The Day I Confessed to You

The Day I Met You

Hyjeong slowly blinked open her eyes, only to squeeze them shut again as sunlight hit them. "Oww," she moaned, turning over. She

threw her arm over also to feel her hand landing on...something soft and round. Her eyes flew open, and she saw her hand cupped

around Seolhyun's . "What the," she rolled over as fast as she could away and then with a loud thump, fell off the bed.

"Hyejeong unnie? Hyejeong unnie! Are you okay?" Seolhyun's voice came from above. Hyejeong groaned clutching her head.

Seolhyun's face appeared just over her and Hyejeong felt her cheeks start to burn.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," she said quickly, scrambling up. Seolhyun now stared up at her, confusion on her face. "I'll go make breakfast. Just-

just wear anything in my dresser," she stuttered and walked out. Not long after, she heard the sound of the shower turn on, and she gave

sigh of relief. As she walked to the kitchen she thought of something. Seolhyun couldn't just keep wearing her clothes, could she? And

it was a Sunday... Hyejeong knew what they were going to do today. After Hyejeong had finished making their breakfast, pancakes and

bacon, and Seolhyun had finished showering, Hyejeong watched Seolhyun eat. "Seolhyun, let's go to the mall today," she said. Seolhyun

looked up at her, chubby cheeks full of pancakes and bacon. She chewed as fast as she could and swallowed.

"Why?" the younger girl asked, am interested look on her face.

"Because you don't have any clothes, dummy," Hyejeong said, allowing a smile to appear on her face.

"But-but I don't have money...," Seolhyun trailed off, looking embarassed.

"That's not a problem. Money's definitely not one of the problems I have in my life," Hyejeong said, her face slightly darkening. But

then she forced herself to lighten up and smiled at Seolhyun. "So, what do you say? Wanna go?"

"But, I'm already bothering you enough Hyejeong unnie. I don't want to become a nuisance to you."

"What are you talking about? I'm really glad you're here. It's nice to have someone else beside me. And I just told you. Money is

definitely not one of my problems," Hyejeong said. She scooted her chair back, got up, and returned with a large, bulging envelope. She

put it down in front of Seolhyun and sat down. "Do you see this? This is what I get every month." Hyejeong opened it, put her hand in,

and pulled out a large bundle of one hundred dollar bills. "That good for nothing father of mine sends me about $12,000 a month. I have

no idea what he works as, but he's filthy rich," she said, bitterness in her voice. Seolhyun's eyes had grown wide, staring at the large

bundle of money in Hyejeong's hand. "So, you know what? We're going whether you like it or not," she finished, smiling. The two of them

finished eating and Hyejeong got ready. She put on skinny jeans, a t-shirt, and a cardigan over it. "Now, let's go!"

"When they finally got into the mall Hyejeong turned to Seolhyun. "Alright, today, anything in this mall is yours. Get as many things as

you like," she said, flourishing her hands. "I have over twenty-four thousand and counting to spend, so go ahead," she said. Then

Hyejeong glared at her. "And don't give me some stupid stuff about feeling bad. I'm doing this because I want to," she said. Suddenly,

Seolhyun's eyes started to tear up and a tear dripped down her cheek. Hyejeng's eyes widened and guilt washed over her. "H-hey, I

didn't mean it like that. Don't-don't cry," Hyejeong stuttered. Suddenly, Seolhyun stepped forward and hugged her.

"Thank you unnie. I'm really glad I met you. I don't know what I would've done without you. Thank you unnie," Seolhyun said, her tears

wetting Hyejeong's cardigan. Hyejeong had been standing there, frozen, but she softened and patted Seolhyun's back.

"Of course. No need to thank me. Now let's go, there's a lot of things to do today!" Hyejeong said, pulling Seolhyun away from her and

wiping off her tears. Seolhyun smiled and Hyejeong felt her heart flutter. The two of them visited countless malls, buying Seolhyun many

clothes. Seolhyun always tried to pick the cheapest ones, but Hyejeong stopped her, ending up buying the most expensive ones in the

store. When they were finally finished, Seolhyun was wearing a white sweater that showed her shoulders and skinny jeans, along with

boots. Hyejeong's clothes that she had borrowed were in one of the many bags. "Hey, aren't you hungry?" Hyejeong asked, a smile on

her face. She realized that this was the first time in a while that she had smiled this much. "What do you want to eat?"

"Uhm...anything you want to eat unnie!" Seolhyun said, also smiling at Hyejeong. Seolhyun's clothes fit her very well, and Hyejeong

was reminded again of how pretty the young girl was.

"Hmm let's eat...hamburgers!" Hyejeong exclaimed, her eyes lighting on the fast food restaurant just outside of the mall.

"Yeah!" Seolhyun said, excitedly. Suddenly, she grabbed Hyejeong's hand and ran towards the restaurant. Hyejeong followed after

her, well, got dragged after her. The girl laughed as she looked behind her at Hyejeong. Hyejeong, out of the corner of her eye, saw an

oncoming bike. She pulled Seolhyun's hand towards her just in time as the bicyclist whooshed past them. Seolhyun was pressed against

her chest, looking up at Hyejeong in surprise. Hyejeong let go of Seolhyun and glared at her.

"What were you thinking Seolhyun? You could've gotten hit!" Hyejeong yelled at the frightened younger girl. "Don't do that again! At

least watch where you're going! Okay?" her last word was soft and Seolhyun nodded, fearfully. Hyejeong sighed and then grabbed hold

of the others hand this time. "Let's go, yeah?" she said, sending a warm smile at the younger girl. Seolhyun smiled slightly and the two

made it into the restaraunt. After they ordered their food and ate, it was pretty late and they walked outside. The mall was actually the one

right next to a park. "Hey, want to go to the park?" Hyejeong asked the smaller girl.

"Sure!" Seolhyun said. They made their way to the park and sat on the swings. "Thank you for everything unnie. You helped me a lot,

and I had the most fun in my life today," Seolhyun said, looking over at Hyejeong with a heart melting gaze. Hyejeong's heart raced and

suddenly, she heard a loud crack and a bright burst of light illuminated Seolhyun's face. The two looked up to see fireworks.

"Woah! They're so pretty!" Seolhyun stood up, laughing. Hyejeong looked at the smaller girl who was smiling and watching the

fireworks. Hyejeong felt an odd sensation build up in her chest and she slowly stood up and walked over to the younger girl.

"Seolhyun," she said quietly. The younger girl looked over at the older with excitement in her eyes and was met with a pair of lips on

her own. Hyejeong put both her hands on Seolhyun's small shoulders. She never wanted this to stop. Then, she broke the kiss and

looked deep into Seolhyun's wide eyes.

"Seolhyun, I love you. Will you go out with me?"
