Chapter 12

Today is the other six (Xiu Min+Chaerim, Kris, Lay, Chen, Tao, and Lu Han) that will come, it’s good, yesterday, the K succeed on making my father laugh (not the crazy laugh Chanyeol does, only a subtle laugh, which is enough to lift my spirit to the sky), all of them always bring good energies, knowing this, I should’ve taken them more often back then.

“Study… well…” my father says, “Get… good… husband… like… me…” He adds, smiling, “Or… I… curse… your…marriage…”

I nod, “Of course, pretty girl like me only attract good man.” I flip my hair back jokingly, it’s nice to have a conversation with him again, I miss this. He scoffs, “Too… full… of… yourself…”

“WHAT?!” I pretend to be mad.

“Miss Park please don’t be too loud, the other patients need to rest, including your father.” The nurse comes with the medication and a scolding for me. “Sorry.” I quickly apologize and step aside, I see my father taking mocking glance at me. Good thing he doesn’t change, he’s still annoying yet loving.

My phone buzzes inside my pocket, it is Kris, “Papa, they have arrived, wait a minute.” I look at my father, after he gives me a nod of approval, I quickly go outside, and there they are, as handsome as usual, “Hey!” I wave enthusiastically, which they reply with the same enthusiast.

“Where is Ji Hyun and Auntie?” Chae Rim questions, “They’re in China, taking care of the company, they’re coming tomorrow though.” I answer, “Come!” I usher them to go inside, the nurse has finished her duty, she bows a little before going out (with obviously flirty eyes looking at Chen’s direction).

I see my father’s face brightens, “… Hi…”

“HIII!!” Of course, Tao just has to screams, I mean, of course. Dad’s face scrunches up, “Noisy…”

The day starts with Tao’s pout and a little laugh, I hope it keeps going like this.

She looks brighter than yesterday, I can see why, her dad is obviously showing a better condition, I heard that he couldn’t speak days ago, she must be really happy to finally have two-ways conversation with him. Tao, Chen and Xiu Min, the ones equal as Baekhyun, Chanyeol and D.O in K, try so many jokes to throw, which I’m pretty sure Ji Kyung doesn’t find funny, but because her dad is laughing, she laughs, too.

I feel the warmth of her laughing voice filling my heart, I miss it, the sincere, genuine laughter of hers. This is the first time her smile reaches her eyes again, it makes me happy to see her happy self back.

She turns her head and locks her eyes with me, she smiles and pushes herself off from the bed, approaching me, “Thanks and sorry.”

I blink at her in puzzlement, “Thanks for making me realize that… I have you all, and sorry for that night, I just… I just dislike it when people see the weak side of me.” She mutters, which quickly put a smile on my face, laughing, I ruffle her hair lightly, “That’s something you shouldn’t be thankful or sorry for.”

“Actually, your face looks kind of pale, are you sick?” I furrow my eyebrows out of worry, her usual cherry lips are gone, replaced by a sickly shade, her natural cheeks flush now are replaced by an abnormal red color. Her panic eyes told me that she’s sick, but being the stubborn girl she is… of course she will hide it from everyone. “Uhm… I need to use the restroo-“

Before she can escape, I grab her wrist and cup the sides of her face, “You have a cold.” I say, frowning deeply as I feel her hot skin in contact with my skin. “You should rest.”

“I will not tell anybody, just rest, I’ll stay here with you tonight.”

She shakes her head, “You’re in your busy days, you’re the one who need the rest, don’t waste your time here.”

Waste my time? My eyebrow instantly rise at her words, her words insult me indirectly to be honest, “Ji Kyung.” I cross my arms across my chest, “Are you saying that I’m the kind of guy, who thinks taking care of his girl and her father a waste of time, and rather sleep with the knowledge of you suffering?” 

It's definitely not a waste of time if I enjoy it anyway, because frankly speaking, my time spend with her it's equal as happiness, in any situation.

There is a pause between the two of us, and for a moment the only heard voice is the noisy Xiu Min, Tao and Chen. She her lips, I guess she’s feeling guilty, yes please feel guilty for thinking that I’m such a douche-bag. “I… I don’t mean it like that…” She looks down.

Sighing, I send her an assuring smile that I’m not mad or angry at her, “I’ll come around 6 after taking my clothes, I’ll buy you medicines on my way later.”

“Oh come on, don’t keep that sad face up, smile.” I pinch her cheek, “Sick person here.” She playfully glares at me.

“You’re playing that card, not fair.” I huff. She smiles in triumphant before sticking her tongue out at me.

I chuckle upon seeing her, so childish.

And adorable.

“Are you saying that I’m the kind of guy, who thinks taking care of his girl and her father a waste of time, and rather sleep comfortably on my bed with the knowledge of you suffering?”
