Chapter Two
The girl he loves
“Wendy is such a freak.”
“She is indeed a freak. You guys won’t believe what I saw earlier in the restroom! After all those times she was deceiving everyone. She wears a wig, her brown hair is blonde. Her eyes aren’t even dark brown, they’re sapphire blue.”
“She wears lenses everyday?”
“Wait! How come she’s blonde and blue eyed when she’s Asian?”
“Someone said her mother is Canadian. I’m sure she inherited it from her.”
“I bet she’s insecure and afraid of being judged.”
“Whatever! She looks fake in her true self.”
Wendy sat in her seat, small hands folded on her lap, eyes focused in a certain distance and her mind was somewhere else.
Although her classmates’ voices sounded muffled to her due to spacing out, a pair of warm hands from behind clamped over her ears, completely blocking her hearing.
Cautiously, she stared up, meeting gazes with Vernon who had an annoyed look on his face.
Just like the girl, he wasn’t good at hiding his emotions.
“Is something the matter?” asked Wendy like an innocent child.
Vernon released his hands as he settled down on his seat.
“They’re talking bad things about you. It annoys me.”

“Just ignore them.” she lifted a smile. “Their rudeness defines who they are, not me.”
“How come it bothers me, but it doesn’t bother you?”
Wendy didn’t know whether to blush or giggle.
“Giving a damn about those stupid bullies is not good for your health you know.” she ended up giggling.
“I don’t give a damn about them.” Vernon chuckled. “It’s just, I don’t understand why they look down on people whom they don’t like.”
“Let them say whatever they want, their venom can’t poison me.”
It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t true either because if Wendy did understand what kind of horrible words they were throwing behind her back, she would have crumbled.
To begin with, she was a sensitive person who breaks down easily.

Vernon wasn’t one of the popular kids, but he was adored by many, mostly by girls, but sadly that adoration was only because of his irresistible allure and his good looks.
Wendy at the other side was a victim of bully.
She was their favorite target.
They enjoyed pretending to be nice at her while backstabbing her when she wasn’t around, telling the world everything they hear about her, and mostly, they enjoyed spreading false rumors.
As the break time came by, when the two of them walked in the cafeteria together, a hurricane of gossips and tittle tattles were propagated, more specifically by the bullies and their batch.
“Vernon and Wendy are dating?”
“Are you serious?”
“How could a freak like h
