Chapter Sixteen
The girl he loves
Cautiously, Seulgi brushed the tangled knots out of Wendy’s blonde hair.
Even though it was as smooth as silk, it was a serious task to do considering how a bit thick it was.
Whenever her friends brushed her hair or played with its strands, it reminded her of her beloved mother.
If she closed her eyes, it would have been her mom holding the comb.
She often wondered how life would be if she didn’t die too soon.
It was hard to imagine it, but one thing she was sure of was that her former wicked stepmother would have never showed up in her life if her biological mother was still alive.
But sometimes it doesn’t matter anymore because it had been exactly a year since her stepmother was sent to jail, a year since the Kang family became her new guardians, and thirteen years since her mother died. And that was one fact she had been learning to accept, that no one could ever bring the dead back to life.

Seulgi dashed to the door and the moment after she opened it, a wide smile spread across her face.
“Hey, best friend.”

“Am I interrupting something?” Vernon asked as he approached his girlfriend.
“Not at all.” said the girl. “Seul was just playing with my hair.”
“Let’s go out then.”
Holy crap! Wendy cussed mentally. A date? He’s here on a date? And I’m in my freaking pajamas, face tired, hair tangled and half brushed.
“But I’m a horrible mess right now.” Wendy pouted as if she was saying, should I change or not?
“You’re fine as you are.” Vernon smiled, offering his arm.
“Okay then.” The girl grinned shyly as she happily linked her arm with the boy. “Catch you up later, Seul.”
“Have fun, lovey doves!” Seulgi shot the couple a wink before they exited Wendy’s room.

They went to a house that the Canadian girl had never been before.
At first, she panicked, thinking that Vernon broke in, but turns out it belonged to his paternal grandparents. It may look simple and average from the outside, but behind the mask of its simpleness was a luxurious mansion in the inside.
The Choi family was indeed rich and wealthy, but it was never obvious since they were always known for being humble.
Oh my god, this looks like a royal palac
