Chapter 9

Family Business

“Okay, think, what are you going to do now.” You told yourself, watching as all the guards seemed to be extra attentive to their surroundings. Groaning, you clutched your head. Shaking away the head ache, you looked around for any answers.

Raising your eyebrows, you noticed a little balcony on the other side on the building. Slowly, you crawled toward it, lying down on the roof whenever a guard looked toward your general area.

“Why isn’t the sun setting yet!” You whined, glaring at the sun set, wanting it to go down a lot faster.

Finally reaching the balcony, you waited until it was okay to jump onto it. Quietly, you jumped down from the roof and onto the balcony floor. Just like a cat, you checked your surroundings and looked through the glass door inside the room. Seeing it was empty, you opened the door and made your way inside.

Narrowing your eyes, you heard the shower running. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity, you searched through the drawers. Opening the top one, you ran your hand inside until you found what you were looking for. Once the item was in your hand, you smirked.

Typical.  You thought. Taking your hand out of the drawer, you examined the gun in your hand. Nodding your head, you heard the shower turn off. Quickly, you stuffed the other item in your pocket and ran out of the glass door and off of the balcony. Landing a little harder than expected, you took in a sharp breath of air.

. I’m too weak for this. You thought, running behind a wall. Hiding in the corner, you examined your ankle. Shaking away the pain, you looked up at the sun. Maybe a half an hour more before it’s dark out. Deciding it was safer to lurk around in the dark rather than in the day time, you made yourself comfortable.

Irritated you ruffled your hair. You didn’t even know who your kidnapper worked for, or why you were even there. They should’ve killed you by now but they treated you like royalty. It’s a surprise that they haven’t noticed you were missing.

Sirens.

Spoke too soon. Tensing up, you pushed yourself further into the corner. Looking at the phone in your hand, you took out the battery. Just in case. You thought to yourself. The longer the siren played, the faster your heart rate picked up.

To be honest, you didn’t have a chance. There was one of you, and a good number of guards around. All of them targeting you. Squeezing your eyes shut, you threw your head back against the wall. Hearing footsteps running past your hiding spot, you held your breath.

“Where the is she!?”

Opening your eyes, you tried to concentrate on the voice you heard.

“I don’t know! If I knew, we wouldn’t be having this problem!” One of them snapped.

They sounded familiar.

“Can they turn off that damn siren! It’s ing annoying!” Another one whined.

Too familiar.

Slowly, you crawled away from your hiding spot, looking around the corner. Widening your eyes, you saw who it was. A mixed emotion of happiness and fear built up inside of you. Yes you were happy they were here looking for you, but they could be killed.

“Hey!” You whisphered.

“WHAT IS THAT?!” Himchan yelled, turning around.

All the boys turned around. Seeing your face, they all smiled and ran toward you. Smiling, you suppressed the laugh you wanted to let out. Now really wasn’t the time to be happy, you still needed to find a way out of there.

You couldn’t help but look for Yongguk. He locked eyes with yours and quickly looked away shaking his head. Something didn’t feel right. Something was off. What’s wrong with him. You thought to yourself.

“Noona!” Zelo whispered, tugging on your hand. “We need to get out of here.”

Nodding your head, you followed Himchan while Zelo and Yongguk trailed behind you. Youngjae warned that a guard was coming. Quickly, you all hid behind a wall. Holding your breath, you grasped the gun you had in your hand.

“Give me the gun.” Yongguk demanded, whispering into your ear.

Raising a brow, you turned to look at him. Something is definitely wrong. He saw the hesitation in your face and he let out an obnoxious sigh. Yongguk nodded his head toward the gun before you reluctantly gave it to him.

Finally getting what he wanted, he walked in front of you, signaling for everyone to continue moving.

Does he not trust me?

Feeling uneasy about Yongguks new attitude toward you, you started to lose focus. Before you could walk into a guards back, Himchan wrapped an arm around you and swiftly pulled you away. Sending him an apologetic stare, he just shook his head.

“We’re almost there.” Himchan murmured to everyone.

“How did you guys even find me?” You asked.

“Sumin found you. She’s the getaway driver.” Himchan explained.

Shocked, you grabbed Himchans arm.

“Sumin is the getaway driver? Who let her come?!” You whispered, rather loudly.

Before Himchan could explain himself, you all heard a scream. Feeling your heart rate pick up, you ran toward the noise. You heard someone call your name, you didn’t really care who. You just needed to find the source of that scream.

Please. You thought to yourself. Hearing shots, you started to run faster.

Finally reaching the source of the scream, your eyes widened. Sumin was being dragged out of the getaway car. From a distance you could hear one the guards ask where you were.

“She’s gone!” Sumin yelled, desperately trying to get out of his grip.

“Don’t lie to us!” A guard yelled, grabbing onto her hair.

“I’m no-“

“I’m right here!” You shouted.

All eyes turned toward you. Sumin yelled your name, telling you to run. Angry, you ran toward the guards. You were going to get Sumin out of there. No matter what the cost. They were not going to hurt the only person you truly cared about.

Before you could get far, you felt arms wrap around your waist. Confused, you turned to see Yongguk looking down at you, sympathy written all over his face. You screamed at him to let you go.

“I can’t do that.” He calmly told you.

Looking back at Sumin you saw her smile at you. ‘I’m sorry.’ She mouthed before one of the guards knocked her out. Before the guards could try to get you back, Yongguk dragged you to another car Daehyun had waiting.

Confused, you looked at all of them.

“Why was she there?! Why wasn’t she in here?!”

“….She was the decoy.” Daehyun explained, refusing to meet your eyes.

Starting to feel nauseous, you grabbed your head. The speed at which Daehyun was driving, really wasn’t helping your stomache.

“And you guys let her?” You asked, not fully processing what had happened.

“She offered.” Yongguk replied coolly.

Anger filled you now. How could they? How could he. He knew how much she meant to you. You trusted them. You trusted him. Before you got a chance to yell at him, he stopped you with what he said next.

“We know who you are.Yongguk spat. The sentence was laced with pure venom. Meeting his eyes, he didn’t expect your cold gaze to match his.

“Stop the car.” You whispered.

“Wha-“

“STOP THE CAR!” You screamed, kicking the door.

Surprised by your outburst, Daehyun slammed on the car brakes. Opening the car door, you leaped out and slammed the door shut. Furiously wiping the tears from your face, you walked back toward the direction of where you came.

Feeling something prick you in the neck, you stopped in your tracks. Bringing your hand to your neck, you pulled out a needle. Falling to the ground, you started to lose vision. Before you totally out, you saws Yongguk standing above you.

“She said you’d be like this.” He mumbled, picking you up.

………..

Slowly openeing your eyes, you looked around. Feeling your head pounding, you laid back down on the bed and groaned.

“. Everything hurts.” You mumbled, pulling yourself into a sitting position.

Looking around the room, you realized you were back in your small apartment. Pushing yourself out of your bed, you noticed all of your belongings tossed into a corner of your room. Remember what happened before you out, you scoffed.

“What an .” You said, walking toward your kitchen.

Feeling your eyes staring to sting, you blinked away the tears. Grabbing your phone, you dialed Sumins number. You got nothing but a ‘the person you are trying to reach is not available at the moment.’ Angry, you threw your phone against the wall.

Finally breaking down, the tears started to flow and your legs gave out.

After what felt like horus, your tears subsided. Sitting in your apartment, you couldn’t help but feel lonely. What used to be your home now felt unfamiliar to you. Looking around, you noticed Sumins stuff neatly organized in the corner.

Smiling to yourself, you stood up and sat on the sofa. Grabbing your laptop, you entered your password and started to research.

You were going to do whatever it took to find her.

With or without Yongguk.
