“It’s strange,” Tiffany muttered staring at her phone.
“Why?” Sooyoung asked as she chewing potato chips she just bought.
Tiffany bit her lip. “His phone is inactive.”
Sooyoung winced. “Who?”
“Rudy.”
Sooyoung stopped chewing for a sec then took a handful of chips again. “Maybe he’s got something important to do.”
Tiffany pouted. “It could be. He always said this quarter is his busiest period. He got a pretty huge project.”
“You’ve always been thinking negatively, Fanny. It’s not healthy.” Sooyoung uttered.
“But, you know,” Tiffany paused.
“What?”
“You’ve always said I was overthinking but I really felt that Rudy changed.”
“Ah, I ran out of chips!” Sooyoung grumbled and threw the pack to the garbage. “What do you mean, he’s changed?”
“Hmmm, he talked less,” Tiffany wondered. “He often daydreamed. Its like he’s depressed and having a big problem, but every time I asked he always dodged my question and instead telling me that he’s just tired.”
“When did you begin to realize that he’s different?”
“He’s still his usual self when I took him to Hyoyeon’s party,” Tiffany answered.
“Ah, when you introduced him to your father?” Sooyoung said. Tiffany nodded. “Maybe he’s os nervous meeting with your father, and work his off to marry you immediately.”
“Ish, don’t joke right now!” Tiffany hissed as she playfully hitting the laughing Sooyoung. “But speaking of my father, he also became weird.”
“What about him?”
“He asked around, about Rudy.”
“What’s so weird about that?”
“He’s not the type of father who asked about my friends,” Tiffany stopped for a moment. “Then he suddenly asked if I liked Rudy.”
“Your father might aware of your feelings toward Rudy, and it’s possible that he became protective,” Sooyoung her fingers. “What did you say to him?”
“I told him the truth, that I like Rudy,” Tiffany tilted her head. “And he’s somehow uneasy. It’s like he wasn’t content of me liking Rudy, or rather worried.”
“I told you he just paranoid you’d forget him after having a boyfriend,” Sooyoung gulped. “What did they put in these chips really? It tasted like a little piece of heaven. I want to go downstairs to get some more, you coming Tiffany?”
Tiffany shook her head then rose up. “I have to ask my father tonight, if he’s having something in mind, he should tell me what he thinks.”
Tiffany arrived at her father’s office exactly at 9 p.m. She came a little late because she had to speed up the work she must finish tomorrow. After greet the security officer, she got straight in the elevator. The secretary office was already empty because it’s way beyond work hours, while she knew that her father was still overtime.
