Chapter 5: When things get even more complicated for Kyuhyun
The Tangled of LivesSeoul National University, 2008
The car stopped smoothly in front of the lobby of the main building. A tall girl jumped out instantly, while the boy in the passenger seat lingered for a while.
“So, she is fine? Or does she need to go on another surgery?” Kyuhyun sighed. “I don’t know. No one sure about that. But she seems okay now. “ He cursed at heart when he remembered their fight this morning. “She wants to go to the exhibition tonight.”
Changmin patted his back. “Then go. She needed some release. I heard Hyukjae-hyung’s art works have this relaxing aura.”
Kyuhyun sent a thank you gaze to his cousin, “Yah, you’re right. I just don’t know if I can handle it if I go there only with her.”
“I’ll go with you.”
“You will?”
“I’ll tag along Wookie and Youngie. Those two needs a match maker anyway.”
Kyuhyun laughed. “And here I thought she was your match!” Changmin shrugged, “The world would be dying if I ended up with her.”
He never understood his cousin. The girl, Youngie, who was just jumped out of his car, was actually the best match for Changmin as Kyuhyun could not think anyone who could manage his cousin like her. But as they kept telling him, they were only best friend.
Then they heard that painful scream, “Oppppppaaaaaa, I need my breakfast!” Changmin raised one of his eyebrows, “See?” Kyuhyun laughed again, “Never say never, Min-ah. You never know what or whom you will end up with.”
Changmin jumped out from the passenger seat. “Drive safely and say hi to Yoona.” Yeah, Yoona. I have to fetch her at the hospital now. He waved and closed the window.
He arrived at the hospital early but still Yoona had waited impatiently in front of the emergency wing. He opened the door and let her jumped into the passenger seat.
“Sorry, I am late. Changmin and Sooyoung came with me so I dropped them at the uni just minutes ago.”
Yoona smiled. “It’s ok, Oppa. I was early. I hate waiting inside. You know all the sounds and the smells that reminded me of the last surgery.”
He looked at her and patted her head softly. “I am so sorry, Yoong. “
She laughed. “Why you are sorry, Oppa? You’re not the one who got me into this disease. My heart is already weak since I was born anyway.”
He smiled at her. “I know. It is just, I hate to see you sad.”
She suddenly stopped laughing and sighed. “I should be the one who said sorry, Oppa. You should not end up with babysitting me. You should get out there and found your soulmate.”
“Ouch!” He pretended to be hurt, “ You dump me?”
She smiled sadly this time, “I will if it’s up to me. Oppa. You deserve better than spending your life with a sick girl.”
He sighed. “Just let it go Yoong. I‘ve made a choice and I’ll stick to it. “ He peeked at the girl whose eyes suddenly welled with tears. “Don’t cry. I can’t stand to see you like this. “ He gave her his handkerchief. “So, princess, where to go now?”
She smiled even when she sobbed, “The administration building, I need to rearrange my credits.”
Kyuhyun and Yoona were childhood friends. Similar like Changmin and Sooyoung, they were each other shoulders to cry on when they were younger. Their parents were friends and long-time business partners. They had made a pact that one of each of their children had to marry each other, so they become real family.
So Yoona was engaged since birth to..... Jonghyun, Kyuhyun’s little brother. Strangely so, they both loved each other. So the engagement was not really a matter. But fate decided differently. A collision near their high school took away
