Chapter 18
Don't Look BackBefore we start this chapter, you'll notice that I switched back to using Cheolyong and Changsun instead of Joon and Mir. Don't worry, I plan on going back to Joon and Mir for the rest of the story. For some reason my writing turns out ten times better when I use their real names, I don't know why.
Tuesday
“How come you weren’t at school yesterday?” Cheolyong asks, staring at Changsun with interest. It’s lunch time and as usual the duo is in the library sitting at one of the many, empty round tables. However, unlike any other day the vast room is filled with silence instead of their normal chit chat and conversations.
Changsun looks up briefly from the textbook that his nose is buried in and nods swiftly before going back to his studying, apparently not having understood the question. Cheolyong can’t say that he’s surprised; his best friend had been distant since this morning but he didn’t know why. He just sort of brushed it off as perhaps Changsun was ill. After all, he was absent the previous day, he could have very well been sick. Changsun didn’t look sickly though.
“Well, if you’re interested, that one movie you wanted to see just arrived at the video store and I was thinking we could rent it and get some take out. I have some money saved up,” Cheolyong offered, a small smile gracing his face and a soft blush falling over his cheeks. That certainly sounded like a date, not that he’d intended it to. Not that it made much of a difference, really. They were always together and doing things with just the two of them. Going to the movies, loitering around the shopping center, cuddling in bed together. It wasn’t considered dating though, because they were just best friends. Besides, best friends just did that sort of thing. Girls did it all the time with each other but that didn’t mean they were dating, or their little get together were dates.
Snapping Cheolyong from his frenzied thoughts, Changsun sighed and looked up from his book once again, a slightly irritated expression on his face.
“Cheolyong, don’t waste your money on something silly. You need that to buy yourself groceries and clothes for when you’re not staying with me. Save your money, we can hang out another day,” He said coldly.
Cheolyong flushed at the words and looked away embarrassedly. Changsun had a point; he couldn’t very well depend on him for everything. Still, he could have just politely declined or have just said that they could find something else to do.
