Chapter 7: Surprises Everywhere   "Sana-chan, I'm going to pick her up!" Momo said while grabbing a jacket from the chair's back.   "Okay, be careful, we still have oil right?" Sana asked coming out from the bathroom, her hands recently washed.   "Uhm... I think so, yeah?"     Sana rolled her eyes and splashed drops of water torwards Momo.   "Hey!" Momo yelped.    Sana giggled.   "Just go already, you're going to be late, I'll be waiting with dinner"    Momo smiled and opened the door making her way out. She heard Sana locking the door, something she had told her to do ever since they started living there. Momo did however have a spare keyset.     She loved picking Mina up from her ballet lessons. Not only because she enjoyed the walk there, not because she got to see some pretty awesome dancers if she got there earlier, maybe it was partly because the coach would offer her water once she got there —very needed water, since the academy wasn't that close to their studio appartment either.  But really, her favorite part was watching Mina dancing, it made the younger girl happy, she looked so alived. Momo also loved the walk back, Mina would always tell her what happened in that class, or how she thought she couldn't perform a hard move, but ended up doing it anyways after lots of practice. She would also mention here and there some classmates names, it made Momo happy. Knowing Mina was around kids her age, even if they weren't extremly good friends.    She arrived at the academy, she opened the door and made her way upstairs. She sat outside the practice room, on a bench that allowed her to see Mina. Another reason to usually be earlier was the parents of the other kids. She really, really, wanted to avoid being seen alone with Mina. She wanted to avoid those weird-looking stares. Momo had told the director of the academy and the coach that they were sisters. If they believed her or not, she didn't know, it wasn't that hard to believe anyways, both had japanese names, both speaked japanese and they acted like sisters. Momo thought of Sana as her slyly younger sister, and Mina the annoying little one that really wasn't so annoying more likely cute.    "Momo-yah, you are here already" The coach smiled at her from the door.    She had probably seen her through the mirro's reflection. Momo smiled.   "Hi" She said politely, smile still on her face.    The coach smiled. Momo struggled from time to time to remember the woman's name. She usually asked Mina about it, Korean names were a little difficult to remember, they all sounded similar. The easy part though, was their family name. That Momo could remember, the coach's family name was Kim. But she also remembered Sana saying it was rude calling someone by their family name «"Besides, it's a common family name, I doubt she'll be the only one to answer"» Sana had explained with a smile.    "Want some water? We still have twenty minutes left of class" the coach offered with a warm smile.    Momo hestitated, she opened but no sound came out from it. The coach smiled. She gestured for the girl to come forward. Momo, still hesitating, made her way to the practice room. Her hands were together, in front of her, her head hung low. She walked in an Mina was doing some extremly-hard-looking spin. Momo stared and smiled at her younger girl.    The coach noticed, she smiled too.   "Your sister is a quiet talented ballerina" The woman said softly, offering a white plastic glass to Momo.    Momo accepted the glass, she nodded and then lift the glass to her lips. Dang, water did feel amazing. Momo kept staring at Mina, the girl had been attending to the academy for about four years now. Momo and Sana had been able to pay every month, maybe with a little delay, however it didn't go further than three days. Mina was happy so Sana and Momo were happy.     There had been a couple of competitions, but Mina never mentioned them, Momo knew about them because the coach told her about them but Mina never did. Momo felt guilty everytime that happened, she didn't know why Mina wouldn't talk about them. First thing that came to her mind was money, maybe Mina thought the inscription or something was going to be too expensive. But when Momo told Sana, the younger girl's explanation seemed to be a little more logical, «"Maybe it's because she can't compete without proper shoes?"» Momo had wanted to cry that time. Sure the coach had offered to lend Mina some old shoes she used to wear back in the day, which were the onces she was wearing now, but let's be real here: They weren't Mina's shoes.   "Momo-san!" Mina yelled, snapping Momo out of her thoughts.    The younger girl hugged her tighly. Momo hugged back and smiled.   "You are earlier" Mina said happily but slowly.    She was using korean and it sounded so weird. At home they usually spoke japanese because, well, it was easier for them. It wasn't the first time Momo had heard Mina speaking korean, heck Sana made sure of that. They had this little korean lessons at night. Sana would make them repeat words with her, sometimes even write them down.    Momo nodded, she still didn't feel that comfortable with korean, and it just felt weird to communicate with Mina through a foreign language.   "Shouldn't you go back to spinning around?" Momo teased, in japanese.    Mina laughed.   "It's not 'spinning around' it's a pirouette" She corrected, in japanese as well.    Momo rolled her eyes.   "Whatever, you and your complicate names"    Mina stuck her toungue out and walked back to her classmates, who had been staring at her.    The coach besides her laughed.   "It's weird hearing her speaking japanese" she chuckled besides Momo.    Momo glanced at her and slyly smiled.    The coach went back to the class, Momo sat down on the floor. She saw the coach starting to speak, but the class interrumpted her. They seemed to be a little too excited.   "Seonsaeng, Mina says her sister knows how to dance too!"    "Can she show us seonsaeng?"   "Yes, please"    Momo heard all of that, but pretended she didn't. With a little of luck she could use the foreign card and just say she didn't understand. Yes, good plan. Too bad Mina couldn't follow it.    Next thing she knows, she heard Mina's voice.   "Momo-san, can you show us how you dance?" Mina smiled brightly.    Momo froze. She loved dancing, she really did, and she wasn't one to be ashamed about it. Heck, she had been dancing in some pretty weird places back when she was thirdteen —fourteen. It's not like she was embarrassed or something... Well, maybe that was the case this time, because she wasn't about to start dancing to some hip-hop beat in front of a freaking ballet class. Nope, not happening.   "I don't have music" she excused herself with a shrug.    Mina frowed, she turned to the coach, it seemed like they were talking. The coach then glanced at her.   "It's not like I only listen to classical music kid" she heard her laugh.    Momo cursed internally.   "Please Momo-san!" Mina begged.    Momo glanced at her, she was making that face. The face. Even if Mina was sixteen now, it still worked everytime just like when she was just ten. Momo sighed.   "Okay, you win"    Everybody stared at her, not being able to understand what she was saying. Mina smiled brightly.   "She said yes!"    Everybody started cheering, making Momo laugh. The coach smiled and walked to the laptop. Momo saw how she clicked and typed for a few seconds until some 'danceble' music started playing. She didn't know the song, but the beat was pretty cool. She covered her face with her hands and then looked at the roof.    The coach laughed, she gestured Momo to go forward, to the middle. Momo hestitated but walked there anyways, the class moving apart. Momo thought about which movements she was going to use, she wasn't going to dance all ily in front of teenage boys —even if there were only three, no way.    She started tapping her hand on her leg, following the rhytem. Her head followed. It wasn't extrictly hip-hop what she was hearing, but she figured she could work with it. She stared moving slowly, following the smooth voice singing the melody with her arms while swinging a little here and there. She heard a snapping sound from the beat, she followed it with her own fingers snapping. She smiled, she had to admit she was a little nervous because she was about to dance in front of kids who had spend years taking lessons while her skills had come from pure expirence.     The beat changed, she could hear hi-hights, she followed the rhytem with her fingers, it turned out a little messy but it was okay. She heard a crescendo, then a drop, the beat changed. She smirked and didn't doubt about her next move, spin. She heard cheers, next she did this locking motion, she was lucky enough that it matched the beat. She decided it was save enough to mix some popping with a little of contemporary dance moves. Some hip-hop fast moves for those faster parts, she heard the little 'drop' sound she had heard before the chorus. She smirked and hoped this would work, if not she was going to embarassed not only herself but Mina too. She dropped herself to the floor her hands forward, her knee waiting to feel the floor, her other leg extended, then lifted herself up just when the 'drop' sound was 'rewinding'. She heard more cheering and she laughed, happy it had worked. She kept on dancing, adding a little popping to make soft moves stiff a little when the snare came in. The song went back to the melodic beging and she went back to soft and delicate moves, when she felt like the song was about to finish she did this little spin while she slowly kneeled down, the song ended. She smiled, her gut never failed. It was quiet useful for spontaneous dance battles, really.    She heard claps and cheerings. She glanced at Mina who was smiling brightly. Momo smiled too.   "Where did you learn to dance like that, Momo-yah?" The coach asked her, looking surprise.    Momo didn't know what to say. Technically she had learn on her own, but lately she had been reciving some tips from other dancers at competitions.   "Uh... alone?" She tried, her korean knowledge not being enough for her to explain the whole situation.    The coach's eyes opened wide.   "Woah kid, talent must run in the family then" She smiled at Momo and glanced at Mina once.    Momo's smile dropped a little. She wouldn't really know, she didn't have a lot of memories of her parents and nor Sana nor Mina were really blood related with her. She slyly shook her head and smiled again hoping it was unnnoticed. Mina however seemed to notice.   "But still, my sister is the best, isn't she?"     Momo was taken aback, she glanced at Mina. She felt a warm feeling in her eyes, nod in her troat. She slyly cough. She wasn't about to have a freaking emotional breakdown in front of a bunch of younger kids, she was seventeen —eighteen, for crying out loud.   "Never thought about taking lessons?" the coach asked.    Momo left out a laugh.   "Aniyo, not for me" she chuckled.    They finally left the academy after lots of compliments for Momo from the class. Mina smiled all the time, Momo felt like an old sister who had done something amazing. She loved that feeling.   "Can we buy cookies?" Mina asked once they were heading back.    Momo chuckled.   "Sana-chan is going to kill us both if we don't eat her food"    Mina giggled.   "Okay, okay, but tomorrow I'm going to buy cookies"    Momo chuckled again.   "Come on kid, keep walking"    Sana really loved dancing, maybe not as much as Momo did, but she deffinitly enjoyed it and she knew she was good at it. So the first time Momo asked her to join some weird dancing competition two years ago, she didn't hestitate.   "Yes!" She said excited.    Momo chuckled.   "Okay, but we have to practice really hard, and it's kind of far away from here"    Sana tilted her head.   "Where is it?"    Momo shook her head.   "I don't know exactly, but I know how to get there, which is the important part really"    Sana nodded but was still a little suspicious.    They spent a week practicing none stop. They didn't lack coordination, they had been dancing together for years they knew each other pretty well and once in a while they would glance at each other making eye contact to make sure they were actually in the same page. Which they
