Ji Hyun wakes up in her bedroom, a bit disoriented and her head throbbing. She thinks about the amount of soju she drank last night, but the memory comes back as she sees that she was wearing her clothes from last night, her coat hung by a chair in the dining room. She remembers her reaction last night, from the moment she saw the news report to the moment that she was crying in the middle of the street with oppa trying to calm her down. She rubs her face in embarrassment from her moment of weakness last night before stretching her body forward, trying to think of ways on how is this going to be sorted out. She looked up to see the latch on the door that separated their houses still locked, and she steps out of her bed to shift it back, and just when she opened the door, she finds Chang Wook with a bowl of sundae, a formed fist as if he was ready to knock on the door. The two were startled as well, not really sure on how to handle the awkward encounter, before Chang Wook spoke first.

"Did...Did you sleep well?" He coyly asked, and she nodded in response.

"I...uhm...I cooked a bit of sundae for you, just in case you're not feeling well, and uhm," he paused before opening his hands with two tablets covered in foil. "This is for you, just in case your head is throbbing."

She was still silent, a stoic expression on her face, and then, he continued. "Do you want to eat here or—"

"Let's eat back at my place. I need to talk to you over some things." She responded before moving back towards her part of the house. He sighed to himself as he followed her, careful not to bump onto the doorway, before putting the sundae on her table carefully as she sat down. He was kind enough to pour her a glass of water as she ate her meal, her insides feelings warm from the freshly-cooked soup. He sat across from her, his head still down as she waited for her to finish her meal. When he heard her stand up and wash the empty bowl, he waited for her until she was finally settled.

"We have a lot of things to go through, am I right?" She asked him, and his gaze was still on his clasped hands, and she sighed in response.

"Let's first think through the comments that we had with each other in the past couple of days," she started. "So, are you still angry at me for how I dealt with that man?"

"Of course," he quietly spoke. "You scared me less when you slapped him and they chased you, even when it was for self-defense."

"I think they would've hurt me further if I didn't fought back, don't you think?" She responded.

"You have a point for hurting him to defend yourself," he replied. "But still, you could've gotten hurt if I weren't there."

"Who dragged you into the alleyway when they started to catch up on us?"

He sighed after that remark. "You did, but you wouldn't have gotten away that fast if I didn't you pull you away from them."

She sighed after his rebuttal. "Oppa, what matters right now is that I'm fine and I've learned from my mistakes. Even if you're angry at me for what I did, I know now what I could've done and how I can approach these things. You can't protect me from these things forever."

He pressed him lips before saying his reply. "I know that."

She stayed silent after that, trying to make sense of it all. "...Do you have a problem with me going to America?"

He blinked at her, thinking on what he should say. The lie was at the tip of his tongue, but he would rather tell her the truth right now than continue to pretend that it doesn't hurt him right now.

"It's not a problem." He started. "I'm really happy for you that you're finally achieving your dreams and I'm supporting you with my entire heart and soul, but..."

She waited for him to speak as he recollected his words. "I'm going to sound selfish, and I don't want to be selfish, but... I don't know if I'll ever take it when you leave me one day."

Her eyes softened as he continued his words. "You have been a constant in my life for so long, and knowing that my best friend is leaving me for how many years to go to the other side of the world? You have no idea how proud and sad you make me. I can't say that I don't want you to leave because that's too selfish of me, and I want to see you grow and reach your dreams and be the person you've always wanted to be. But at the same time, it hurts that I won't see you as much as before. I... I know it sounds too cheesy and selfish, but I'll miss you so much, Ji Hyun."

She lets out a sad smile, letting his words sink in. "Ya, we've talked about this before, right? Oppa, I'll always find a way to keep in touch no matter what. I'm not that far from your reach."

He lets out a shaky breath, trying to rub his eyes to keep his tears from falling. "I know that, I'm sorry if I ever came up to that topic."

She stands up before making her way towards his side, scooting the nearest chair to him before placing an arm around his shoulder, rubbing his sides as she tried to comfort him. "Ya, it's alright. We'll be fine, oppa, and it would be a long time before I actually leave."

He continued to stare down at his lap, specifically his fidgety fingers, as she continued with her words. "You're thinking too far ahead. Let's focus on the now, shall we? We have like... a few months before I leave for the States. Don't you think we should try and make every second count right now?"

He raises his head and observes the girl with the raised eyebrows and a soft smile, her head tilting to the side as she observed him closely. "Oppa, let's not try to mope around

Chapter 16 : Congratulations for having finished your first novel ( ? ) Dear Author :)
Ah this last line broke my heart ! Why ? Why do I sense bitter angst for the sequel ? It’s really sad knowing that those two already suffered from their previous relationship and took time to trust someone again >_<
