--PROLOGUE: BREAKING APART--

 

"After this party, I want you to break up with him…"

 

 

Inhale. Exhale. The thought of me breaking up with him, breaks me apart. This is going to be hard.

 

"Babe, is there a problem?"

 

"No. I'm just spacing out.. Again.. Don't mind me.."

 

"You're really funny. Spacing out at times like this? Chi~ you might forget we're dancing and step on my foot. " then he laughed.

 

I just gave him, Hero, a smile. Can someone tell me how to break up with this adorable guy? I just can't. I love him too much to break both our hearts.

 

"I love you.." I said.

 

"I love you more. You're now 18, we can now get married." He said while staring intently to my eyes.

 

"you're kidding right?"

 

"why will I?"

 

"we're too young for that.."

 

"but we're ready."

 

I can't argue with that. Financially speaking, we're more than prepared to settle down. Emotionally, I think so. But not with my parents. They want me to break up with him tonight. I don't know why and I don't think I want to know.

 

I guess I made up my mind, what he just said rang a bell in my head.

 

"Jessica."

 

"Hmm?"

 

"You're spacing out again babe.."

 

The way he said it, made me blush. I hate it, it made me grow conscious.

 

I looked around me and met my dad's gaze. I know he never favored my relationship with Hero, or rather he never favored the idea of me having a boyfriend. That's just so absurd! But still he let me do things my way, until today.

 

So far, this party is the best party I ever had. Not only because of the expenses that got this party covered but also the fact that everyone I love are here. My friends, classmates, relatives, umma, appa, my dongsaeng Krystal and of course my ever sweet boyfriend, Hero. I feel so loved right now, that I don't want this night to end, because I know, tomorrow will never be the same.

 

"And let us now call on stage the reason why we are gathered here tonight, she's no other than the beautiful debutante, Ms. Jessica Jung!"

 

"Thank you for the compliment." I said as I made it to the stage. "Hi. First, I would like to thank all of you for celebrating here with me as I finally turn into a woman……………… Before I end this speech, I would like to tell you that I am getting married with Hero soon." After that, I saw daddy slammed his fist against the table that made a sudden commotion. Hero on the other hand is stunned on his seat. While mommy let out an embarrassingly loud gasp that caught most attention. Generally, they never expected me to say those, neither do I, but it just popped out of my head. It's the only idea I thought of to save my love life.

 

It took only a moment before the light atmosphere to come back, but the people started dispersing as well and only the closest friends of my appa remained, as well as Hero too.

 

"you serious about that?" Hero asked me. He's pertaining to the marriage thingy.

 

"Are you serious about that?" I asked him back.

 

"I am." he proudly answered. "are you?"

 

"Of course. We can get married tomorrow if you want to.." I said, and I mean it. I can feel that there's something wrong. I don't want to presume, but really, I can't help it.

 

"Good thing I have this…"

 

I was in awe when I saw him open a small jewelry case and kneeled in front of me.

 

"I-I.. Y-you?.. We… really?"

 

He just smiled.

 

Oh gosh. This is real right?

 

"Will you marry me?"

 

"Damn! Yes. Yes. Yes."

 

"What's to say yes Jessica?" My merriment was cut off when appa popped out of nowhere.

 

"He -" Hero stopped me from talking.

 

"I'll marry Jessica.."

 

What happened next is something I never thought of, even in my wildest fantasies. My appa's 'friends' are around us and they are all pointing their guns to Hero. What the ?

 

"We've already discussed this, Hero. You'll stay away from her or…."

 

As if on cue, all of them pulled the trigger.

 

"I've decided." Hero said, then he held my hand.

 

"I will never leave her. I'll fi------"

 

Everything seemed to freeze and at the same time, flew fast. I wasn't able to protect him from the bullets piercing every part of his body. Hero fell on me, my gown is now blood coated and I can't do anything but to scream and cry.

 

"HEROOOOOOOO!!!!"

 

I heard a cough escaped from his bloody mouth.

 

"Hero, hold on, please, i-I'll bring you to hospital, please, don't die. " I was sobbing. I can't even move, I feel like being stapled on the floor.

 

"Help us… please.." I'm pleading as if anyone can hear me.

 

"Jessica.." his voice is raspy, I know he's having a hard time breathing.

 

"Hero, no.. Don't, please, don't talk."

 

I tried to stand up but I failed, Hero is holding me back.

 

"Hero, don't make it hard for me, please, don't die.. Please.."

 

"My pocket.." he whispered.

 

"wh-what pocket?"

 

"gun…"

 

I don't know what has got into me but I hurriedly rifled his pants' pockets. The moment I found it, I sobbed harder.

 

"Saranghae…"

 

That was the last words he said and his heart stopped beating. He's gone.

 

My Hero is gone.

 

 

 

 

 

"GO TO HELL MOTHERERS!!!!!!" That's when all hell broke lose, I aimlessly shot the gun, until the last bullet.

 

*click* *click*

 

"I'll kill you! I'll kill each of you!"

 

My gun is now useless and I wasn't able to kill any of them. I was not able to make them pay for Hero's death. I was not able to do anything to revive him.

 

"unnie-ya.." My sister Krystal said as she walks toward me, crying.

 

I completely forgotten the fact that I'm here in my birthday party. I forgot that there are people in here. But what did they do when Hero was being killed? Nothing. They just watched the person I love the most, die in my arms.

 

"unnie.." Said Krystal again.

 

"unnie, let's go home.." She's trying to hold my arms but I just can't let her touch me.

 

"just leave me alone…"

 

"unnie-ya.."

 

"dear.." this time it's my umma.

 

"leave me alone"

 

"Jessica,"

 

"I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!!!! Why don't you just let me die here with Hero? Go away, I hate you, go away!"

 

That was the last words I was able to say until my vision fades to black.

Tears won't stop falling as I trace his name embedded on the stone.

After that, I left him.

 

I dialed my secretary's number.

 

I'll make them regret the day they messed up with Jessica Jung.
