CHAPTER 8
ONE MORE DAY
The sky was beginning to turn dark as night set in. As usual, the lights from the streetlamps had concealed any stars visible that night. Chanyeol found Kyungsoo staring up at the sky and turning his head here and there, searching for the stars he loved so much. But eventually, he lowered his head and let out a heavy sigh.
“If I could, I’ll order the whole world to switch off their lights,” Chanyeol said, trying to cheer his friend up.
“That way, you can watch the stars 24/7.”
“It’s okay, Chanyeol,” Kyungsoo looked into Chanyeol’s eyes.
“What you did…,” he fumbled with his clothes just like how he did every time he felt embarrassed.
“That was amazing,” he smiled, “And it would last a lifetime for me.”
“No stars are more beautiful than the ones you prepared for me, Chanyeol,” Kyungsoo said, earning a warm smile from Chanyeol.
“Thank you, it means a lot,” Chanyeol smiled back, “Coming from you.”
The walk home was breezy and rather cold. Both of them pulled their jackets close around their trembling shoulders.
“It sure is colder than usual tonight,” Kyungsoo commented, his teeth chattering. Chanyeol only nodded. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that something is going to go terribly wrong.
It wasn’t before Kyungsoo was already in the middle of crossing the road that Chanyeol noticed the blinding headlights heading their way. Instinctively, he raised his hand to shield his eyes. Then, like a jolt of electricity, he felt a shiver down his spine as he remembered Kyungsoo standing in the middle of the road. He lowered his hand just in time to see the car speeding towards Kyungsoo.
“Kyungsoo!” He reached out
