Chapter Twenty
The girl he loves
Even without a piano, a guitar or any other music instruments, Wendy’s voice still sounded effortlessly musical and soothing.
As her adorable, two year old baby daughter continued to watch her singing, Selene’s eyes didn’t shift to any other direction, it stayed locked upon Wendy’s and the mother felt her heart flutter.
It was a good feeling when someone pays attention to you even when the person was only a mindless child.
“Your talented mommy can pass as a singer, right?” Wonwoo asked, ruffling the baby’s hair.
As if she understood what the man said, the baby swayed her head from right to left.
Wonwoo chuckled at her reaction. Choi Selene was a lovable, sweet child, and he adored her like she was his own daughter, bringing her many toys such as plushies, teddy bears, dolls and legos.
She enjoyed playing legos the most, but she would often break apart the ones that her parents build for her and they would spend hours to piece them back together.
A little grin played on Wendy’s face as she observed her little girl on the floor, smiling endearingly with her tiny teeth, and chewing on a piece of pink lego.
“I hope she’ll be as strong as her father when she grows up.”
“And as strong as you too.” said Wonwoo as he carried Selene from the floor, placing her on his lap.
“I’m not that strong.” The twenty-three year old lady looked away.
“You’re just shy to admit it.” The latter smirked, a twinge of tease in his voice.
“Shut up!” Wendy stuck her tongue out.
Of course she believed that she was strong, for she was born with a storm in her eyes, thunder in her soul, and a hidden strength in her heart.
Brave, and once broken people like her were one of the strongest in the world.

Her pig-tails bounced over her small shoulders as she skidded her way to the classroom, but before the eight year old girl could make an entrance, someone from behind pulled her hair with force, causing her to yelp in pain and stumble backwards.
Selene didn’t have to look up since she already knew who the culprit was.
It had always been like this. Greeted by the bad kids, especially that certain girl and she fully understood why they never get tired of taunting her and bullying her.
They bully her because she was different. They labeled her as an alien because of her mixed race, Korean-American from her father’s side, and Korean-Canadian from her mother’s side.
Much worse, they call her a freak because of her blue eyes like Wendy’s own and her American features which she inherited from Vernon.
“You and your ugly hairstyles!” The bully crouched down, pulling Selene’s hair ties. “Is that all your boring mother can come up with? Braids and these stupid pig-tails?”
“Don’t you dare insult my mother, Ayumi.”
Despite them being children, the bully was unflinching and doesn’t waver even if you spat at her.
She was the top bully in class who often made fun of Selene’s race which was actually ridiculous and ironic because Ayumi was also a mixed blooded child. She was half Italian and half Japanese.
“Whatever you say.” she cackled as she tightened her grip on the victim’s hair. “Cry a river if you want. No one’s going to save y-”
“Take your hands off of her, Ayumi!”
Upon hearing her name, Ayumi immediately released her grip as she turned around, meeting gazes with a boy their age, but he wasn’t in the s
