Prologue

Season of Gfriend

With a full grasp on her chest, she tried to run from something, someone she was afraid of. Her heart was heavy and so is her laboured breathing - her exhales became rapid and close in distance, white from the coldness brought about by the coming winter. Her heavy steps left marks on the muddy ground, as the rain continued to pour down on the originally damp forests of the North.

Sooner than what she had expected, her legs began to fail her. Pain was creeping through her muscles and joints and she knew she could no longer run in few minutes. But she persevered and kept on running, not looking back and not minding the voices she could hear. However, tears began to fill the corners of her eyes as she could no longer feel her legs. She fell onto the ground, her limbs hitting the rocks and scattered fallen branches. No matter how she wanted to get up, she could no longer support her upper body, leaving herself completely thrown to the abyss she wanted to escape from.

“Kill me, now!”

She screamed from the top of her lungs, trying to convince the voices that she was rendered powerless.

Little by little, she could hear the voices nearing her. Deep inside of her was a faint hope that she could stand and run away once again, but with the tormenting whispers of the fears she had, her faith was withering rather hastily. She was a slowly disintegrating glassbead.

“Why… are you doing this? Kill me!”

By this time, she no longer hesitated facing death for she knew she was going to face it in some time of her non-existent life. The voices, however, just took turns in laughing at her pitiful figure, mocking her very existence as if she had felt the so-called concept.

She was on the verge of becoming hysterical, her insides were churning and she felt like vomiting. She did not want to listen, but she could not prevent herself from doing so. Their demonic laughters begin to resonate more within her system, eating her up, devouring her very soul. Then, she slowly drifted to a deep slumber… barely uttered the words, Why me.

The woman, in her death suit, was left under the cold rain - consumed by the gloom that each raindrop symbolized.

But what she didn’t know was her life was transformed into some kind of remembrance.
