Crimson Tears

They tell me that red is a color not to be associated with.
It's a vile color as it symbolizes blood that has been shed or even death.
However, they are wrong.
Red is a color that is strong.
A color with so much beauty yet deadly flair.

Red and I have become friends.
We first became acquainted when I first scraped my knee.
Red flowed gently down my skin.
It was also scattered across the cold snow.

My mother scolds me for being careless and told me to take better care of myself.
She doesn't know that I've become good friends with Red.
Red always appeared when I was in pain.
It was sad and pitiful yet comforting.

Growing up, people despised me, letting me know of their inner feelings.
That's when Red stayed for a while.
Red told me that in order for me to see Red,
I must cut.

I listened to Red, longing to be reunited with my friend.
It was painful but Red appeared, keeping Red's promise.
I kept cutting and cutting to the point that Red was dripping everywhere.
Red created a deep hole around me.

Whispering into my ear, 'Let go.'
Red comforted me, telling me to rest.
Ending my struggles, the darkness engulfed me.
Slowly as the life drained out of me, I felt Red smile.
'No more Crimson tears.'
