Mission: Child's Play

The Organization

(No POV)

A blinding light shone through his pupils. A blink later it shut off to reveal the kind face of Dr. Lay.

"Well, there's nothing wrong. Your headaches may be because of the pain or post trauma from your last mission," Lay diagnosed with a small smile. He dusted off his pants, removing the blue rubber gloves from his long fingers.

"Thanks I guess," The hitman hopped off the table, scratching his temple. It was just to make sure... that he wasn't going crazy or something.

"Oh yeah! It also could be-" the sentence was cut off when a loud gunshot echoed. A holler sounded immediately after through the office walls. Sharp spouts of light laughter soon followed.

"What was... that?" Luhan's eyes bulged at the sudden gunfire. What was it that Lay was going to say?

"Oh it's probably the others," his dimple poked out, as if it was a normal around here. Then again, it probably was.

"What were you saying?" he practically begged. The younger doctor seemed to daze off before his eyes.

"Ah, it could also mean that your memories are returning. Have you experienced any symptoms of flashing memories or odd dreams?" Lay asked with smiling eyes.

"Not really? Just pain...," A feeling of dejection rushed through his body.

"It'll happen, I believe in it," the doctor offered a sympathetic pat on the shoulder.

"Thanks I guess..." A wave of sadness rolled off of Luhan's slouched form.

Lay shifted uncomfortably at the sight, trying to think of a way to cheer up the older man. Then the memory struck him.

"How about I take you to the others, you'll want to join in on the fun!" The doctor was a bit too chipper for Luhan's liking. He had just heard a gunshot a few minutes ago.

Luhan hesitantly followed after Lay, who held out the door for the older.

Another round of bullets fired, the same cheering shadowing after it.

"Hyung! You're so cool!" Tao's nasally voice fangirled at the scene before him. He was dressed just as well as the day before, decked out in jewelry and leather.

"I am, aren't I?" Baekhyun spun around his heel, striking a pose before his audience, the James Bond stance. He aimed the empty fire arm around jokingly, muttering small phrases under his breath like the spies did in blockbusters.

That earned him another wave of Tao's catcalls and Chanyeol's shouting.

"Che- I was cool too," Kris sneered with a childishly upset expression. He threw the gun in the air to catch it gracefully, but with the slip of the finger he was stumbling to catch it.

"Kris!" A man with a foxy expression doubled over in laughter. A bright red colored Kris' ears. His image was ruined.

"Um.. what's going on?" Luhan spoke up behind the doctor. Kris and Baekhyun were both standing in front of the shooting range, two targets hanging a few meters away. Two empty tables separated them from their audience. Five other men, two of which he'd never seen before sat in foldable, metal chairs, watching.

"We're having a contest here, which I've won twice so far!" Baekhyun skipped over to Luhan, placing the empty gun in his pocket, "you should give it a go. Put together the parts of the gun, aim and fire. Simple, right? You'll be judged on speed and efficiency. A fun way to train!"

Yeah, a fun way to practice killing people.

"Who are those guys, by the way?" The older nodded his head in the direction of the others.

"The funky looking one is Chen. Information dealer," he earned a loud "hey!" from Chen. Baekhyun just turned back around yelling, "Ay hey hey hey funky Chen!"

Luhan simply hummed in response, absorbing the new information. Chen, that guy seemed like a fun guy. No other words to describe him, just a fun guy.

At that moment Kai walked in through the same door, carrying an array of gun parts he placed on the tables. Kris pointed at Baekhyun, challenging him to another battle. The other agreed sassily, pointing a finger gun at Kris, before hovering over the table, waiting for the timer to go off.

Luhan instead walked over, noticing Xiumin watching with interested eyes, sitting behind them all.

"You aren't competing?" Luhan wondered, it seemed like the others were having a ton of fun, and Xiumin was also a hitman.

"I usually don't, this is their time to show off, I prefer not to," he watched on, like a parent watching his kids play at their playground.

Another gunshot sounded, in a flash, Kris standing on top, finally, and the two were now neck to neck.

"C'mon Xiuminnie hyung!" Baekhyun popped into the conversation, throwing his gun angrily at Kris, "don't be afraid, if it's because you don't got any tricks, it's okay!"

"I'm not falling for your attempts Baekhyun. Your taunts may work on Kris, but not me," Xiumin smirked when Baekhyun realized he saw through his plan at reverse psychology, "I'm the one that taught you after all."

"C'mon, Xiu, at least show off your moves to the noob here, if you are the one that taught us," Kris jabbed a thumb at Luhan, blatantly insulting his status. He held up his chin, feeling proud for their boss.

"Are you... showing off... for me?" Xiumin raised a humored brow at the first member. Waiting eyes followed him, for he was actually thinking about it. Luhan looked at him expectedly, "okay, but no game. I'll show my skills and leave."

Minseok raised his arm quickly and everyone's eyes immediately focused on the wooden human shaped target. A few fires sounded but the figure was untouched, not even moved a millimeter.

"Um... Xiumin, are you okay today?" Suho asked nervously. Their leader never missed, never.

"Yes, why?" his expression was neutral and Luhan felt like he was missing something.

"You missed?" Lay fiddled with his white lab coat.

"I didn't miss," Minseok smirked and tossed his gun so it landed in Luhan's lap. True to his word, he leisurely walked out with a little skip in his step.

Everyone looked at each other, clearly confused at what just happened. Lay even asked if he should give the hitman a checkup later, to which many agreed to.

Luhan was just focused on the gun in his lap. What was that? He hadn't missed, at least not on purpose. His head perched up, looking around for what he did shoot.

There.

The hitman stood slowly, ignoring his new group members. Something caught his eye.

In the farthest corner of the shooting range, where a row of dummies lay, a single hole was embedded right where the forehead was. Beside it, each dummy had an identical hole located in the exact same spot.

"Guys, look," he saved his hand over to them, inspecting the damage closely. It sent chills up his spine.

Now that was a trick he had up his sleeve.

Baekhyun quickly rushed over, wedging himself on Luhan's left hip. A low whistle escaped his lips.

"As expected, our leader. Quick and efficient," Luhan still felt the disbelief. Sure, a gun felt natural in his hand, but this was tricky. It was one to fire like this, but at a distance in which professionals hadn't even noticed.

"I knew it! He loves to show off," Chen howled with an amused snort, "this guy says he's modest but I wouldn't believe it if I'm seeing this with my own eyes."

"What does this guy think he is? Yoo Shi Jin? Salute," Kris' gummy smile made an appearance. Xiumin was unbelievable.

"Now that the fun is over, the serious part comes now," Baekhyun mocked an army Sergeant, making slow strides back and forth before Luhan. Somewhere between his speech Luhan had also picked up an army stance, standing straight with his hands behind his back.

"We can't have what happened last time, and Kris wants you to have proper training, but to update your profile, we'll have you test yourself in all fields of what it takes to be a hitman.

Luhan nodded slowly. He felt himself wonder. What was he like before the accident? These guys wouldn't exactly know much either. He was new around here either way. How were his kills? Could he match up to the others? He'd never know.

"Would you happen to have my file?" Luhan had the fleeting curiosity to find out what kind of man he was, and if he'd ever become that person again.

"Maybe, it'd be somewhere in Xiumin's office, but it's locked for most of the time."

"Can you.. take me there, before we start? I want to know what kind of person I was before... you know," Luhan bi his lip, not used to Baekhyun being uncharacteristically serious.

"I doubt there'll be much, let's go."

The two had a silent trip to the living quarters where a long corridor was located. At the base of the hall was a closed door, probably locked like Baekhyun mentioned. It called for Luhan dangerously, and it was all Luhan could focus on.

Baekhyun knocked twice.

"It's Baekhyun and Luhan," he voiced, hoping the walls weren't sound proof.

The door made a small buzzing sound before it unlocked itself with a small click. Not even the smallest stream of light shone though the small crack. Baekhyun and Luhan gave each other nervous glances before pushing the door open.

A bulb suddenly gave them an image of the room. The room was pretty spaced out, or maybe it was just the lack of furniture. In the corner there's a file cabinet. In the center, only a small light on a rather plain desk.

"Um... Xiumin?" Baekhyun cleared his throat when his voice cracked. He himself had never been in here, only a select amount of people have. Suho, Kris, and Lay. He was just as skittish as Luhan at the moment and for moments to come.

"What's up?" The boss looked up from whatever he was reading.

Wait, how was he reading in the dark?

"Luhan here was wondering if you had his file, to get to know his old self," Baekhyun tried to get himself out of the awkwardness, despite his boss being a close friend, so he pushed Luhan forward.

"His profile folder? Sure," Minseok nonchalantly stood and opened the file cabinet that, weirdly, had no locks, and picked out a manila folder. With a small flick he threw it carelessly onto the table, "go for it."

Luhan opened the folder marked "Lu", noticing how thin the thing was.

What drew his attention was a candid photo of what he recognized as himself, taken at some point of his life. That part was given, but was made him think was the dark shadow behind himself. It was barely in the shot, but it was there.

He decided there was nothing he could work with so he analyzed the document clipped behind it.

Torture

All of the basics were what he already knew. His name, his birthday, all the good stuff, but looking down... Kill rate? Killing? Torture?

"Kill Rate, 93.5%," Baekhyun whispered over Luhan's shoulder, "that's extremely high, you were pretty efficient yourself. My kill rate is around 65%, which is still considered high."

That explained a little too much. Luhan just realized something. He was dangerous. Extremely dangerous. Then the killing and torture. Killing was something he would just blink at, he knew that, but torture too? He was pretty good with a gun during his early training, but that was a quick death. Not the same as torture, a long way to make your victim suffer as slowly as possible.

"You know, your nickname, Lu, I've heard it around here and there, you were pretty well known, for being well, the dangerous hitman, who was equally dangerously pretty," Xiumin piped up as well. Luhan couldn't tell if that was a compliment or an insult.

"We can add things to the list, or update it later," Baekhyun placed a hand over his shoulder, giving it a squeeze. He wouldn't have expected this either.

He flipped the page over, only one page remaining.

"Can we see the others?" Luhan's voice came out rough and sandy, his tongue dry. This was too much.

"No."

"eh? No?" Luhan hadn't expected that answer.

"It's not for your eyes, it's private, unless Baekhyun wants to reveal his own," Xiumin looked over for his permission.

"Sure, I haven't seen it in a while."

Xiumin got out another folder, this one packed with other files.

"I've gone on more missions than you have in our database, it makes sense it would be larger," Baekhyun explained, opening the folder, setting aside the clear profile shot of himself back a few years ago.

"Why's mine all out?" Luhan asked, it's not like Xiumin didn't know his name, and his age was a given because he'd already shared it.

"That's up to the decisions of your old boss, I have yet to update your files," Luhan only noticed now the bags under the leader's eyes. They were faint, but his stature didn't seem to look tired. Then again, they say the eyes are the windows to the soul, "Well, is that all you needed?"

Luhan beat Baekhyun to the answer, shaking his head no.

"Get some rest please, you seem tired, boss. Thanks for the help," Luhan smiled warmly, a feeling of protection washing over his once feeling of anxiety. He pushed Baekhyun out of the room, seeing Xiumin's small twitch of the nose and a nod of thanks.

Note: Liked my references to Descendants of the Sun? Yoo shi jin?

If you were wondering, the Yeongdeungpo District really does have a Red Light district (e central)

I think my next fic will be school based or purely romance,
action is hard to write! ; v ;
