Bleeding Hearts
“That’s it for the tour” Mina said stiffly, arriving back at the offices and taking yet another step away from him. It didn’t make much of a difference, but the further she could get away from him the easier she found it to keep her cool.
Throughout the entirety of the tour, he on the other hand seemed to have no trouble keeping his cool. That same teeth gratingly annoying smile sitting plainly on his face as he followed her around and asked appropriate questions and as much as she was dying to, Mina couldn’t bring herself to ask what she really wanted. It would be playing straight into his game and she refused to be dragged into it again, refused to be dragged back to him. If she acknowledged him, she acknowledged everything about them from the past. If he wanted to play dumb, so could she.
That still didn’t mean it was easy she decided as she headed back to her desk, Sehun following dutifully behind her.
He grabbed her by the arm suddenly, holding her back midstep. She could feel her pulse skyrocket as she braced herself for whatever stupid little speech he was going to give. Something probably about forgiveness or taking him back or whatever. She didn’t want to hear it…. not really.
“Watch it” He said with a large smile on his face as she stood dumbfounded.
“... What?” She asked quietly.
“You’re going to trip on that box of papers” He explained, nodding towards the box on the floor.
She froze for a split second, feeling every bit like the fool they both knew she was before she pulled her arm back and turned around, her face burning hot with embarrassment.
“Thanks” She said simply, sidestepping it and going to sit at her desk.
Idiot, you’re an idiot Mina. Big speech? Were you really expecting him to give a big speech? What is this the second grade? He knew, he knew exactly what you were expecting...
“Sehun you’re lucky you’ve started today! This is when we do our weekly get together! We go out as an office for drinks and since you’re part of the team now you’re expected to come” Seohyun said with a grin, approaching them both as the entire office agreed.
“Sounds fun, I’d love to get to know all of you better” He said brightly.
Mina grimaced, already feeling sick.
“Are you coming too Mina? As my official tour guide it only seems right” Sehun added, leaning against her desk with that large smile on his face only widening, his eyes sparkling with what must have been some sort of sick enjoyment at her discomfort.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to tonight, my dog needs to be fed and what not” She answered instead.
“Mina you must’ve forgotten! My niece agreed to do that for you tonight remember? You already paid her and she’s so excited about it!” Seohyun said trying to be every bit as helpful as she usually was, but this time not knowing the hole she was digging so helpfully for Mina.
“Right. I forgot” Mina said, forcing a smile onto her face.
She glanced up at Sehun who merely stared back at her curiously.
“You have a dog?” He asked.
No, no, no. Stop working your way back into my life. Stop learning details about it, it’s none of your business.
“Sure do, he’s great” She said, keeping her details short.
“I think that’s the least I’ve ever heard Mina ever say about her dog. Usually she goes off on a rant on how great and adorable her dog is! Show him the picture of when he was a puppy!” Sunah chimed from the other side of her desk.
Mina hesitated, slowly pulling out the picture on her phone. Almost mechanically, she held it up for him to see. He reached forward and she forced herself to not pull her arm back instinctively. He reached for the phone, tilting it so he could get a better look, his fingers wrapping themselves around the back of her phone and trapping her hand in between. A slow smile spread on his face as he studied the picture for far too long in her opinion.
“He’s adorable” He said, grinning as he finally released both her hand and phone.
“He’s very sweet” Mina replied, clearing lightly and putting her phone away as she tried to shake the tingling in her hand.
“Your desk is over there” Mina added after a moment of silence, “You go get settled in, I’ll be back”
He straightened out, “Shouldn’t I come with you instead?”
“Not unless you were planning on following me to the ba
