Chapter 10 (Himchan): Confused Hearts

B.A.P Le Noir AU

“Look at this mess…” The police detective groaned as he kicked a piece of charred rubble formerly belonged to the Emperor Dragons's’ hideout. CSI officers scoured the rubble excavating any evidence they could find, but beside the charred corpses they couldn’t find much else since the fire took care of most of the evidence.

“The Black Scorpios were taken out just recently as well…” Another detective noted as he bent down and examined the crime scene before him. “Do you think it was some sort of gang war?”

“Possibly, but the Emperor Dragons weren’t just some no name gang like the Black Scorpios…” The detective chewed the of his pencil. “We couldn’t even book them on charges we know they’re responsible for. These guys were professionals so for some other group to take them out…”

“Okay everyone, stop what you’re doing!” The two detectives turned around to see a two men in a black suits and tie climb up the rubble, their hands in their pockets. The one that seemed to be the leader was young, clean shaven and his dark brown hair was slicked to the side neatly while the other was equally young but his hair was light brown. “We’ll be taking over the case from now on,” He nonchalantly told the detectives as he turned his attention to his colleague. “Tell CSI to send all the evidence they find to our techs at our HQ.”

“Hey who the hell are you guys!?” The detective growled at the sudden intrusion to the crime scene.

“Special Agent Im Jaebum and Special Agent Choi Youngjae,” The special agent still kept his attention on his fellow agent, boredly answering the detectives. “And as I’ve said before we’ll be taking over this investigation. Thanks for your work gentlemen.” Jaebum turned to the detectives and flashed them the most professional smile he could muster as he handed them the papers to show them that they were relieved of their duties. The two detectives grumbled as they snatched the paper from his hand.

“Jaebum,” Special Agent Choi came up beside Jaebum after fulfilling his first task, handing him a phone. “Jinyoung called saying he got something.”

“Yah, Jaebum,” The voice on the other end was muffled and a bit staticy. The reception must have been poor. “Me, Yugyeom, and Jackson went and….interviewed some of the gangs and it seems that the Emperor Dragons were hanging around a popular nightclub in these parts lately. Maybe they went too off script and got offed instead…”

“Thanks Jinyoung. We’ll discuss more about it when I get back. CSI is going to send in a slew of evidence in. Help Mark out with the analysis once you’re done…interviewing.” Jaebum hung up shortly after, handing the phone back to Agent Choi.

“Well there goes our lead to Infernum…” Agent Choi let out a sigh as he scratched the back of his head, overlooking the mess.

“Not exactly,” Jaebum smirked. “Not all of the Emperor Dragons are dead and gone. Plus we got a new lead,” He squatted down and picked up a small scrap of money that managed to survive the blaze. “A club huh?” He let out a small scoff as he crumpled the scrap in his hand.

It had been a few weeks since the….incident. The girls refused to let you come into Le Noir, fearing that you would work. Hell, even Sam and Padrino played along and dragged you off to relax, whether it was just a night on the town with the boys or a shopping spree. The last thing they wanted you to do was to drown yourself in work. Though you loved them for the sweet intentions, you were beginning to get bored. Staying at home and watching TV can only kill so much time. You did, however, enjoy the late night walks at the park near your home. It wasn’t some big, grandiose parks that those in the upper town had. It was a quaint place. Small flower bed and brick walkways. Patches of fresh grass and a small fountain in the center. It was a place that the local children often came to, a place that no gang was willing to mess with. A sanctuary within hell.

The cool night breeze under the night stars was comforting to you. It made you feel free. A gate into another world of peace and solace away from your usual hectic life. It gave you a place to think. About yourself. About your choices. About Himchan… Just the single utterance of his name made you want to chew your bottom lip. That moment the two of you had. It seemed to replay repeatedly in your head. Yes you were in a vulnerable state. Yes you may have been seeking some form of comfort. But was that it? Was that your only excuse? Or was there something more behind that kiss? You would let an occasional groan at your over thinking. It was a fact that there was some attraction between you and him. This wasn’t some complicated drama. No need to deny the obvious and cause a ruckus. But were you ready for another relationship? Move on from Scotty? You didn’t know.

“Y/N! You can’t be here!” One of your girls screeched as she saw you enter Le Noir. You had grown tired of your lonely TV binges and late night walks. You missed the company of your girls as well as your boys.

“I’m just here as a customer, sweetheart,” You smiled sweetly at the girl, removing your thick red peacoat of your form. “Promise.” You gently tapped the girl’s nose, which caused her to have a slight pout.

You let out a small chuckle as you saw her scurry off to tend to customers. You took a deep breathe as you enjoyed the scent of familiarity. The booze, the smoke, the musky cologne. You missed home. You rested your head in one of your hands as you examined the club around you. The people chattering. The smiles and laughs. The sight made a small smile creep on your face. But you felt something was missing. Something like a spark. A grit. A roughness. Chaos.

“You took care of their headquarters right, Bang?” Yongguk replied to Himchan with a slight nod, a smirk on his face as he played with his lighter. There it was. Chaos. Unwisingly you turned around to see the person the voice belonged too. Himchan’s eyes went wide when he made eye contact with you and the usual talkative suave leader fell silent. The rest of the boys, however, didn’t catch on to the awkward tension in the atmosphere and came up to you with smiles on their faces. It had been too long since they last saw you and the last time they did see you, you looked so broken and miserable. Seeing you at the club with a smile on your face, that was worth more than any heist  they accomplished.

“Looks like you’re all in one piece,” Youngjae came beside you, gesturing for the bartender to pour him a drink. “You had us scared there.” Youngjae grinned at you.

“Aww thanks for your concern,” You teased, pinching Youngjae’s chubby cheek. Youngjae reeled back immediately his mouth agape in shock as he rubbed his cheek. There was the shocked fluffy chick again. “Plus, I’m full of surprises remember?” You winked at him, causing the boy to scoff.

“You’re not here to work right?” Yongguk cocked an eyebrow at you, a stern look in his eyes.

“No I’m not, Mr. Papa Bear Bang.” You chuckled at Yongguk’s protective nature. A small gummy smile revealed itself on his lips.

“Looks like, marion, here is made of tougher material than I thought.” Jongup chuckled as he leaned in closer to you, a playful spark bouncing in his eyes.

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” You flashed him a polite grin.

“Okay okay, you vulutures, get moving,” Himchan let out an annoyed huff as he pulled Jongup’s shoulder so that the space between the two of you was greater. “We still got work to do.” Jongup shot Himchan a glare and the two had a small stare down before Jongup let out a bored shrug and walked to the backroom of the club. Youngjae let out a sigh, taking his drink with him. Daehyun followed after him, his arm around Youngjae’s shoulder, as he attempted to get a sip of Youngjae’s drink. Youngjae was not having of that.

“Um…I’m glad that you’re better….” Zelo’s voice was barely above a whisper as he made split-second eye contact with you before scurrying off to the backroom. Yongguk gave you a firm shoulder squeeze before following the shy little lamb. You couldn’t help but let out a small giggle at the sight. A grizzly bear taking care of a little lamb. How amusing.

You looked up to see that Himchan hadn’t follow the rest of the boy, instead he stood there in front of you. The air between the two of you was awkward and unsettling. You would rather have the former relationship the two of you shared. Snark, sass, and flirt. Not this. This was too serious for your taste. You decided that it would be best to just deal with the elephant in the room. Get it over with. Plus the tension in the air between the two of you was bad for business. You kept repeating in your mind that you were not a giddy school girl with her first crush standing in front of you. You were going to woman up and deal with the consequences of your actions head on.

“Y/N….” You gave a slight jump at the sound of your name leaving Himchan’s lips. “About before…I’m sorry I left so abruptly.” He beat you to the punch. He let out a small sigh as he tiredly leaned against the bar counter. Himchan needed some alcohol in him fast.

“I’m sorry too….I know how my actions might have looked…” You closed your eyes for a moment, composing your thoughts and formulating them into coherent words. “I’m not upset that you kissed me. Hell, I practically attacked you. You have no need to apologize for stopping me and my dumbself…” You let out a sad chuckle as you looked elsewhere.Your eyes not wanting to meet Himchan’s just yet.

“I didn’t regret kissing you. I regret the circumstances that it occurred in.” You turned and stared at Himchan wide-eyed. His expression was stern, unfaltering as he sipped his glass of scotch. He wasn’t joking. Teasing. Playing.

You bit your lower lip. For the first time you were flustered. It wasn’t by the fact that he was attracted to you (many men were), it was the fact that you may be attracted to him. When was the last time you were genuinely cared for by a man who wasn’t from the old generation of gangsters. Who cared about your well-being and not how well you could perform in bed. Who could see your strong facade and accept your weakness. Most men who hitted on you wanted the thrill. The thrill of taming a wild animal. A woman who wouldn’t submit to them even if a gun was pointed at her head. But Himchan saw everything. Your weakness. Your depravity. Yet he was still kind to you, caring, motherly even. That side of him, that made your heart swell. But were you ready? Ready to open up your heart to another again?

“Himchan, When I kissed you… it wasn’t just because I needed comfort…I think…” Your words were being tongue-tied for the first time in a while. Himchan started to shift as well at your sudden loss for words. You were never loss for words. “I think a part of me-”

Your words were cut of by the sudden silence that entered the club as a man in a nice black suit in tie entered the club. He was too neat. Too put together. It was obvious he didn’t belong. It was obvious who he was. The man paid no mind to the glares and stares he received, merely scoffed as he approached the bar counter towards you. “Don’t worry boys, I’m not here to arrest you yet,” He smirked and turned his attention back to you. At the sight of you his eyebrows furrowed a bit, an expression of confusion and familiarity painted his face. He closed his eyes for a short moment, pulling him back to the current job he had on hand. “You’re the owner of this establishment, m’am?”

“Yes, and how may I help you…” You flashed him a professional smirk, despite the fact you worked in a criminal infested bar it didn’t mean that you would start fights with police. Your club was neutral ground and you intended to keep it that way.

“Special Agent Im,” He stated plainly, glancing at Himchan who was glaring holes into his head. BAP was notorious criminals. Special Agents were top law enforcement officers. Oil and Water. “Kim Himchan,” Jaebum smirked. “I hope you and your boys haven’t gotten into any trouble lately.”

“Nothing that you’ll ever prove.” Himchan flashed the man a cocky smirk as he leaned on the bar counter, closer to you. Himchan had heard of Special Agent Im Jaebum and his unit. Well known for bringing large gangs all over the nation as well as international level. Youngjae had kept tabs on them just in case they began snooping around in BAP business.

“Do you need anything, Special Agent Im, or are you just here to harass my patrons?” You leaned back in your chair, arms folded across your chest.

“Just some information and I’ll be out of your hair,” He scoffed. You were feisty. “I’ve heard that the Emperor Dragons loitered around here recently, but they weren’t your common patrons. Just wanted to see if you knew why they were suddenly checking in.” He caught how you stiffened at the sound of Emperor Dragons, causing Himchan to move closer to you in a protective stance. That small glimpse of weakness, however, was quickly overshadowed by a devilish, fiery smirk.

“Maybe they simply wanted the booze and good company,” You chuckled as you leaned back in your chair. “Either way. I am no snitch. Exits to the right, Special Agent Im,” You smiled at him politely. Jaebum let out a huff of air at your audacity. If he really wanted he could haul your back to HQ and interrogate you fine till the next morning till he got the answer he wanted. He glanced around the club, however, and knew that if he even touched you he would be filled with bullets. And with the glares Himchan was sending him, not only he would be filled bullets, but Himchan would guarantee that his unit would be a target. Jaebum scoffed, ran his fingers through his hair as he headed towards the exit.

“As fiery as ever,” Himchan smirked as you shrugged. “Pretty as flower but got a tongue full of poison.”

“Wouldn’t you know since you got a taste of that poison just of few weeks ago.” You raised a playful eyebrow. You were starting to fall back into the situation the two of were before. Playful. Teasing. Nothing too serious. A part of you felt relief. But you felt a pang in your chest. A pang that you wanted more than just playful flirting.

“It’s not nice to tease you know.” Himchan leaned him, a devilish smirk on his lips. Himchan was relieved that the two of you were back to this playfulness. You were too close to his heart. He knew that the first thing he should do when he found himself being attracted to you more than just physically he should have squandered those feelings immediately. You were a distraction for him. A possible weakness. But you were too tempting. Too seductive. A poison that he was addicted to.

“Snitches get stitches, good girls get kisses, and bad girls rule the world.” You smirked back. At your words Jaebum immediately stopped, his hand on the door handle of the club. The words. He had heard them before. The last time he had ever heard he was just a mere rookie detective chitchatting with his mentor and best friend.

“Missus got you whipped yet?” Jaebum chuckled as he finished the last of his paperwork.

“Aye, shut up you brat,” Scotty came over and ruffled the young boys hair. “And did you get another piercing you punk!” He playfully tugged the young boy’s ear.

“Shouldn’t you be more worried yourself than my piercings? Boss is on your with this case, third murder this month with gang related ties to Infernum. And you got the missus whipping you into shape.” Jaebum smirked as he sipped on his coffee.

“Haha very funny,” Scotty rolled his eyes as he looked through his files. “If you must know, my wife refuses to tells me any information about the possible witness that saw the murder. She has some…ties within the community and she refuses to tell me…” Jaebum raised his eyebrows at Scotty’s words. Scotty never mentioned his wife very often and if he did it was always very vague. Jaebum only knew two things. She was young and her name was Y/N. That was all Scotty was willing to divulge about her.

“Why don’t you go all police detective on her?” Jaebum teased. Scotty stared at the boy blank faced before tossing a paper airplane at the boy’s face.

“You know what she says to me when I tell her to be a nice girl for once and help me out? Her and that fiesty y as hell smart mouth of hers,” Scotty groaned, but an obvious grin was on his face. “Snitches get stitches, good girls get kisses, but bad girls rule the world.”

Jaebum immediately turned around, his usual professional and polished expression morphed into one of shock and confusion. “Y/N!” You jumped at the sound of your name leaving Special Agent Im’s lips. “Scotty’s wife Y/N!”

Your eyes went wide at that. How long had you heard those words together? Scotty’s wife. You weren’t the only one that was shocked, however. Himchan stared at you wide-eyed at the Jaebum’s words. You were married? Then the picture he found in your room…everything seemed to click. He didn’t like it. That you loved another man. That you were held and treasured by another man. Himchan felt as if someone punched him the gut. Was it jealousy? He didn’t wanted to admit it was if it was true. He had to keep telling himself after that incident that you were too poisonous, too dangerous. If he got too close to you….either he or you would end up hurt. Either ending was not ideal to him. He was a criminal, a gang leader. Emotional investments…they were dangerous.

“Out…” Your voice was barely above a whisper. “OUT!” You shouted glaring at Special Agent Im. But when Special Agent Im didn’t budge you immediately got out of your seat and went up to the man, dragging him out of your club, you leaving along with him and leaving a dumbfounded and confused Himchan behind.

Chapter 13: hi! well this what I thought of chapter 9

As I was reading the first chapter 9, I realized that you kept posting more chapter 9's and I got really confused. But then I thought that maybe it was for each member in the same scenario. (visiting y/n and doing stuff.. but just however they like) am I right? Idk but I'm srsly like the flow of this.

ok Ima talk what I think about the members.
yongguk makes me think he is very soft to who he likes but very cold and intimidating?

himchan he is may seem he doesnt care at all, but he actually cares about y/n but maybe has a hard time showing it?

daehyun might be flirty but... (right now my mind went complete blank after thinking about daehyun)

youngjae he seems like a more genuine person you know? idk he seems like he'd express what he's feeling at the moment instead of hiding it..

jongup he really has me like shocked. I know this is fiction but his character like really hurts me.. I read some other fanfic with one of the characters like a victim of this and that also hurt my heart. But jongup just makes me feel like idk it makes me feel more sad..

zelo he's like a little kid trying to follow his hyungs. Like he tries not to show his emotions and stay stoic but he just can't help but express them

well here's what i feel about this update. thx for updating author-nim~

Chapter 6: Wow! I just stumbled upon this while looking for something good to read, and let me tell ya, it's good. I like how the chapters are long, and full of action. Whether it's at the bar just casually talking, or a fight busting out, you make it seem so like real. With how you used creative wording to describe the actions of the characters, it makes me feel like I'm actually in the story.

I love how you create a image in your readers mind about the characters. Like you don't give out what the characters personality right away, and they give off a mysterious vibe every time a member gets mentioned.

Over all, just wow! This has had blew me away! I think this story is very good so far with the chapters you have posted. Keep up the good work author-him!~

(I don't usually comment a lot like this, all like describing everything.. so please forgive my really bad grammar... >3<)
