Changwook stared at the contact number on his phone screen, then looked away to towering buildings across his balcony. He sighed and went back to staring at the contact number. Finally he decided to press the call button but aborted it right away as the dialing tone was heard. His hands were on the back of his neck, he inhaled and pondered repeatedly. Three times he tried calling, three times he always ended up aborting it. After half an hour of staying outside under the Seoul night sky, Changwook gathered his courage to finally call the number for real. His hand that wasn’t holding the phone gripped the edge of the balcony hard. “Hello?” Woman’s voice? Changwook wasn’t answering right away. “Hello?” She said again. “Ah, yes. Is this Jung Tae Il’s number?” Changwook nervously said. “Jung Tae Il?” The girl answered confusingly. “I’m sorry, but you got the wrong number. There is no Jung Tae Il here.” Changwook sighed out of disappointment. His phone nearly fell off his hand. He spent so much time trying to find this person who knew where his sister might be just to find out it’s a wrong number. “Hello? Hello?” a man’s voice sounded. Where’s that voice coming from? Changwook was startled and realized he didn’t turn off his phone. “Yeah? I’m sorry, it seems like I got the wrong number. I was looking for Jung Tae Il but…” “I’m Jung Tae Il,” the man interrupted, making Changwook jolted. “You are Jung Tae Il?” The man sighed heavily, “Yes, I am.” Finally Changwook could talk to the person he's been looking for so long. “I want to meet you and talk,” Changwook started. The man across asked suspiciously, “About what? And I’m sorry but who is this?” Changwook’s grip on the balcony hardened, “I was told that I could meet Soojung through you. And I also got news about Ji Eunhee.” “Ji Eunhee?! Who is this?!” His tone changed. Changwook could sense uneasiness in his voice. “My name is Rudy Lee and I hope we can meet face to face with you soon. I will explain all later…Tomorrow afternoon? Okay, I’ll be right there.” Siwon sipped his coffee and checked his watch. His meeting time with Tiffany was still ten minutes ahead, but Siwon preferred to come earlier. Today Siwon asked Tiffany for lunch to compensate for their failed lunch almost two weeks ago. Siwon was ready to deal with Tiffany’s anger and wrath, but when he called this morning, the girl surprisingly picked up his call on his first try. It’s strange because since he left Tiffany at lunch, she didn’t even reply to his message, leave alone answering the phone calls. Siwon admitted he was wrong, but Siwon was sure he could ask for forgiveness from Tiffany because well, it’s the first time. The restaurant’s door opened and Siwon saw Tiffany walking toward him smiling. “Halo, oppa,” Tiffany greeted and put her cheek to his. “You’re early as usual.” “I like waiting. I don’t mind,” Siwon answered. Weird. Tiffany seemed fine. Not mad. She’s not pissed. “You’re not with Rudy?” Tiffany took off her coat and sat across Siwon. Siwon shook his head. “No,” He answered. Somehow Siwon felt uneasiness looking at the calm Tiffany. Especially after he made a terrible mistake. Wasn't she mad because of it? It’s highly unlikely. Tiffany seemed angry enough to the point she wasn’t answering Siwon’s calls for almost two weeks. “I asked him earlier, but he said he got an appointment with someone.” “Oh?” Tiffany muttered. She called the waiter and ordered. After the waiter’s gone, Siwon was about to open his mouth when Tiffany’s phone rang. “Halo?” Siwon saw clearly that Tiffany’s expression changed. She smiled. Brightly. “Where are you?” the girl asked cheerfully. “Restaurant?...Me? I’m having my lunch at Yeondoo Ahjumma’s restaurant with Siwon Oppa.” Siwon looked at Tiffany curiously. Tiffany mentioned his name which means the person she talked with also knew him. “Yes, I know you’re meeting someone. Oppa told me.” Siwon winced. What did she say? “Yes, I’ll be waiting for your story...I’ll see you soon.” After the call ended, Siwon couldn’t bear to ask, “Who’s calling?” “Rudy,” Tiffany answered purily. “Rudy? Which Rudy? Rudy Lee?” Siwon could barely believe what he heard. “How could he call you casually? Fine, I did give her your number but that’s because he got something to ask you.” Tiffany blinked her eyes, then mumbled, “Ah, right. You don’t know yet.” “What?” Tiffany smiled widely. “We met several times actually. You’re right, Oppa. He’s such a lovely person.” Siwon gaped. “What?” Tiffany then told him everything about her encounters with Rudy. Then she asked. “Doesn’t Rudy tell you?” “No,” Siwon scratched the back of his head. Still amazed with the story. “YG is so hectic nowadays. We’re so busy and we don’t work on the same floor, we didn’t see each other much,” He explained. “And if we did meet, we'd just talk about his condition and work. He’s working like a machine, and vanished right after work because of other businesses.” “Oh,” Tiffany nodded along. She didn’t know Rudy was busy. The waiter came bringing their order. Cut off their conversation. “Aren’t you angry at me?” Siwon wondered. “Angry?” “You know, that day when I left you at lunch.” “Oh...that,” Tiffany murmured. She seemed to remember and hissed quietly. “When you left me for your ahjumma girlfriend?” “Ahjumma? And no, she isn’t my girlfriend,” Siwon defended himself. “Whatever.” “So, you’re not upset? Not angry?” Siwon asked again. Tiffany cleaned her chopsticks while staring at Siwon. “Of course I was upset,” she said crossly. “Who wouldn’t be upset if her friend dumped her just like that when you knew I didn’t like to eat by myself and note this, you asked me for lunch in the first place. That’s why I ignored you all week,” she continued. Her tone softened. “But that night Rudy asked me for dinner at his place. He cooked roasted chicken and seaweed soup. It’s not really special but I like the mood. It’s nice. You should’ve come.” Siwon snorted in disbelief. What’s going on between these two people? Even though Tiffany didn’t confess explicitly, why did Siwon feel like the girl is into Rudy? Changwook stared at the huge door in front of him. He was in some office. Jung Tae Il’s office. Actually, he’s in front of his office right now. “Please come in, Mr. Lee,” the assistant let him in. Changwook nodded and stood up. He opened the door and froze on the spot when he saw a man probably in his fifties sitting on the big work chair. He greeted Changwook. The man was charismatic, tall, neat but he looked thin and lacked sleep. Changwook clenched his fist in his pocket unconsciously. “Please, have a seat,” the man allowed. Changwook sat himself on the comfy couch, facing the man. “So you’re Jung Tae Il?” Changwook opened the conversation. Straight to the point. “You got that right. I’m Jung Tae Il,” Jung Tae Il said softly. “Now tell me about yourself. What brings you here?” Changwook sighed. He held himself as hard as he could. “I...You know Ji Eunhee. I’m his son. My name is Rudy Lee.” “Rudy...Lee?” “Yes. I just want to tell you, my mother passed away,” Changwook continued. “I told you because, well...I know you’re close with her at some point.” Jung Tae Il looked at Changwook with an unexplained gaze. But he changed his expression soon after. “I also came to meet Soojung and take her with me.” They’re silenced for a while. They seemed busy with their own minds. Suddenly Jung Tae Il covered his face. “I’m sorry,” He said slowly. Changwook looked at him confusingly, “What do you mean?” “I...I know. I know Ji Eunhee passed away eleven years ago. I know you’re looking for Soojung. And I even know your name isn’t Rudy Lee,” the older man put his hands on his nose and said raspily. “You’re Changwook. Jung Changwook.” Changwook was shocked and stood up in reflex. He shook his head. Hard. “My name is Rudy Lee. There is no Jung bleed in me. Not even a drop!” “Changwook-ah,” Jung Tae Il stood up. Followed Changwook. “My son.” Changwook took three steps back. He could feel his throat choke. “Don’t you dare...Don’t you dare to say that you are my father. Just don’t!” “Changwook-ah, I know everything. I know you left right after your mother died, I know you lived with Lee Sungmin all this time. I know all of it. Lee Sungmin is my best friend and also your mothe
