In Your Eyes

Shuya had never admitted to being smart. He wasn’t the dumbest man walking, but he could certainly admit that he could use more sense; a lot more common sense. Hindsight always showed him what he could have done better, and hindsight showed up for him a lot more than the average person, he was sure. This lack of sense never bothered him too much, as it didn’t bother most fools; he could only recall one time in his life when he really, really, wished that he had more sense. “So, you’re Shu Nishijima, right?" Shuya paused, looking down at the girl he just helped find rice cakes. She was fresh faced, and must’ve been new on campus; there were very few girls at AIASF that didn’t already know him. “Yeah," he confirmed with a nod. “That would be me." “Wow..." she murmured, her eyes widening as she looked up at him; Shuya raised an eyebrow. “You have a girlfriend now, right? It’s all that anyone ever talks about." Still? “Yeah, that’s true," Shuya said slowly, nodding again. “It’s been a couple of months already." “Really?" the girl said, pouting. He watched as her face fell, and she turned to leave without grabbing any of the rice cakes that she had asked him for. He smirked as he watched her disappear from sight, running his fingers through his hair before turning back to whatever he had been doing before she had interrupted him; it only took a few moments for him to remember, and then he was back at work. His day wasn't meant to be peaceful, he supposed; he wasn’t on his task long before he was interrupted again. “Shuya?" Shuya paused at the sound of this voice, setting down the oatmeal boxes he had begun straightening and turning around. He frowned at the sight of Erika walking up to him, a look of sheepish concern on her face. “Erika, what are you doing here?" he questioned immediately. “I was hoping I would find you here," she began, running her fingers through her hair. “I tried looking for you at your place but, obviously, I couldn't find you." “Find me for what?" Shuya pressed. The sheepish expression her face grew more intense. “I came to your school to see a friend of mine," she began. “And I was passing by one of the buildings and I thi
