For a few thrilling seconds, they were stared each other, only stared. Both Changwook and Hwang Jungmin were too shocked and confused to say a word. Unconsciously Changwook mumbled lowly, “Appa…” “You already knew each other before?” Changwook startled hearing to Tiffany’s voice. He turned to that girl who looked at his father and Changwook in turns. She’s curious, but she’s not suspicious at all. His father just wanted to open his mouth, but Changwook interfered, “No, we haven’t met yet before.” Changwook looked at his father, asking that man to follow what he said. He almost begged with his eyes so that his father didn’t say a word. “I heard your father is…a, one of an executive director in COEN Corporation,” Changwook hardly lied. His tongue felt heavy, and his voice also kind of hoarse. Tiffany lifted her eyebrows. “How could you know?” Then she smiled to his father. “I have no idea that my father was that popular.” Tiffany wasn’t aware at all of the tension created between Changwook and Hwang Jungmin. She was still smiled cheerfully. “Papa, Papa already knew Siwon Oppa, Jessica and Taeyeon, right?” Tiffany pointed at her friends one by one. “This is Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Yoona. And this is Rudy Lee,” Tiffany freed herself from her father’s embrace and held Changwook’s arm. “He’s one of marketing communication associate from United States. He’s collaborating with YG in a try out. And you have to know, even though he’s been abroad for so long, his Korean is fluent.” “He’s one great associate and he stands out in his work, Abonim,” Siwon added. “No wonder Miyoung likes him.” Changwook noticed as Siwon said that, the face of Tiffany’s father was getting pale. “Shut up, oppa,” Tiffany fretted. Her face reddened. “You already drunk,” She cleared and continued the introduction. “Rudy, this is my father, Hwang Jung Min.” Changwook stretched out his arm that felt heavy all of sudden. Hwang Jungmin reached his hand, the man’s hand felt cold. Or was it his hand? “Nice to meet you, Sajangnim,” Changwook muttered as he bowed. “Are you Youngie, eh, Tiffany’s friend?” the man asked. He’s nervous. Changwook didn’t answer. He didn’t know what to say. “Abonim, please join us,” Taeyeon offered. Somehow, Hwang Jungmin managed a friendly yet rigid smile and shook his head. “No need. You boys and girls have fun. I have to go back to my colleague right away,” He glanced at Changwook and turned to Hyoyeon and patted her arm. “Happy birthday, Hyoyeon.” “Ah, thank you, Sajangnim,” Hyoyeon bowed respectfully. “I just remembered. Michelle said, there’s something you want to talk about with me,” Tiffany reminded. “She said it’s important.” Changwook’s body strained. He could guess what Hwang Jungmin wanted to talk about with Tiffany. It must be about his long lost son that he just met, about Changwook. He held his breath waiting for Hwang Jungmin’s answer. “It’s okay, Youngie,” his father answered. “It’s not too urgent anyway. We can talk about it next time.” Tiffany winced. “But…” Right at that time Taeyeon said she wanted to get a drink again. Changwook took the chance to go along with Taeyeon. Actually he wasn’t too thirsty, but he felt he needed to get out of there for a while. So he could breathe normally again. “Can you come with me for a minute, Youngie?” Without waiting for her answer, Hwang Jungmin turned and walked away. Tiffany followed with a questionable expression on her face. What did her father want to talk about? Why did he look so serious? Tiffany followed her father outside the restaurant. The wind blew quite strongly and Tiffany had to tighten her scarf on her neck. “What is it Papa?” Tiffany asked curiously. Why did her father look tired out of nowhere? “Papa, are you sick?” Her father shook his head and asked. “How long you’ve known him?” “Who? Rudy?” Tiffany asked. Her father nodded impatiently. “Yes, Rudy.” Why is it? Why did her father ask such question? It seemed like her father wanted to know more about Rudy. Was it too obvious that Tiffany liked him? She was wondering because the question usually asked by parents when they found out their child liked someone. However Tiffany had nothing to hide from her father. “Not too long. Siwon oppa introduced him to me because they worked at the same company,” Tiffany smiled. “What do you think, Papa?” Her father looked kind of jittery. “I don’t know. I just met him. Why are you asking that suddenly?” Tiffany only smiled. Honestly she hoped her father would think well about Changwook. Changwook was a good man, and he didn’t give a bad impression to her father earlier. “Youngie,” her father called hesitantly. “Do you like him?” Tiffany looked at her father and cogitated. Did her father read her mind? Could she tell him now? “Yes,” Tiffany answered at last. She never lied to her father and she thought it didn’t harm anyone to tell her father about what she felt about Changwook. Tiffany was prepared to face all the questions her father might ask, but it’s weird, instead of questioning, her father was froze listening to her answer. His expression became anxious and uneasy. “Papa, what’s wrong?” Tiffany asked when her father stayed still. Why didn’t her father ask anything? She just confessed that she liked a guy and as a parent it’s normal for her father to ask things. “It’s nothing,” her father mumbled. Tiffany tried to guess what did her father think about that cause him to act that way, but she couldn’t come up with anything in mind. “We are, Rudy and I just started to get to know each other,” she tried to explain. “But I feel like he is a kind and pleasant person. He’s also responsible in his job. He’s kind of guy that can easily become ahjummas’ idol and be a top list to marry their daughter.” Tiffany didn’t feel what she say was wrong, but her father gasped shockingly as the words came out of . “Do you want to marry him?” her father asked frantically which Tiffany didn’t understand. Tiffany shook her head. “No,” her father was acting so weird today. “I do like him but it would be reckless to think about marriage. What makes you thinking that, Papa?” “No, I was just ensuring,” her father answered immediately. Tiffany saw her father took a relieve breath which made her even more confused. “Papa!” Soojung just came out of restaurant. “I’ve been looking for you. Unnie? You’re here too? Didn’t you have an appointment?” Soojung looked at her father and Tiffany in turns and noticed the strange atmosphere between them. “You should go back with your friends Youngie, I have to talk with Krystal for a moment.” “Me?” Soojung pointed at her own nose and before she knew, she was dragged along with her father leaving the wondering Tiffany. It’s so outlandish the way her father looked uneasy like that. Did her father worry she will marry Changwook one day? Changwook couldn’t sleep at all. He just stood at the balcony and watched Seoul’s city lights. It’s already 03.00 a.m. and he wasn’t sleepy at all. When he went home from Doors three hours ago, he tried hard to sleep because he was fatigued. But after one full hour trying to fall asleep and didn’t doze off a little bit, he gave up and got up the bed. There must be some kind of mistake. It’s impossible for him and Tiffany having the same father. It must be a mistake. Changwook inhaled heavily then exhaled slowly. His chest was hurt. It’s painful to even breathe. Why did it have to be Hwang Jungmin? Why Tiffany called him her father? It’s possible that Tiffany wasn’t
