Epilogue [Part Two]
The girl he loves
While other boys only cared about Selene’s dreamy eyes, glowing skin, and rosy cheeks, Mingyu at the other side payed attention to something else.
Instead of fawning over her, he admired her.
He admired her crinkled eyes whenever she laughed and how it turns into crescent moons whenever she smiled.
He admired her silly grins whenever he cracked a joke, and how she would still look stunning even when anger or frustration is smeared on her face.
And most importantly, he admired her for being imperfect.
Sure thing he loved her for her unique beauty, but she was more than that, and that’s what mattered to him the most, the little things.
“Mingyu’s mother told me that you became his girlfriend, is that true?” Wendy didn’t hesitate to ask once her older daughter stepped into the dining room.
It was dinner time, and everyone was seated on their usual seats.
Eyes widening, Selene flopped on her chair beside her mother.
“Y-Yes, mom.”
“I guess your siblings weren’t lying after all. They once told me that you’re in love with Mingyu.” Wendy said softly.
“You rascals, don’t tell me…” Selene diverted her gaze to her mischievous, twin siblings.
“Yes, unnie. We read your diary.” Scarlet cut in, an innocent grin played on her small lips.
“Unbelievable!” Selene raked her slender fingers through her hair and casted a glare on the twins, but she didn’t bother to argue.
Despite their endless mischief, Scarlet and Alec were only kids, so Selene was sure that they didn’t mean to pry on her diary which she preferred to call personal journal since diary sounds a little bit childish.
“Oh, I almost forgot! Your mother and I have happy news for the three of you.” said Vernon once they finished their meal.
“What is it, dad?” Selene hummed, anticipating.
Their parents glanced at one another before telling their children.
“You’re going to have a new sibling.” Vernon announced with a big smile embracing his face.
“Really?” The Choi siblings said in unison.
Their parents beamed gleefully.
“Is it a boy or a girl?” Scarlet and Alec asked. Excitement radiating from their adorable faces.
“Well, the fetus is only four weeks, so we don’t know yet.” Wendy replied, softly patting the twins on their heads.
“As much as I want another sister, I hope it’s going to be a baby boy.” Selene confessed, glancing at her seven year old brother. “A boy would be great, don’t you think so, Choi Alec?”
The little boy nodded vigorously. “Yeah, a baby boy would be great, so I can finally have a playmate.”
Scarlet pouted sadly. “What am I then? A statue?”
“My bad, Scarling.” Alec stuck his tongue out teasingly.

Every night Selene would pray that their new sibling would be a baby boy.
Not because her younger brother wanted a male playmate, but because her parents always dreamed to have another son besides Alec.
So by the time Wendy went to the hospital for the gender reveal and it turned out to be a boy, the family were over the moon, especially she and her husband.
The baby was a healthy one, brought peacefully to the world.
His name was Ahren, named after one of Wendy’s favorite characters in a book. The name meant “soar high”, because when he was born, his parents felt like their hearts soared from happiness.
“Aww, he’s still tiny!” squealed Selene, peering through Ahren’s crib.
“Of course. He’s only one month old.” Mingyu flicked the girl’s foreh
