Chapter 20
Don't Look BackCheolyong wasn’t sure what he was doing, but for the past half hour he found himself walking up and down the sidewalk outside of Changsun’s house. He was almost positive that he’d had a reason for coming in the first place but he forgot it within the first five minutes of chickening out of ringing the door bell. It wasn’t that he was worried about going inside; this was practically home to him. And it wasn’t that he was hesitant to talk to Changsun like he planned. The problem was that it was five thirty and Anya was home and Cheolyong was more than a bit reluctant to run into the nosy little girl for obvious reasons.
Sighing softly, his breath visible in the air before him on that chilly night, Cheolyong stuck his hands in his coat pocket and closed his eyes. He in a deep breath and gave himself a quick pep talk, reminding himself that Changsun was his best friend and no matter what, honesty between them was for the best. They needed to clear the air after what had happened in school today if they ever wanted to continue their friendship as it was.
Ready for action, Cheolyong let out his breath and confidently strode to the front door, knocking twice before letting himself in. He shrugged off his coat and tossed it on the rack beside the door before walking towards the living room where he heard the television. There he found Hyojin and Anya sitting on the couch watching their nightly episode of Scooby Doo.
“I was wandering when you were going to come in, Cheolyong,” Hyojin commented, glancing back at him with a twinkle in her eyes. “Changsun’s in his room sulking, as always.”
“I’m going to stay the night, if that’s okay. Too cold to walk back home,” Cheolyong answered, purposely avoiding Anya’s gaze. She was wriggling her eyebrows at him as if she expected a love confession to be made tonight…but she had another thing coming if she thought that was ever going to happen. “Right, so yeah. Changsun.
