The Day I Missed You
The Day I Met You
Beep beep. Hyejeong slowly opened her eyes and turned over, . She was still groggy and she reached over to her bedside
table blindly for her annoying phone. Sliding her hand around the table, she finally managed to grab it and she brought it up to her face.
5:30 a.m. Why the hell was her phone waking her up at 5:30 in the morning? Then, she shot up from her bed. The project. She quickly
got ready, taking a quick shower, and cursing the entire time. By the time it was 6:00 she was out the door, running with her hood up. It
was a cold December morning and it was raining as she ran full speed up the street towards the school.
Hyejeong groaned as she brought her head down onto her arms. The project was only half done and she was dead tired and wet. She
had changed into her P.E clothes as her other clothes were totally drenched from the rain. She looked outside. It was so dark from the
rain that it almost looked like night, but Hyejeong liked this sort of weather, she found it calming for some odd reason.
"Hyejeong-ah! You're early today!" Yu Na's voice resounded through the almost empty classroom. Hyejeong gave an angry sigh and
straightened up, looking at her friend. Yu Na froze, staring at Hyejeong with wide eyes. "Oh my gosh when was the last time you slept?"
she accused. Hyejeong did in fact, look like a mess. Dark circles hung under her puffy, sleep deprived eyes, and she just looked
exhausted in general.
"Had to wake up early for a project, came home late last night," she muttered, putting her head back on to her arms. Yu Na let the
matter go, and after a few minutes, the classroom started to fill up and the bell for first period rang.
"Wait a minute, where's Seolhyun?" she heard Yu Na say. Hyejeong shot up from her slumped position to find out that she was right.
Seolhyun wasn't here. Hyejeong felt worried, had the younger girl gotten sick? Was she hurt? It had been rather cold the past week. The
rest of the school day went by at a slow crawl for Hyejeong, and it was even worse since she had to stay at school for at least another
two hours to finish the damn project.
"Your guys's fault for procrastinating," Yu Na said, shrugging and smiling as she skipped out the door. After 3 torturous hours, the
project was finally finished, Hyejeong gave a sigh of relief and stretched in the school entrance. It wasn't raining too hard, but the rain
didn't seem like it would stop anytime soon. Hyejeong lifted up her hood and stepped out into the rain, shivering. It was already 7:00 and
it felt like she was in some kind of horror movie as she walked down the long sidewalk alone. She realized how lonely she felt since
Seolhyun wasn't beside her, chattering away at some random things. She missed her, she realized.
Hyejeong reached the area of the crosswalk to her apartment when she heard a loud crash and a cry of pain. Hyejeong whirled
around to where the noise had come from. It was from Seolhyun's house. And before Hyejeong could move one step, the door to
Seolhyun's house burst open and she saw the younger girl's figure stumble out into the rain. "Oh yeah? You're going to run from me?
Well don't ing come back you !" a man's voice yelled from inside of the house, and the door slammed shut. Hyejeong was frozen
in shock. And as she watched, Seolhyun stumbled a few more steps and fell, unmoving onto the ground.
"Seolhyun-ah!"
