Chapter Seventeen
The girl he loves
Wendy was lost in a world of her own, stargazing in the balcony of their own apartment.
Vernon said he wanted to stargaze together, but he ended up observing her since the second they walked in the terrace.
He couldn’t help it when the girl’s profile looked so serene in the moonlight, her golden blonde hair catching the rays of the moon, making her look like she was wearing a crown of stars.
No matter how many times he called her name, his girlfriend’s attention was still on the breathtaking scenery above them, but he didn’t bother because sometimes love means looking at your loved one even if they won’t look back.
He let her be. Then his mind suddenly drifted to their highschool days where lots of people talked bad about their relationship and judged them, telling them that they were no match for each other.
How funny, many people said they would never make it, but look at how far they’ve become.
They’ve come a long way indeed.
They started as strangers who labeled themselves as ‘Miss Awkward and Mr. Headphones’ since Wendy was completely awkward the first time they met, meanwhile Vernon often had his headphones on instead of paying attention in class, especially in History and Physics.
They were seat-mates who became close friends in a short time because they got along so well.
Then they turned into best friends who soon became a couple.
And tonight they would bloom into something new.
Tonight he would ask her to be his wife.
“Wendy.” Vernon spoke after a very long silence and he was glad when the girl finally responded.
“Yes, dear?” Wendy stared up at him.
He heaved out a breath, hoping that she won’t laugh at his sudden question.
“You know that I did fall in love with you for a reason, right?”
“Because I’m beautiful, right?”
“Of course you’re beautiful, but that’s not it.”
“What is it then?” Wendy grinned as she asked curiously.
