Meeting the instructors

I'd Tell you I Hate you but then I'd be Lying

~Jonghyun POV~

I winced when I heard the curtains being pulled open. I glared against the light, only to have a smile planted on my face when I saw Key, who had the cutest bed head.

“Wake up sleepy head, you’re walking me to class.”

I moaned and turned over, pulling up the blankets until it reached up over my head. “Five more minutes~”

He giggled and I heard the pitter of his feet approaching me. A dip was made in the bed as I could hear him getting closer. Suddenly, I felt a lot of weight on my back.

“Unf, what are you doing?” I mumbled and turned over, pushing away the blanket and stared up at a very amused looking Key, who was sitting on my back.

“You’re squishing me” I chuckled. He rolled his beautiful eyes and bent over a lot so his face was very close to mine. “So, wake up.”

I blinked and nodded, trying my best for my blush to not be noticeable. “Get off me then”

He giggled and peeled himself off of me, finally allowing me to breath a little again. “I’m gonna get you back, you just see.”

“Yeah, okay sure.”

I sighed and went to my closet to put on my uniform while he went to the bathroom to put on his. When I was finished, I messily combed my hair and knocked on the bathroom door to brush my teeth.

“Key, are you done?”

“You can come in” he said. I opened the door and kept my jaw from falling when I saw him in his uniform.

I know there are some girls that can make our school’s boring uniform look hot, but Key made it just plain y. It seemed to be hugging his body and his pale skin was flawless. He still had his bed head, but was working on fixing it I guess because he had a can of hairspray in one hand and a straightener in the other.

“Jjong? You okay?”

I snapped back to attention. “Ah, yeah sorry. I just need to brush my teeth.”

He scowled and walked up to me. Suddenly, he intertwined his fingers in my hair. “Geez, as cute as your bed head is, you should style your hair a bit.”

He combed my hair with his fingers and I could feel him sometimes even twirling it. My heart was about ready to explode if he didn’t suddenly pull away and take the straightener to straighten my hair.

“You don’t have to, you know.”

“I wanna”

After a few minutes, I looked in the mirror and saw that it was completely straight, a big difference from earlier. “Oh, thanks” I flashed him a big smile.

He mirrored my expression and pushed me out the bathroom. “I have to get ready, and you should start getting your things together!”

I pouted but obeyed and went to get my books and backpack, although I wanted to stay and watch Key. Maybe I should make breakfast. I grinned and went to the kitchen.

I decided to make rice and fried fish with kimchi. After I got all the ingredients out, I just crossed my arms and stared at them. How the hell do you do this? I don’t have any idea how to cook!

Okay, frying fish shouldn’t be so hard I sighed. I poured some vegetable oil into the pan and the stove so it was between medium and high. I stood there a while before I saw that the oil was able to slide around easily, then I dropped the fish in.

Too bad I’m such an idiot though, because the hot oil bounced up and hit my skin. I stumbled back and let out a string of curses, rubbing my arm where a small visible burn was starting to appear.

Maybe I was really loud though, because I suddenly felt a tall figure grab me from behind. I whipped my head around and almost bumped noses with Key, who’s colorfully highlighted hair was now straight. “Are you okay Jonghyun?”

I bit my bottom lip and shook my head because honestly, my skin on my arm hurt like hell. He quickly grabbed my arm and ran it over cold water, soothing the pain a bit. He grabbed ice out the freezer and dropped it in a plastic bag before wrapping it in a thin towel. He placed it on my arm and ordered me to sit on the counter.

He sighed and turned around to lower the heat on the stove. “You’re such an idiot” he giggled. Gosh, his laugh sounds like little tinkling bells.

I sat there and just watched as Key made breakfast. The way he moved seemed so... intoxicating. I shook my head to get my thoughts out of my mind. Stop it Jonghyun, stop! Ever since last night, I’ve been so attracted to him. Maybe I’m just .

I sighed and dropped my head, pressing my forehead against the cold countertop. What was wrong with me? I’ve never been so crazy about a guy before. I’ve been bi, but I’ve only been dating girls and had secret feelings for guys that went away as soon as they started.

“Jjong?” I peeked up a bit and saw Key’s cute face again. He was kneeling down and had his hands face down so the palms were against the table. His chin was rested on the top of his hands and he was pouting. He looked like a kitten. I stumbled back, but maybe I overdid it. “Woah, wah!”

My stool tipped over, making me try to stay upright even though there was no point. I crashed on the floor and groaned as I sat up.

“Jonghyun! OMO! Are you okay?”Key panicked as he rushed to my side and sat beside me.

“Yeah, just testing the gravity in this room…”

He giggled as he helped me up. “Don’t make me laugh when I’m worried.”

I smiled sweetly at him before he turned around and said breakfast was ready. I rubbed my head because honestly, that fall hurt like hell.

Breakfast was swallowed in a comfortable silence, except for the occasions where Key would ask me about the school.

He put our plates in the sink before I lead him outside. “So, we’ll go to morning dance practice, then we have English and P.E., study hall and…”

I trailed off, listing our schedules and anything else. “We also have about a fifteen minute passing period so we don’t really have to worry about being late.”

He nodded and sighed. “Jjong, do you like it here?”

Do I like it here? “I like it better than my house.”

“Why?”

I screwed my lips to the side and shrugged. “Well, I didn’t have a great relationship with my dad. And my mom left us after she divorced him when he beat her. I came to this school because my dad sent me here so he didn’t have to see my face again.”

He didn’t say anything but I could see pity in his eyes. I quickly changed the subject. “So, you have a ‘son’ back where you’re from?”

His face lit up and he grinned widely. “Yep, his name is Taemin. I’ve been friends with him since he was 10 and I was 12. And I’ve been his umma since he was 16. He’s so cute and an amazing dancer, he might enroll here.”

“That’s cool. So…”

I was about to bring on another conversastion when we were attacked by a bunch of girls.

“Omo! You’re Kibum, right?”

“You’re more cute than we heard!”

“Oppa, what’s your number?”

I frowned. Why did all these girls know about Key within a night? He didn’t even look bothered by all them! Maybe he was used to it? I frowned and was about to push all the squealing girls away when someone already did it for me.

“Move, pardon me, comin’ through…”

I smiled at the voice. Surely these people would move now that she was here, but they didn’t seem to hear her so she did what she had to do and what she did best: shout.

“Yo! Get the hell outta the way!”

Everyone jumped a bit in shock including Key who grabbed my arm thinking it was some kind of violent chick. But nope, what walked through the crowd who had separated just for her was Amber Liu.

She walked up to me and grinned, putting up two fingers in a peace sign. “What’s up Jjong?”

“Bringing the new kid to class.”

She smiled at Key who had now relaxed and held out her hand. “Nice to meet you, I’m Amber, a friend of Jjong’s.”

He grinned back and shook her hand lightly. “Anngyeong hasseyo Amber-sshi, I’m Kibum.”

She burst out laughing, startling the boy a bit. “Drop the sshi and all the formality. It cracks me up. Just call me Amber cuz we’re friends now.”

The three of us started walking together back to the school building as Amber and Key got to know each other.

“So, has Jjong hit on you yet?” she suddenly asked.

My face was colored pink and I hit her arm. “Amber!”

Key just laughed and shook his head. “So, you’ve been friends with Jonghyun for a while?”

“Yep. He’s my bro” she grinned and swung an arm over my shoulder. I grabbed her wrist and pulled it down as I laughed at Key’s shocked face.

“Omo! You guys are really siblings? I thought you looked like twins!”

She roared with laughter before she put her other arm around Key’s neck. “No, pabo. People call us the dino siblings because we apperantly ‘resemble the prehistoric monsters’”

“But why would they call you guys a monster? You’re so cute!”

She laughed. “Thanks I guess.”

I rolled my eyes at the two as we walked into the studio.

“Okay Key, so this the dance studio and...”

i was interrupted by a squeal as our trainer’s assistant ran up to us. “Morning Jonghyun, hey Amber. Is this our new student?” she pointed to Key.

“Rumors fly and spread like the flu” Amber sighed.

I ignored what she said and nodded. “Minzy, this is Key. Key, meet Minzy. She’s the assistant to our trainer/coach, even though she just started highschool. She’s been friends with me and Amber for a while. You’ll have to meet a lot of people.”

She stuck out her hand which Key took and shook. “My grandfather was a famous and legendary folk dancer. He taught me to dance, along with my father, but what they did seemed so, you know, formal. So, I started dancing to pop music and soon enough, here I am, the youngest trainer assistant in Seoul Academy” she beamed. Show off.

“Yeah, yeah Minji. So can we start practice now?” Amber sighed. Her friend pouted but jumped up.

“Yep, but soon as Taeyang gets here. He’s late again.” she pouted and pulled her phone from her hoodie pocket. “Oppa where are you~” she sang into the phone after a few seconds.

We could here muffled screaming from the other side as Minzy laughed bubbly. “Yes, it’s already 6 o’clock! Get your to the studio, I’m starting without you today!”

She shook her head and hung up, putting the phone back into her pocket. “Stupid oppa overslept again. Whatever, we can start without him” she shrugged.

We nodded as she clapped her hands together loudly and shouted. “Alright, everyone, get changed and hurry! Taeyang won’t be here ‘til later, so I’m in charge for now.”

No one seemed to hear or listen so I poked Amber’s side and she immediately knew what to do.

“Get your asses to the dressing room before I kick it there! Minzy’s in charge, and I highly advise you to not piss her or me off.”

The students started moving right away and i was about to follow the group of boys making their way into the locker room when a hand tugged on my sleeve. “Mm? What is it Key?”

“What am I supposed to wear? What’s my locker number and combo? I’m so confused!”

I chuckled and sighed. “Well, we just wear sweats, so no worries. I have an extra pair of pants and an old shirt in my locker. As for your locker, I have no clue. You’ll just share with me and we can ask Taeyang about it when he gets here.”

“Who’s Taeyang?”

“The main dance instructor. And...”

I twisted my head to see Minzy was far away doing streches. Good, she might not hear me.

“Minzy’s childhood friend and crush”

Key’s jaw dropped and turned into a grin. “Really? That’s so cute!”

I laughed and wanted to tell him that he was the one who was cute, but decided against it.

I lead him to my locker and handed him my extra clothes. When he took them, he pouted.

“Look away.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Why?”

“I’m not as built as you are, and I don’t want to be embarrassed by my skinny body.”

I rolled my eyes but turned around. What a diva. I changed myself and turned around finally to see him in my shirt and pants, which were a little big on him.

“They’re too big” he frowned and I shrugged.

“Oh well, now let’s go!”

He rolled his eyes playfully and smiled that charming smile of his as we followed the rest of the class out.

I saw a boy with a mohawk and dressed in black and white leaning against the wall talking to Minzy. She perked up when Key and I started walking towards her and Taeyang. “Oppa, here he is” she beamed.

Taeyang turned around and looked at Key. “Ah, you’re the new kid? Anngyeong, I’m Taeyang, the main dance instructor. Welcome to morning dance class!”

He grinned and nodded. “I’m Key.”

“So I’ve heard. Well, just to get you informed, so this is the one of the few dance classes that meet in the morning. It’s not one of the periods during the school day though, so you won’t be graded on anything. We meet every morning at six sharp and-“

“You have no right to tell people to be here at 6 exactly” Minzy stuck her tongue out and Taeyang did the same.

“Whatever. Anyways, I’ll give you a locker tomorrow, but for now, why don’t you dance to something?”

“Sure, like what?”

“Hm… well, let’s see what the first song is.” He pressed a button on the stereo, and the first thing we heard was “Don't lose your temper so, So quickly”

Minzy roared laughing along with Taeyang. I couldn’t help but laugh a little too, after all, Bo Peep was a dance that was made for girls. How would Key look dancing to it?

He just laughed a bit too, but stood in the middle of the large room and started moving his wrists up and down as soon as the music had started, matching the actual dance perfectly.

I watched him, moving his body along with the rhythm, to every single beat, and when he started the part when he shook his with his wrists crossed over one another, that’s when I felt like I was going to lose it.

Minzy and Taeyang were still laughing, but Key paid them no mind. The other boys and girls had finished changing and were watching Key’s y dance.

Some boys whispered to one another and smiled slyly. erts. The girls squealed and hit each others arms like they were just way too excited. And some people took out their phones and taped his dance.

The song was over, and everyone immediately rushed to Key telling him what an amazing dancer he was.

Now I’m normally a pretty patient person, but I just had to talk to Key so along with almost every other student, I pushed my way through the thickening crowd.

He wore a grin so bright I was almost blinded. He thanked everyone and turned to me, Amber, Minzy, and Taeyang.

“Damn Key, that was y!” Amber burst out. He laughed and said a thanks in reply.

“How’d you learn to dance like that?” I asked curiously.

“My baby taught me”

Now, my jaw literally dropped and Amber laughed at my shocked expression. “You have a boyfriend?!”

He scowled and hit my arm. “No pabo! I mean my baby Taemin.”

Taemin? As in his son? I sighed a sigh of relief and nodded. “Ohh…. Kay.”

He raised an eyebrow and I hoped he would look away. To my relief once again, he finally did and walked through the crowd.

After a few more minutes of praising the diva, Taeyang clapped hi hands together and ordered for us to do some stretching. I sat behind Key, and he sat next to a chatty Amber who went on and on about rapping.

I couldn’t help but stare at Key more. How could he be so flexible? He didn’t even look a bit in pain as he did these insane flexibility exercises that Minzy ordered us to mimic.

I frowned but finally, warm up was over.Taeyang clapped his hands together. “All right, so today, we’re going to continue to work on pop dancing.”

I tapped Key’s shoulder and gave him a thumbs up when he twisted his head. He smiled and did the same before the music started blasting and we all started moving along to the rhythm.

~Minho POV~

I roamed the streets, looking for something to do. Why couldn’t anything fun happen so early in the morning?

I checked my watch. 6:23. Classes would be starting in less than 40 minutes, I had plenty of time.

I strode around the streets lined up with various stores that sold items from jewelry to pets until my curiousity got the better of me again and I checked the time. 6:30. Only seven minutes? I sighed and ran my hand through my long dark hair. Maybe I should just head back. Better safe than sorry.

As I my heel, I was about to walk in the direction of Seoul Academy when something caught my thoughts and pulled me to turn around again.

It was music, but it seemed far away. I tilted my head and walked in the direction of the mysterious sounds. It was pop music, something Taeyang hyung had made me dance to when I was still in morning practice.

I stopped when I came to a corner, and right around it was a fountain. And by the fountain was a stereo that was booming music. And dancing perfectly to the music was an auburn haired boy.

His body matched the rhythm, every flick of every part of his body seemed to become synchronized with the beat. Every sly and slow move was flawless and y. This boy was a perfect dancer.

People passed by and tossed coins or bills into the hat that was set on the side of the fountain where the stereo was seated.

A street dancer? Why was he on the streets when he’s so damn good? I frowned. People like him deserved better.

Once the song was over, his chest was rising and falling rapidly. He took a bow before he sat atop the fountain ledge to fix his shoelace that had become undone.

Why did he give off an atmosphere that seemed so innocent and cute? His eyes were practically screaming “love me” and his smile was curved up enough to the point where it was perfect and showed his dimples.

I wanted to know who he was. He was probably poor since he’s collecting money from street performing. Maybe I can help him. I was about to walk to him when all of a sudden, a rather tall man ran from the small applauding crowd and took the hat that held the money.

“Hey!” people yelled in unison. Certain by standers started running for the theif until everyone was gone but the boy. I took this as a chance to talk to him.

“Why don’t you stop him?”

He was still breathing rather hard, but he managed to shake his head. “It doesn’t matter. I don’t dance for money, I dance for the passion and thrill.” He beamed.

I shook my head and started running away and in the direction of where the horrible thief was last seen. People were still running as well, but most have given up and stalked away until I was the only left. The only one determined to stop that man and make him give back that poor boy’s hard earned money. After all, what did that boy do to deserve this?

I finally came to a street that was ended with a wall. In the soft morning light, I made out a tall and scarily buff figure who was clutching a hat tightly.

I took him by the collar of his shirt when I’d caught up to him. “I don’t think that belongs to you.”

He sneered and pushed me away, and that’s when I noticed he was way bigger. “Whatcha gonna do ‘bout it?” the way he talked said enough about why he needed money in the first place.

I brought my fist up and swung it. Next thing I knew, there was a loud thump that rang through the narrow street and he was on the floor with his hand on his jaw.

“You don’t deserve this” I said as I picked up the hat and started running back to the fountain where I found the boy. He was dancing to a new song, one that I heard Amber listening to before.

When he saw e with his hat, his jaw dropped. “Omo, you…”

“There’s a lot of money in here, so I don’t think you should lose it so easily.”

He smiled gently and nodded, taking the hat from my hands. “Thanks.”

I nodded, but I couldn’t seem to tame the butterflies in my stomach. I wanted to talk more to him, but I checked my watch and saw that it was already 6:45. , I gotta go.

I turned and started running away, not hearing the boy’s words that he yelled through the streets or Seoul.

What was I doing anyways I can’t get close to people out here, it would just be painful to know that I can’t see them.

After all, I can only manage to sneak out every once in a while. Or more.

My phone rang. It was Jonghyun. “Minho, get your to school. There’s someone I want you to meet.”

I sighed as my pace quickened. “Hyung, did you try set me up again?”

“What? No pabo! The new kid here, he’s… interesting. He has a little of a diva attitude. Okay, well a lot of diva attitude. But he doesn’t act like that around me at all, only a little sometimes. Oh, and he-“

“Yeah, yeah I get it Jjong, you like the new kid. I’ll be there in ten minutes top.”

I shut my phone, which only works to other S.A. phones. Too bad, I could have gotten that guy’s number and ask him why an amazing dancer like him was dancing on the street. Why does my school have to be so strict?

Well, there’s always tomorrow. This mysterious street dancer was what made me want to sneak out even more.

I quickened my pace and decided to try to find him after school once again.
