Description

If Jongin is the Queen of Hearts, then Kyungsoo is Alice.

Foreword

"Young Master, it is time for your lessons." Kyungsoo sighed as he placed his book aside to meet the eyes of the family butler. He was a middle aged gentleman by the name of Leeteuk, and had been around since Kyungsoo was a small boy.

"I think I'll skip them today, Leeteuk... I'd like to have some time alone for today, if you will." A flash of sympathy flitted across the servant's kind face before disappearing.

"I understand, I shall inform the tutor his services are not needed today." Leeteuk nodded. "Anything else, sir?"

"No, Leeteuk, I shall just be going for a stroll through the gardens." Kyungsoo offered a small heartshaped smile.

"Very well, be careful. There is a wedding party later this evening to celebrate your... engagement to Lady Soojung." Leeteuk reminded Kyungsoo before disapearing down the halls to check on either one of Kyungsoo's brothers, Luhan or Tao.

It didn't take long for Kyungsoo to wonder deep into his mother's lovely gardens. It had been two years since they had been properly cared for, left to nature's control since his poor mother's death. He had loved her dearly and had completely shut out his father and brothers after she had passed. Being the middle son, he was overlooked anyways. That is until his eldest brother Luhan married two months ago, and Tao was almost of age to be married as well.

As Kyungsoo rounded a corner, heading into the tree grove that lead to his mother's grotto, he happened upon a bush of pure, pristine roses. His mother had adored white roses, often taking her three young sons to prune them in the early mornings or late evenings. It was wild and overgrown with thorns, but its flowers were large and in full bloom. As Kyungsoo leaned in to smell the beautiful flower when his eye caught sight of crimson petals hidden deep within the bush, guarded by bristling thorns.

"What the...?" Kyungsoo muttered in mild irritation at the thought of the red rose invading the pure white flowers' habitat. He reached in with habitual practice past the sharp thorns and gently tugging the rose vine out from the heart of the bush to get a better angle as he flicked his gilded and jewel encrusted blade out of its leather sheath that hung at his waist. He cut the stem at seven inches and straightened up to study the flower. It was starting to unfold its petals.

He shook his head as he strolled on down the overgrown footpath, taking note silently that the trees had stretched their limbs out and were entertwined, blocking out the morning sky. The path was set in a earie twilight setting.

Kyungsoo sighed in relief as he stepped foot in the small grove of elms and oaks. In the middle, though, stood an old weeping willow. Memories from the steward's son's childhood seeped into his mind of daily picnics and midday naps after tea and one of Mother's fairytales. He could hear the haunting laughter of his brothers and him, watched them run around playing tag while his mother coddled Kyungsoo in her lap. But, the bittersweet memories faded to reveal the hideous reality as he knealed at his loving mother's grave stone. He brushed away the vines that had covered the epitaph dedicated to her.

"Oh Mother, how everything would be different if you were here to speak some logic to them. I would be happily sitting in my study, or maybe out here with you, and the garden would be flourishing beautifully... Luhan would have told father he was... queer. Tao would tell him that he was seeing a Wu. Father would smile again." He sat and waited for a response he knew that wouldn't come. He sighed and leaned back against the roots of the willow. "I miss you, Mother. So very much."

"Oh dear! I'm going to be late! Oh dear, how could I forget?" Kyungsoo jolted awake in time too see a lean man in black slacks and a silk red vest with a plumed white neck collar snap his pocket watch and hurry past him around the willow tree.

"Sir?" Kyungsoo stared at the top of the man's head. There sat, undeniably, two white rabbit ears.

"Oh, I'm going to be so very very late, this won't do at all!" The man's sweet voice continued the float from his pouty lips as he suddenly dove into a fox hole amongst the roots of the willow tree on the other side of the tree from where Kyungsoo lay.

"Sir!" he bolted up, scrambling to the edge of the hole to stare in disbelief. The bunny man had disappeared in a matter of seconds. There, settled in the grass by the hole's edge, lay the man's gilded pocketwatch. "Sir! You dropped you watch." Kyungsoo called out as he picked it up. He gazed into the hole, expecting the man to pop out, it was only a foxhole. A rather large one at that.

Kyungsoo leaned foreward to try and see the strange bunny man when he found himself freefalling into the hole. He cried out in shock as he found himself falling in the midst of random household objects.

If you asked him where he was falling too, he would say he had no idea. If you asked him if he was going to survive a fall like this, he'd laugh in your face.

'On the bright side, I get to see mother, and not get married to that accurssed Soojung.' He thought to himself as he faced the impending darkness below him, awaiting for a quick death, hopefully.

"Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!" Kyungsoo finally screamed in frustration as his impending doom seemed to be impending too long. Within the past hour, as the little pocketwatch in his hand had told him, he had taken a seat in a rocking chair, read three small novels, and even had a cup of lukewarm tea (which had pleased him as much as it surprised him to see a complete tea set ready to be used). "I don't understand this confounded black hole!" he pouted. Was his doom to be falling for the rest of his life? The peculiar thought bemused Kyungsoo very much.

But, it seemed Kyugnsoo didn't have to wait as long as he had began to believe. with a dull thud, the young man landed on his feet, losing his balance, and stumbled out of the odd fox hole into a smokey clearing. As he bagan to lose his footing, all Kyungsoo could think about was 'I wish I had had that second cup after all' before being knocked unconscious.

Chapter 8: This reminds me so much of an EXO version of Alice in Wonderland fanfic my best friend used to write and show me privately. Alas she never finished it, and I'm so glad to have found yours instead so I could continue with Kyungsoo in Wonderland instead :)
All the characters are hilarious and I definitely had a lot of fun guessing which EXO members are playing which characters!
