanced away, silently praying that his plan would work this time around.

During this time the boy had paused in his writing and snuck a peak at Daehyun, only to have his eyes land on the small sheet of yellow inbetween them. He glanced over and read the note. A small but bright smile spread over his face and he quickly picked up the yellow notepad to write out a response. Daehyun glanced over, expecting to see that he had been ignored again, but when he saw the second sticky note along side his he couldnt help but grin.

A special song.

Daehyun smiled and picked up the small pad.

Can I listen to it?

No I'm embarassed.

Daehyun glanced at the last note and he couldn't help the sly look he gave the boy sitting besides him. Surprisigly the boy smiled back. Daehyun's mouth curved into his signature smile and a small laugh left his lips. Well at least we're talking.

He picked up the yellow paper and continued their conversation.

Can I at least know your name?

He placed the note down and immediately he heard a small laugh come from the space next to him. He glanced back down to see another note waiting for him.

I'm Youngjae. Yoo Youngjae.

Youngjae. So that's what the boy was called. Finally Daehyun had a name to associate with the one that made his heart beat in mysterious ways. It made him more than happy.

Youngjae huh? Well nice to meet you Youngjae. I'm Daehyun. Jung Daehyun.

Nice to meet you too Daehyun.

The two boys smiled at each other. Daehyun saw Youngjae write down another note and he followed his hand to see what it said.

Weren't you here yesterday?

Daehyun chuckled at the memories.

Yeah. I was getting away from a friend.

Why?

Well for one he tricked me into wanting to get bubble tea with him, when in reality he just wanted to flirt with the shop owner. I was forced to watch.

Youngjae laughed, his lips curving up to reveal a row of dazzling white teeth. Daehyun couldn't help but laugh along with him. It was the first time Daehyun had heard Youngjae laugh and he couldn't help but admit that he loved the sound of it. It was something he wanted to hear forever.

I'm sorry. Guess that explains why you were here yesterday. Nobody would want to come to a boring old park for nothing.

Then why were you here yesterday?

Youngjae stopped laughing and looked forward. His eyes turned soft.

Because this park is the only place where I feel like I truly belong.

Daehyun waited for Youngjae to continue.

I found this park last year, around this time too, during fall. It looked as amazing as it did back then as well. To anyone else this may seem like an insignificant place, but to me its different. Special. It's just nice being here.

Although that was all he wrote Daehyun could tell that there was something more to what Youngjae was trying to say, but he didn't want to try and pry. Afterall he had finally gotton Youngjae's attention and they were actually talking. That was more than he could have asked for. Given time everything else would fall into place.

You're not the only one. I like it here too.

Youngjae looked back.

Really now...and why is that?

Well truthfully I got lost after leaving my friend back at the shop, so I wandered. Then I happened to turn up here and well I just couldn't seem to leave after that.

Aha. Well it's nice to know that somebody else appreciates this place too.

Actually the only reason why I even stepped off the street was because I saw you sitting here.

Daehyun gave Youngjae a sheepish smile. It disappeared when he saw Youngjae's response.

Are you some kind of stalker?

No! I told you I was lost and..um..I just thought you looked lonely here so I came over to try and talk.

Uh-huh...

Daehyun was starting to get flustered, his cheeks starting to turn a light shade of red. Becuase in a way Youngjae was right, afterall he had waited pratically two hours just to see if a boy he hardly knew was going to show up. He glanced over at Youngjae only to see him smiling brightly.

Pabo...I'm kidding.

Daehyun sighed in relief.

You probably would make a terrible stalker anyways.

"Hey!" Daehyun shouted, pouting slightly. Youngjae laughed at Daehyun's reaction.

Aish...you're terrible. Remind me why I'm talking to you again?

Because you love me.

Daehyun blushed. Actually I think you might be right. He coughed and scribbled a response.

Tell me about yourself...

Why?

I'm curious?

Mhmm...for all I know you could be trying to kidnap me.

Daehyun gave Youngjae an 'Are you kidding me' look, but wrote back anyways.

If I wanted to kidnap you don't you think I would have done it already?

True...but then again you could just be waiting for the right time.

Yah!

Youngjae laughed and their little argument went on for a while more. Eventually though, Daehyun was able to get some information about Youngjae out of the boy. He was glad he got to know the auburn haired boy a little better, even if it was just a little. But it was getting late and Daehyun knew Himchan would be waiting for him back at the shop.

I'd love to see you again. Can I have your number?

No. I don't have one.

Really? That's a terrible lie.

Daehyun raised an eyebrow and Youngjae let out a soft laugh.

Haha. If you want I'll be here again tomorrow.

Sounds good. I'll see you then. :)

After Daehyun placed the last note down Youngjae stood and flashed a smile. Holding onto his small notebook he turned and made his way out of the small park. Leaving Daehyun here with a mass of yellow sticky notes to clean up. It was surprising that they didn't run out though. But Daehyun could care less he watched Youngjae's retreating back with a thoughtful gaze. The events of the last couple hours replaying in his mind. Joy would be too plain a word to describe what he was feeling and happiness didn't even come close. He had to stop himself from getting up and jumping up and down like a school girl.

I did it. If possible the smile on Daehyun's face got wider. And I get to see him again tomorrow.

At that moment Daehyun's phone let out a shrill ring. He fished the phone out from his pocket and checked the caller id. He wasn't taking any chances after last time. Wow Himchan for once your timing is great.

Daehyun pressed the 'accept' button and was met with Himchan's very loud voice. He drowned out most of what Himchan had to say, which was mostly about him being out so long and not even having the nerve to call, until Himchan asked him one specific question.

"So....how did today go?"

Daehyun smiled and even with Youngjae long gone his eyes shifted towards the seat next to him and then to the yellow sticky notes.

"Perfect." he replied. "Just perfect."
