Bleeding Hearts
"No…. no, no, no, why?!” Mina asked in disappointment.
Baekhyun smiled on the other end of the line, “I had a huge project come up, I just won’t be able to make it” He explained.
“I’ll help you”
“No offense, but you really can’t”
Mina began to pace, trying to think of a reason, any reason to get him to come visit like he promised. It just wasn’t the same to talk to him over the phone versus in person.
“Bring it all here, you can just work on it from my house?”
“No can do, I need to meet with a few different people to get all the information needed” He repeated, currently lying back on his couch, playing some random game on his tablet.
“You’re abandoning me” Mina complained, sinking into her bed, sighing as Nuni jumped in behind her and began to her cheek.
“I think you can handle Sehun just fine, just stay cool, right?” He asked.
“Easy for you to say, this staying cool business isn’t working as well in practice”
“Why?” He asked, prodding her for information with a smirk.
“I just… he’s bothersome. He’s always walking around, a stupid smile on his face and I swear he’s finding reasons to be alone with me!”
“Coincidences?”
Coincidences had no business with her anymore. Everything that happened, she had learned happened for a reason. His arrival might have been a strange coincidence, but everything after that, most certainly wasn’t. Maybe she was being a little paranoid, but she had good reason to be. Whenever she was around Sehun she felt vulnerable, as if he could see straight through her and she wasn’t entirely convinced that he couldn’t. He had always been able to read her like a book and as much as she denied it, she was scared he could see the dim, almost nonexistent flicker of feelings that lived quietly buried away in the shadows of her heart.
She sighed, “I’m worried…. I don’t want him to get under my skin again”
“Would that be so bad? You really don’t want to happen?” Baekhyun finally asked.
Mina hesitated, holding her breath. Would it be so bad? To try again… was it even possible? Lately, everything felt so new, so different that she found it difficult to deny straight away.
“No. Never” She said finally.
With a roll of his eyes he shook his head, “Real convincing”
“Shut up” Mina snapped, “I’m going to go. It’s a beautiful Saturday morning and I’m talking Nuni on a walk”
He would have said something if he hadn’t been so busy laughing at her blatant denial. She said nothing and instead called him a variation on a colorful insult before telling him to take care, that she’d call him the next day and hanging up.
Alone with her thoughts, she rubbed Nuni’s belly as thoughts crossed her head quietly.
“I can’t be that stupid, right?” Mina asked the small fluff ball who care about nothing more than the continuation of the belly rub.
She moved so that she laid on her side and sighed.
“It would be dumb to allow myself to fall for him again, right?” She asked him.
The dog stared at her and blinked, his tongue flopping out the corner of his mouth.
“Right, you’re right, totally right, who would be that stupid. I’m better than that. Even if he’s different, it wasn’t meant to work out. We tried it and that’s that” Mina told herself as she sat up, much to Nuni’s disappointment, “I agree, we should do something to take our minds off of things instead”
Nuni blinked.
“A walk? Sounds great, you want a walk?” She asked as she hopped out of bed and got his leash.
Nuni stared at the leash and huffed, laying on her bed once again. Mina reached for him and he jumped back, again lying back on the bed. She sighed, reaching forward and finally capturing the squirming dog so that she could drag him out on a walk.
“You know” She said as she led him out with treats, “If you weren’t so damn lazy, you’d be lean and mean. I should have called you lazy instead” She scolded as she bribed him with treats so they could go outside, “Dogs are supposed to like walks, not just like to lay and run at home. At this rate, how are yo
