No. 48
Bleeding HeartsMina stared quietly at the cup of coffee sitting on her desk. It was perfectly made specifically for her. She glanced around, knowing that he had been sent to scout a new location with one of their coworkers, but wanting to make sure that he wasn’t around regardless. She inched closer to her desk and cautiously reached out for it. The first sip was heaven. It was the kind of coffee made by someone who knows you too well, the most comforting kind of all. She caught her reflection on the small mirror at her desk and froze, not recognizing the foolish smile on her face. One that was achingly familiar to the way that she used to smile when they had first met.
The type of smile an idiot gets when she has a crush on another idiot.
Damn it.
Mina grabbed her cup angrily, taking it to the sink and hesitating. She should just pour it down the sink is what she should do. But just as angrily as she had walked to the sink, she walked back, clutching the coffee cup tightly.
She sipped it thoughtfully for the next hour, fully aware that she was getting nothing done. Instead all she could do was think, a million thoughts racing through her mind at the same time coupled with a million different outcomes all ranging from bad to not as bad. No matter how she spun it there was no happy ending in mind… not really.
“Mina” Seohyun whispered in her ear, startling her as she finished the last of her coffee, “There’s uh… someone wanting to see you”
Her stomach did a weird flip as she sat straighter, “Who?”
Seohyun looked like she wanted to say, but instead looked around, “You should just go see”
Her stomach sank a little, of course it wouldn’t be Sehun, he would’ve just walked straight to her desk. What was she thinking? She nodded and stood up as she headed downstairs and towards the front desk. She stopped when she saw him, hesitating before approaching him.
“What are you doing here?” She asked as amicably as she could.
Minho smiled when he saw her, “I… wanted to talk. I brought you a drink hoping you wouldn’t mind sitting outside with me for a minute?”
“I’m at work right now” She said quietly.
“I know, I’m sorry, but I didn’t think it’d be appropriate to go to your house and didn’t think you’d want to meet me anywhere else” He said quite honestly.
Mina sighed and nodded, “Let’s go then”
The sun was bright, but felt good on her skin regardless as she followed him out to the benches right by the front door. He handed her a cup of coffee and she took a sip, making a face at the strong bitterness.
“Ah sorry, I forgot you like it a bit sweeter than usual right?” He asked, wincing as he took the cup from her hands and set it aside.
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it” She said, “Plus, I just had a cup upstairs so I probably shouldn’t be drinking anymore” She said, unable to stop the small smile that adorned her face.
He nodded and took a deep breath, “It occurred to me that I may have made a mistake by breaking up with you just because I got impatient. It occurred to me that special people are worth waiting for”
Mina stared at him, completely shocked. She had expected him to ask for the DVD he had lent her while they were dating, the one she had never really returned. She had expected him to say many things, but not this because usually her blatant fear of commitment drove men away and didn’t allow them to come back. She had in a way counted on that, no one ever came back. She studied him quietly, maybe only really truly considering him for the first time. Minho was pretty darn near perfect on the scale of boyfriends, he was nice, polite, sweet, willing to be there when needed and at one point had made her wonder if maybe it wasn’t time to let up, to let someone peek through the wall she had so carefully built around herself.
Timing wise, this was perfect too wasn’t it? Just in time to keep her away from Sehun. The perfect distraction from the problem at hand. A new relationship, a solid one, a real one was probably what she needed to stay away from him.
By all accounts, everything about this was perfect.

“I plan on moving to Seoul eventually, but it’s just no good right now. I don’t have enough saved up yet” The younger man said tiredly.
“Cheer up, Hae In. It’s all about making a decision and just sticking to it. You can’t waver, you can’t get defeated, you have to see it through until the… end” Sehun said, trailing off as he paused a few yards away from the front of their workpl
