Chapter 1

Mr. Moon Understands Me

My eyes roved over Tiffany’s legs before I could stop myself. From her black and white converse, all the way up the silky expanse of her calves and thighs. She wore those denim shorts again. It was a miracle I could still see her well enough from the opposite end of the room. Is it getting hot in here? All of a sudden I couldn’t stop smiling. I took a long drink from the nearby Coca-Cola bottle to be less suspicious. Out of the corner of my eyes someone walked over. Good God legs. “You stole my drink while I was gone?”

“You took too long,” I replied, looking up at Tiffany’s face. She was smiling, flashing me the look that made my knees a little weaker than they were before, and fell down on the spot next to me.

“I haven’t seen that girl since freshman year, I didn’t think she’d know Kim that well to be invited to this party,” she threw her legs over my lap and I couldn’t help but grin as I placed my hand on her skin.  Tiffany stopped mid-drink and laughed. “What the Hell is up with you? No one slipped anything in this did they?”

“No, I just feel good about tonight.” It wasn’t a lie; tonight did feel good. It was as if there was something in the air that gave me nice vibes. Maybe I was getting secondhand smoke from one of those closed doors.

“Taeyeon! You showed up!” I jumped at the yell and an arm grabbed me in a near chokehold. I knew that voice anywhere.

“Matt! Too much!” I coughed and he let go with a restrained laugh, dropping into a chair. I always thought his smile was nice. His round face and round eyes made him very approachable; plus, the lone dimple on his left cheek made him pretty cute.

“Hey Tiffany,” he nodded and I noticed the drink in his hand.

“If anyone leaks then you’re gonna get kicked off the baseball team,” I noted and he shrugged.

“It’s only a little, I’ve been nursing it all night,” he grinned even more and I had a little trouble believing him. “Want some?”

“No, Tae’s driving tonight, she can’t drink,” Tiffany answered for me, curling her legs under my palm.

“I thought you said you didn’t take your test yet,” Matt raised an eyebrow, pointing at me with his beer.

“Yeah but Tiff wanted to drink so I’m taking the wheel,” I smiled gently as said girl giggled and I patted her leg. “Looks like the party’s coming to a close soon though.” Most of the people had gone, leaving the hostess with loads to clean up tomorrow.

“ where did Collen go?! He’s my ride!” Matt jumped up with even wider eyes. He set his bottle down and ran off up the stairs. “If he’s gone you’re driving me home too, Taeyeon!” he screamed without looking back and I snorted. He’s lucky I know where he lives. Tiffany sat up and took her legs off of my lap, leaning her head on me instead.

“You can’t do that, you’re taller than me,” I said but she hummed instead, a lazy smile on her red lips.

“It’s okay, we’re sitting down,” she insisted and I sighed, taking her Coke again.

I planned on coming back home at 11 but the clock suddenly read it was well past 12. I sent a quick text to my mother as a warning and brought my focus back to my friends, grinning at them. “Okay, what are the odds of you going to the neighbor’s house, waking them up, and asking for diet water?”

“What are you guys doing now?” I asked Tiffany, sitting beside her in the circle we made. There was only a handful of us left but we were having too much fun to leave.

“It’s a little game called “what are the odds of”. So, Sooyoung asked Ji what are the odds of him going next door to ask for diet water. He gives her a fraction like…” Tiffany gestured to the male and he tapped his chin.

“One in twenty,” he decided.

“Then the two of them have to simultaneously say a number between 1 and 20 out loud. If they say the same number, then Ji has to do it. If not, then he doesn’t and we do another thing,” Tiffany smiled at me as I nodded and we looked at the two as they prepared to say the number. I was getting kind of excited.

“Seventeen!”

“Eight!” Ji let out a deep breath and collapsed on the ground, hyperventilating dramatically. I chuckled as Sooyoung swore.

“Seems fun,” I muttered and that caught the tall girl’s attention.

“Then let’s go, Kim!” she clapped her hands and I laughed, putting my hand on Tiffany’s thigh.

“Alright, let’s go Choi! Ask me,” I challenged and she hummed, looking around the house. I was kind of hyper on sugar and adrenaline. On any other normal day I would’ve gone against participating in this game, it was like gambling, and my genes had an addictive trait in them. But it doesn’t hurt to put yourself out there a little bit, does it?

“What are the odds of you making out with Hailey?”

“What?!” my voice cracked and the girl in question looked up.

“Do you mind, Hailey?” Sooyoung wondered, ignoring my outburst.

“Nah, Taeyeon’s pretty hot,” she winked and I felt my face and neck getting hotter. Of course Hailey wouldn’t mind, she just got through a messy breakup with her boyfriend. She probably wanted to throw a wrench in his chain.

“Come on Taeyeon, you said you were gonna play,” Sooyoung snapped in my face and I could only stutter. Of course I thought Hailey was attractive, but I never thought about kissing her, let alone any girl. My chest felt like it was going to concave.

“One in a hundred,” I decided, clenching my fist as my challenger prepared to speak. I realized my hand was still on Tiffany’s leg.

“Oh my God, please get this right, Young! I need to see this!” Matt insisted, massaging the girl’s shoulders as Zack fanned her with a random piece of paper. I suddenly had a thought.

“If this does happen, and I mean if, no one takes a photo, no one takes a video, no type of media captures that image except your brain!” I demanded, rubbing my hands together. I would cry if my parents somehow heard about me making out with another girl at a party.

“Collen’s gonna kill me,” Matt patted his chest, pretending to cry.

“Okay on the count of three!” Zack called out, holding his hand in between us. What number should I say? I can’t kiss Hailey, not that I think she’s ugly, but I can’t. “One!” How is she so calm about it? Is it because it plays to her benefit, if her ex finds out about this? “Two!” Straight people shouldn’t be this defiant. I instantly panicked at my own thought. “Three!”

“Eighty-one!”

“Eighty-one!” I screamed. Everyone else screamed. If we were any louder, Kim’s glasses would shatter.

“Yes! I knew you’d use Tiffany’s birthday!” Sooyoung hollered, pumping her fists in the air. Tiffany. I couldn’t even look at her, I felt so embarrassed. Oh my God. I wanted to crawl into a hole and die, this couldn’t happen.

“Let me do it instead,” my best friend offered and I burned even more. I wasn’t sure if that was better or worse. I didn’t want to kiss any girl in front of a crowd.

“No, that’s too easy. She’d be way more comfortable with you.” Was that supposed to be true? It doesn’t feel like it. A hand gripped my collar and jerked my head up. Hailey was mere inches away and my heart almost threw up.

“This isn’t your first kiss right?” she asked, the sounds around us ceasing to exist. There was a lump in my throat and I swallowed. It didn’t help.

“No…” My voice was so puny I could’ve punched myself. The dirty blonde grinned. She’s a lot prettier up close. Her lips pressed against mine and I expected to feel sick or even appreciative of kissing another girl, but instead, I could only hold her waist and sink under. Thoughts escaped me. Her fingers brushed my scalp and a gasp escaped me. What is going on? I dug my fingers into her waist and she sighed a little. I didn’t do that. I took her lips again, only able to hear distorted words from the outside world. My brows furrowed as her tongue slipped against mine. A dozen chills shot down my back and I buried my nails in her skin.

“Oh my God.” Whose voice is that? With a bite to my lower lip, Hailey leaned back with a pop and I finally opened my eyes. When did I shut them? From behind the girl on my lap, I saw Ji and Sooyoung cheering. I just made out with a girl in front of my friends. Immediately, I felt the red return.

“Damn this girl packs a punch!” Hailey laughed, sliding off my legs, and I tried to hide my face in my knees. I didn’t want to admit it out loud, but when Hailey complimented me, I felt a surge of pride in my chest. I finally found the courage to bring my head up and Sooyoung laughed.

“Dude you are so red!” she pointed and Zack was immediately on it, waving the paper in front of my face. I couldn’t help but laugh a little bit. A little part of me was still confused, but for some reason, after kissing Hailey, I felt a lot lighter.

Matt hopped out of my van and waved goodbye, but not before patting my shoulder and saying how hot it was that Hailey and I kissed, and Tiffany put her hand on mine. I looked over. “I told my mom I’d be staying with you tonight, just head to your house,” she mumbled tiredly and I hummed, putting the car into reverse to back up out of Matt’s driveway. “Did you have a good time?”

“Yeah, tonight gave me good vibes,” I smiled as I stared at the road, leaning back a little when my streetlight turned red. Going out, experiencing something new, gave me a sense of relief and fulfillment I didn’t know I was longing to feel again. My house wasn’t far from Matt’s, but when I parked and moved around to open the door for Tiffany, she was totally half asleep. I chuckled. “Fany, come on, we’re home,” I poked her neck and she groaned, pouting a little. “Hun.”

“Carry me,” she opened up her arms and I sighed, unbuckling her belt before wrapping her arms around my neck and her legs on my waist. I never touched her too much, I wasn’t sure how much skin ship she could handle, so I knew that she must’ve been pretty tired and drunk to ask to be carried. I placed a hand on her back as I locked up the car and supported her weight with the other arm. I tried to ignore how Tiffany’s heels were digging even more into the small of my back.

I stood at the front door and used my knee to keep Tiffany up and pulled out my keys. Where’s…my house key? I patted my pockets before groaning. , now is the night that I forget my keys?! “Backyard…” Tiffany mumbled and I grunted, holding her in my arms as I walked around, opening the fence gate to slip into the backyard. Pretty soon though, my arms were getting tired, and the steps up to the patio did not help my weakening grip.

“I’m gonna put you on the reading chair, okay?” I told her and she nodded, probably smearing lip gloss on my neck, and I eased her into the cushioned egg shaped chair. My father enjoyed reading outside, so he bought the chair so it’d be comfier instead of a regular plastic one. I tried opening the door but it was locked. I sighed. Fine, I guess we’re stuck outside then. My family members would all be sleeping right now and I didn’t want to piss anybody off by calling in the middle of the night. Good thing Dad takes naps out here too. I walked back to Tiffany, who was curled up into a cute little ball, and slipped onto the chair myself. “Move over, I have a blanket,” I told her and she wiggled to the side, letting me sit and throw open the comforter.

“Lucky it’s nice out,” she muttered, resting her head on her arms as I leaned against the back.

“Your eyes aren’t even open,” I replied and she laughed a bit. I looked at the sky. But it is nice out. I closed my eyes and stretched my arms out, letting the limbs rest on the chair.

Within moments I was nodding off but then I felt warm hands gliding over my stomach and back. They reminded me of the kiss I shared with Hailey and I forced my eyes open, almost frowning when I saw Tiffany holding me. “What are you doing? You’re not this touchy-feely,” I mumbled, getting a little weak when she tightened her grip.

“I could say the same for you,” she noted and I smiled for some reason at the memory. It was a fun game, especially when I wasn’t the one casting odds. “That was weird.”

“Not comfortable with it?” I wondered, blindly letting my hand rest on her head. She shook.

“Not that, it was just out of character,” she said, her voice pressed against my side. “Was she a good kisser?”

“Yeah.” I didn’t think before speaking. I chuckled, pushing my hair out of my face. I could still sort of feel Hailey’s lips on mine, remembering the way she took control of me. “Didn’t think I would like it, but I kinda do.”

“You like her?”

“No, well, she’s pretty and kisses well…but no. I’m just attracted,” I breathed, my fingers circling on Tiffany’s scalp.

“To just her or other girls?” My hand stopped for a millisecond, but went back to massaging her head. I opened my mouth, ready to be ambiguous about the topic, but I remembered how much I loved Tiffany’s legs and couldn’t even lie to myself.

“Other girls,” I answered.

“I see…” she let out a breath. Then the night was quiet, except for the full, full moon that started to laugh.

Chapter 12: This was...wow. A breath of fresh air, to say the least.

I love the fact that Taeyeon's thoughts have no-filter here. Very raw and poignant and /real/.

Also, since it was Taeyeon's POV, we're all more inclined to feel for her and think of Tiffany as selfish etc etc, but I would have to say my favorite part was Tiffany falling apart when she thought that Taeyeon left her after their 24-hour deal. It helped showcase how deep Tiff's feelings actually are for Taeyeon, and that made me love Tiffany, imperfections and all. But...*cough* I may also be a biiiit biased on that end hahahaha since unlike most people, I tend to see myself in Tiffany's shoes rather than Taeyeon's.

Thank you for this! <3
