The Day I Saved You
The Day I Met You
Hyejeong rushed towards Seolhyun's small figure on the ground, once reaching her, she fell to her knees. "Seolhyun, Seolhyun,
please, please be okay," she muttered frantically. Carefully, Hyejeong turned the girl over to see her face, and she gasped. One side of
Seolhyun's face was streaked with blood, hair stuck onto her face from the water, her eyebrows were knitted together in obvious pain,
and she was breathing heavily, coughing weakily once or twice. Without a second thought, Hyejeong gathered up the injured girl in her
arms and ran towards her apartment, carrying her bridal style. Luckily, her room was on the first floor, and Hyejeong gently put
Seolhyun's legs down, supporting her weight with her own body and arm as she punched in the code for her room. Once it opened, she
picked the younger girl back up and pushed the door open roughly, slamming it shut behind her. She flicked on the light switch with her
elbow and walked into her room. She did have a guest room, but at the state Seolhyun was in right now, she needed the girl to be in a
place where she could easily care for her.
Hyejeong pulled back the covers of the bed as best she could with Seolhyun in her arms and gently placed the girl down. She started
to pull away when suddenly, the girl shifted and clenched the front of Hyejeong's shirt with her hand. "Help me, save me....Hyejeong," the
girl whispered. Hyejeong looked down at the girl with startled eyes to see tears rolling down her pale cheeks, her face scrunched up in
pain. Hyejeong carefully pried the younger girl's hand off of her and quickly went to get the necessities for her. She quickly went to the
bathroom, opening the cabinet to find rolls of bandages and gauze, along with medicine and towels. She went to the kitchen, grabbing a
bowl and filling it with warm water and dumping the towels into it.
The whole time as she worked to get the necessities for Seolhyun, she felt rage boiling up inside of her. How dare that man, whoever
he was to Seolhyun, do that to her? How dare he hurt her Seolhyun? Wait, her Seolhyun? Hyejeong shook her head, trying to clear any
unnecessary thoughts from her head. With all the things gathered up in her arms, Hyejeong rushed back to her room. Seolhyun was still
unconscious, but she had moved to curl up on her side, shivering. Seolhyun was wearing another sweater again. What was up with her
and sweaters?
Hyejeong pushed that question away from her mind too, and whisked off anything that had been on her bedside table and replaced
them with her 'first aid kit' for Seolhyun. She had the first clear sight of the injured girl. She had a split lip that welled up with blood, along
with the blood on the left side of her face. She realized that the blood had only been smeared and that it wasn't as much as she had
thought. She sighed in relief. Hyejeong couldn't inspect anything else yet as Seolhyun was fully clothed in a sweater and jeans. She
pulled out a towel from the bowl of warm water, squeezed out the excess water and started to wipe off the blood from Seolhyun's face.
As she did so she inspected her patient. Seolhyun was indeed very pretty, and very adorable, with her chipmunk like cheeks, adorable
puppy eyes, and breathtaking smile. And Hyejeong...loved her. She shook her head, smiling, it was no wonder that she had fallen for this
girl, but she was sure that the younger had no intentions of liking her, forget loving her. To Seolhyun, she was probably just a cold-
hearted older classmate, and that hurt her, only slightly though, as she refused to let that thought get to her.
Hyejeong found that she was done cleaning up the girl's wounds on her face and head, and she put some rubbing alcohol on the cuts,
flinching every now and then, forgetting that the other was unconscious. Hyejeong gently wrapped up the girl's head and was about to
pull off Seolhyun's sweater when she froze. Her eyes widened and she immediately let go, feeling heat rise up in her cheeks. She
mentally berated herself. Seolhyun was just another girl, her friend, why was she acting this way? Her reaction only made her seem like a
ert. Shaking her head and slapping herself, she gently pulled up Seolhyun's sweater. It was hard work, getting the oversized thing off
of her without pulling off the bandage along with it, but she managed somehow and folded it up, putting it away to the side. Then, she let
herself look, and immediately felt surprise and anger come rushing into her system.
What she saw was Seolhyun's arms. And they were absolutely covered in bruises. Purple, blue, green, and yellow bruises presented
themselves to her. Hyejeong's hands clenched into fists, shaking with anger. But she couldn't let herself get out of control now so she
contained it as best as she could, taking deep breathes and closing her eyes. When she opened them again she felt sadness overwhelm
her. Why did Seolhyun, the bright, innocent girl, have to go through this kind of pain? And why? Why didn't she tell anyone? Why did she
hide her pain? Hyejeong pushed down her building emotions and got up, walking to the freezer to get ice for the girl's bruises, along with
a few cooling patches.
Hyejeong leaned back on her arms on the floor beside her bed and sighed. She checked her phone. 3:45 a.m. She rubbed her eyes
sleepily. Two days of insufficient sleep was most likely bad for her, but she didn't care. This night, or morning now, had been worth it. She
slowly got up to a kneeling position and looked at Seolhyun's now peaceful face. She pulled up the covers to the younger girl's chin and
smiled. "Goodnight Seolhyun," she said. And then everything went blurry and then black.
