Chapter 12:  Sick (of it)

"I swear I'm going to kill whoever invented Maths" Chaeyoung groaned.

She pushed the workbook, notebook and pencils away and laid her head on the table. Dahyun chuckled.

"I'm pretty sure nobody knows who invented them"

 Chaeyoung groaned.

"Didn't that dude... Pee- uhm, Pay- no wait, Pioty-"

"Pythagoras?" Dahyun offered.

"Yeah, that dude" Chaeyoung nodded, her head still on the table "Didn't he invent Maths?"

 Dahyun laughed.

"Well, not really... He made the first Math school sure, but he didn't invent them, Maths have been around since the beginning of humanity so-"

 Chaeyoung raised a hand.

"Please don't" Chaeyoung groaned.

 Dahyun laughed at her friend.

"Come on you goof, you have to finish this" she told her.

She stood up from her sit perpendicular to Chaeyoung's and walked next to her friend. She lifted Chaeyoung's head, the girl whined.

"Can't you let me suffer in peace?"

 Dahyun rolled her eyes.

"Come on, it's not that hard Chaeyoung-ah!"

 Chaeyoung glanced at her.

"Easy for you to say, you're like, one of the smartest students in the school"

 Dahyun blushed and laughed shyly.

"That's not true, and is not that hard! Come on!"

Chaeyoung groaned again before resting her head back in table.

Dahyun rolled her eyes, she was going to scold her friend but then Chaeyoung left out a loud, heavy sigh.

"Arasso! But you're going to help me, and if I don't understand it's entirely your fault!"

 Dahyun chuckled.

"I'll take the risk then"

----------o-----------

Working at an ice-cream shop in the middle of winter wasn't exactly the best plan.

That's why Nayeon and Jihyo, with Jeongyeon's help, had searched for another job everywhere. Everywhere. From their neighborhood, to the center of town, the subway station, and the list goes on.

 Nothing.

Nobody was looking for new employees and the girls were about to have a mental breakdown.

Luckily, the owner of the ice-cream had overheard their not-so-silent talk and had walked over to them, offering a job at the groceries store three blocks away from there.

"It's my sister's, I can call her and tell her you guys are looking for something, I'm sure she won't have a problem" the woman smiled at them.

"Seriously ajumma?! Thank you so much!" Nayeon had said excitently.

 The woman laughed.

"No problem, just promise me you guys will be back on Spring, I do need some help around here"

 So they did.

The woman had called her sister, when she talked with Nayeon and Jihyo the next day, she gave them the good news. The girls were extremely grateful and didn't know how to thank her.

"I already told you kids, come back next Spring, that's all I'm asking for" the woman chuckled.

So now, here they were. Nayeon was in charge of re-stocking and helping the clients find whatever they needed. Jihyo was in charge of the register machine, as she had proved to be really quick with numbers and charismatic with the clients.

She was good at small talk, which old ladies loved. And she knew when to stop talking and just wish the client a good day. Unlike Nayeon, who didn't seem to notice there was a long line of clients waiting.

But still, the boss didn't fire her. The girl seemed to know a lot of people, men. Men who seemed to have a lot of money. Men who liked spending their money at the shop. Nayeon was staying for as long as she wanted.

"That'll be eight thousand, nine hundred, sixty three won" Jihyo said with a smile.

The client paid, bowed quickly (Jihyo bowed back) and left. She had watched the client while she looked for the money, but just in care checked.

 ₩8.963.

 All good.

She opened the register-machine and smiled at the sound it made. It was funny. She separated the money and closed it. She glanced at the clock and sighed.

"We're almost done" she smiled.

Nayeon's head popped from behind the third stand. She smiled too.

"Yup, soon we'll be back home, resting in our warm beds" she said dreamy and sighed.

 Jihyo laughed at her.

"Come on, finish your stuff, we still have ten minutes to go"

Nayeon mocked her while moving her head and went back to work. Jihyo chuckled.

----------o----------

Jeongyeon laughed at Seokjin's lame jokes.

 Namjoon groaned.

"Hyung, for the sake of everything beautiful, stop" he begged.

Seokjin ignored him and kept going.

"Do you know how cows laugh?" He asked Jeongyeon with a serious look.

 Jeongyeon chuckled.

"Enlight me"

"Moo-ha-ha!" He said loudly.

 Jeongyeon leaned forward and laughed.

"This thing is seriously funny for you?" Namjoon asked in disbelief.

 Jeongyeon shook her head.

"They're so bad it's painful, you have to look at his expression and how he tells them" she explained before bursting in laughter again.

 Seokjin smirked smugly.

"See? I am funny"

Namjoon rolled his eyes. He took a sip of the can of cold beer. Jeongyeon stared at him as he did so. Seokjin walked over to the table and grabbed his own, taking a sip too.

Jeongyeon just stared. It had been long ago since she had tried it. Back in the day she didn't really enjoy the bitter taste and couldn't really understand why people loved it so much.

Namjoon smirked, he held the can towards Jeongyeon.

"Want a sip?" He offered wiggling the can around just a little.

Jeongyeon took a quick glance at Seokjin. Namjoon chuckled.

"He can't tell you anything, you're an adult"

Jeongyeon frowned at the memory. The first time she tried beer, Seokjin had gone almost bald, he had been extremely angry.

She glanced at Seokjin once again. The man rolled his eyes. She raised an eyebrow. He shrugged and took a long sip of his own beer.

 Oh well

Jeongyeon grabbed the can a little hestitating. Namjoon smiled and chuckled.

"Just try it if you want, I'm not trying to push you or something" he clarified.

Jeongyeon stared at the can and frowned.

"I know" she said loudly.

Seokjin chuckled. The loud noise of a can being slammed to the table could be heard. Jeongyeon and Namjoon both turned to look at Seokjin. The man smiled sheepishly.

"Mian, didn't mean to do that" he laughed.

Namjoon rolled his eyes. Jeongyeon went back to glaring at the can.

"Jeongyeonnie, don't drink it if you don't want to, we have soda on the fridge, don't let this idiot make you feel presured" Seokjin told her, he was pointing at Namjoon.

"I'm not presuaring her! I just told her I'm not!" The boy defended himself.

 Seokjin scoffed.

"That's pretty much encouragement!"

 Namjoom opened his eyes wide.

"How does telling someone not to do something translate into encouraging them to do so?!"

"It's like saying 'don't touch the red bottom!' Of course they're going to touch it!"

 Namjoon groaned.

"Hyung, the beer got to your head right? What you are saying makes no-"

"It's better than I remember"

They stopped their argument and glanced at Jeongyeon. Her lips were wet, her hand holding the can infront of her.

 Namjoon chuckled.

"Well, when you first tried beer you had a very cheap one" he laughed.

Seokjin glared at him. He leaned into the table and slapped the back of Namjoon's head.

"Damn it! Hyung!" He complained.

"That's for allowing a little kid to taste alcohol!"

 Namjoon rolled her eyes.

"Is not like I forced her to"

Jeongyeon rolled her eyes. She took another sip of beer. It was bitter sure, but not as much as remembered. Maybe it had a lot to do with the brand. Who knows?

 She took another sip.

"Anyways, you were you going to tell me about Chaeyoung-ah?" She said.

 Namjoon looked at her.

"Yah! Jeongyeon-ah, my beer!" He groaned.

Jeongyeon took another sip, clearly showing she didn't care.

"Anyways" he sighed "Yeah, Chaeyoung-ah"

 She raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, this is going to be good" Seokjin chuckled and sipped of his can.

Namjoom glared at him before turning back to Jeongyeon, who eyed him suspiciously. Namjoom closed his eyes and sighed. Then he looked at Jeongyeon.

"So... Uhm... You know Chaeyoung-ah has been writting a lot of lyrics for a while now, right?"

 Jeongyeon nodded slowly.

"Yeah, so?"

Namjoon glanced at his hands. He started playing with his fingers.

"So... Last week Yoongi-hyung and I were talking with some of the guys around there and... Well, I told them about Chaeyoung-ah, they're close friends, I think you even know them"

"Your point?" Jeongyeon asked a little too harshly.

She was getting a bad feeling about this and Namjoom being so mysterious about whatever he wanted to say was making her anxious.

"Right, my point... Would you- I mean, can Chaeyoung-ah... You know-"

 Seokjin groaned.

"Oh, for Mario's sake! This boy is trying to ask if Chaeyoung-ah can participate in the next competition" Seokjin finally explained.

Namjoon turned quickly to him and glared as hard he could at Seokjin.

"What the hyung?!"

"You were taking forever!"

"That's not how you ask this kind of things! You have to ask carefully!"

"Carefully, not slowly!"

"I was thinking how to word the quest-"

"You should ask Chaeyoung-ah, not me" Jeongyeon spoke up.

Namjoon and Seokjin stared at her, surprised.

"I think the beer got her drunk already" Seokjin whispered.

 Jeongyeon chuckled.

"I mean, you should ask her first, I don't mind it, geez I'm not some kind of monster Namjoon-ssi, I won't kill you for asking" she laughed.

 Namjoon scratched his nape.

"I mean, you can get pretty scary when it comes to Chaeyoungie"

"Duh" Jeongyeon mocked "I'm her sister"

 Namjoon chuckled.

"So, you okay with it?"

 Jeongyeon nodded.

"Sure, as long as you don't leave her alone, it's okay"

"You won't be there?" Seokjin asked.

"Of course I will, but I doubt she wants her sister bodyguarding her with all those 'cool' rappers around" she chuckled with a hint of mockery.

 Seokjin laughed.

"Oh, you finally noticed?"

Jeongyeon glared at him. She moved the can close to her lips.

"Shut up" she murmured and took a long sip.

 Seokjin chuckled.

---------o---------

"Yah! The do you think you are doing idiots?!" Chaeyoung yelled loudly.

Her fits were clenched tighly. She was bowling im anger. She moved quickly, heavy steps. She was ready to punch those idiots senseless if she needed to.

 The boys laughed.

"Oh look, her bodyguard is here" one of them chuckled.

"Can't handle a little playtime on your own Kim Dahyun?" Another one laughed and kicked a book on tbe floor.

Dahyun just glanced at the floor with a glare.

"Are you deaf?! I said what the are you doing!" Chaeyoung yelled again.

She was now a few steps away.

"We were just having a little chat" one of the them answered loudly.

 The others laughed.

 Chaeyoung glare's became deeper.

"How about I have a little chat with the Principal?" Dahyun said softly, eyes still ok the floor.

She felt herself being pushed back, her body hitting the wall behind. Hard.

"The did you say ?!" The boy demanded.

Chaeyoung ran the few steps left, even if it wasn't really necessary and pushed the boy away.

"Don't touch her, you !" She yelled once the boy was a few meters away.

Another boy pushed Chaeyoung back. He was a head taller than her, still she pushed him back with a frown on her face.

"You want a fight little ?!"

Chaeyoung felt her jaw tightening unconsciously.

"Chaeyoung-ah, just let it go" Dahyun murmured next to her.

She really wanted to listen to her, but she was furious, adrenaline running through her whole body.

"Try me you useless piece of " she threatened in a low, harsh voice.

The boy laughed. He stare ahead of him, then his eyes travelled down to Chaeyoung's head. He smirk smugly.

"Little " he laughed.

Chaeyoung's fists were white. She was going to launch herself at him, but she felt a hand on her arm. She glanced at Dahyun, who pleaded with her eyes for her to stop. She glanced back at the boy and then sighed.

"Just go away" she told him as harshly as she could.

The boy started laughing, so did his two friends.

"Check this out, little is whiped for her girlfriend" he laughed.

He picked up his backpack from the floor.

"Fine you little er, we'll go, just because you made me laugh" he chuckled and then glanced at Dahyun "Yah, Kim Dahyun-ssi, your girlfriend won't save your next time" he warned.

Chaeyoung wanted to say something but didn't words wouldn't be enough to make him understand how bad she wanted to him up.

She wanted to beat the hell out of him, until he ended up in hospital, all his body with casts, needles in every single vein of his, his body fighting to stay alive, a huge oxygen tank just for him. Make that three, she wanted to up his friends just as bad.

Specially when they turned back, laughing and kicked Dahyun's books and notebooks everywhere. Finally they kicked her pencil case, which had been opened before. Her pencils and pens everywhere.

Once they were out of sighed, Chaeyoung screamed and spoon around, punching the air in frustration. Her hand running throw her hair.

"Goddamn mother ers! Those ing bastards, I swear, next time I see them I'm sendind them to hospital, they better have some good ing medical insurance to cover the whole treatment they're going to need once I'm done with them, even their hair is going to hurt! If I don't bald them first!"

Dahyun, who had been staring at her friend ranting, couldn't help but laugh. Chaeyoung glanced at her with a frown.

"Why in the world are you laughing about?" She asked just a tiny bit annoyed.

 Dahyun kept on laughing.

"You're hilarious when you are pissed off, you know that?" She asked still laughing.

Chaeyoung frowned, but once she took a good look at Dahyun's face she couldn't help but laugh too.

"Pabo-yah" Chaeyoung laughed.

Dahyun chuckled, trying to control her laughter.

"You are the one who wants to bald them!"

 Chaeyoung laughed even harder.

"Maybe I can even rip their eyebrows off, that would look funny" she said and laughed at the thought.

Dahyun glanced at her with an amused face.

"And No-Jam Chaeyoung-ah is back" she chuckled.

"Yah!" Chaeyoung whined.

Dahyun laughed again before she started gathering her stuff. Chaeyoung followed her, internally scolding herself for not doing it earlier, and started picking stuff up as quickly as she could.

"Anyways, are you okay? Did they do something to you? Because if they did, I'm running after those idiots and so help me!" Dahyun chuckled.

"You're going to bald them?"

"They won't have kids" she dead panted and kept on picking pencils.

 Dahyun glanced at her.

"I don't think they'll have kids anyway, no one can be so dumb to marry them" she said and gathered some of the papers that had flew away.

 Chaeyoung laughed.

"You're right"

Then minutes later, they were finally done picking everything up. Dahyun sighed.

"I didn't know I had this amount of things in my backpack" she chuckled softly.

 Chaeyoung chuckled too.

"Leave it yo you to carry every single photocopy they give you in class around"

"You never know when you need them!" Dahyun defended herself.

 Chaeyoung rolled her eyes.

"Well, I surely know I won't need them" Dahyun scoffed.

"That's how you plan on graduating?"

 Chaeyoung laughed.

"Well, that's why I have a friend who loves to explain stuff to me and it's smart enough for both of us" she smiled, her dimples showing.

Dahyun glanced at her and raised her eyebrows. Chaeyoung laughed.

"You should call your sister, you probably won't catch the subway now" Dahyun told her.

 Chaeyoung opened her eyes wide.

"Right totally forgot about it" she smiled sheepishly.

 Dahyun rolled her eyes.

"What would you do without me?"

 She chuckled.

"I'll be totally lost, oh Kim Dahyun-ssi, my favorite sunbae-nim" She said in a mocking town and walked over to her friend.

She linked arms with her and rested her head on her shoulder. Dahyun laughed and started walking. She handed Chaeyoung her phone, which she had taken out her bag a minite ago.

"Here, before Jeongyeon-unnie gets a heart attack or something" Chaeyoung chuckled and called her sister.

--------o--------

"Unnie!" Jihyo yelled from the kitchen.

"What?!" Nayeon and Jeongyeon yelled together at the same time.

 Jihyo laughed.

"Jeongyeon-unnie, what do you want to eat?" She asked, this time she didn't yell, but her voice was still loud and clear.

"Chaeyoung-ah!" Jeongyeon yelled from her bed.

"Ne?!" She yelled from the bathroom.

She had just finished taking a shower.

"What do you want to eat?!" Jeongyeon asked.

"Nayeon-unnie!" Chaeyoung yelled.

"Aigoo!' Jihyo sighed and rolled her eyes.

"I'm going out, you choose!" Nayeon answered.

"Arasso! Jihyo-unnie!" Chaeyoung yelled again.

"I asked you guys first!" Jihyo said back.

"Jeongyeon-unnie!"

 Jihyo rolled her eyes again.

Nayeon laughed. She stood up from her bed once she was done fixing her boots and walked out of the room. She stood in front of Jihyo.

"How do I look?" She asked with a smile.

Jihyo turned to look at her. She opened her eyes wide.

"Woah, unnie!" She said in awe.

 Nayeon chuckled.

"Good?" She asked just in case.

 Jihyo nodded.

Nayeon was wearing a tight black jean, dark brown low-boots, a white and pink striped long neck sweater. Jihyo also noticed her nails, painted pink. Her hair held with two white hair-pins. Her lips covered with matte brick-red lipstick. She wasn't sure what else she had used, but her make up wasn't extremely heavy, but it wasn't light either. It was a nice mix.

Jeongyeon walked out of her room and was surprised. She frowned at Nayeon's back.

"Going somewhere?" She asked, even if she had clearly heard her telling so to Chaeyoung.

Nayeon turned around, smile on her face. She nodded.

"Yup, how do I look?" She asked and lift her arms just a little besides her hips.

Jeongyeon looked at her from head to toe, arms crossed over her chest. She rolled her eyes and frowned.

"Good I guess?" She offered.

Jihyo smiled behind Nayeon. She was expecting some witty reply and was actually glad and relieved she wouldn't have to hear her two friends bickering back and forth.

"Thank you~!" Nayeon said in a cute voice.

She smiled, her cheeks becoming bigger, her teeth showing.

Jeongyeon groaned and rolled her eyes again. She walked pass her and into the kitchen.

"What do you want to cook?" She asked Jihyo.

 Jihyo sighed.

"That's why I was asking you!" Jeongyeon chuckled.

She walked over to the fridge and opened the door.

"Well, there isn't much we can make, really"

Jihyo walked next to her and took a look at the fridge's inside.

--------o--------

Dahyun took her eyes away from her homework when her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen.

 A new message.

She smiled, it was the middle of the night, only one person would text her at that time.

From: No-Jam's fake number

UNNIE!!!! OAHAOAHAOQBAOWVAOAVOQBALANQJFZOZBA!!!!!

She stared at the text with an lift eyebrow and an amused smile.

"This kid" she laughed.

To: No Jam's fake number

Yah, try texting in Korean!!!!

She chuckled at her own reply and waited for an answer with a smile on her face.

From: No-Jam's fake number

SHUT UP I'M ABOUT TO JUMP OFF THE WINDOW, I'M SO SO SO SO HAPPY OMG I CAN'T DAHYUN-SSI TELL ME I'M NOT DREAMING

Dahyun laughed at the text and wondered what could make the girl act like this. She didn't even think of what to say when the screen showed an incoming call. She laughed and accepted the call.

"Yoeboseyo?" She laughed.

"UNNIE!!" Chaeyoung's scream made her pull the phone away from her ear.

"Yah! My eardrum!" She whined.

 Chaeyoung laughed through the phone.

"Mianhaeyo unnie~" she said in a cute voice.

 Dahyun laughed.

"What happened?" She urged.

 Chaeyoung giggled.

"Remember the underground hide-spot I told you about?" She asked.

Dahyun nodded, she chuckled at her own clumsyness.

"Yeah, so?" She asked.

"Remember I told you about the performances and stuff?"

 Dahyun hummed in acknowledge.

"Right so... Who's going to perform next week?!" Chaeyoung asked excitently.

 Dahyun laughed.

"Uh... You?" She mocked.

"Son Chaeyoung ers!" The girl yelled through the line.

Dahyun laughed again, this time she had been smart enough to pull the phone away in time.

"Good for you Chaeyoung-ah, congratulations" she smiled.

 Chaeyoung laughed.

"Thanks unnie, I don't know if I should start writting more lyrics or just use some of the ones I already wrote"

 Dahyun laughed.

"You already filled a notebook and a half with those things"

"Well, there's a lot of idiots to rant about"

Dahyun laughed and it made Chaeyoung laugh too. Dahyun laughed even harder. She covered with her hand.

"See, I'm Yoo-Jam" Chaeyoung said in between laughs.

Dahyun's door opened suddendly. Dahyun jumped from her chair, surprised.
