The Day I Told You My Secret

The Day I Met You

Hyejeong slowly opened her eyes, and saw the most beautiful sight she had ever seen before, Seolhyun looking down at her. "Good

afternoon Hyejeong unnie," Seolhyun said softly with a bright smile. Hyejeong felt her heart beat harder, and stared up at the younger

girl for a few seconds before shooting up off of her lap.

"Seolhyun...you're awake," Hyejeong said, relief flooding her eyes.

"Yes...thank you, for taking care of me," Seolhyun said shyly, looking away.

"Are you okay? Are you still hurting anywhere else?" Hyejeong asked, scanning the younger's body to search for any untreated

wounds.

"No, I'm fine, thanks to you unnie, I'm sorry for causing you trouble like this...," Seolhyun trailed off. Hyejeong looked out of the window

and realized how bright it was.

"Uhm...what time is it?" she asked, her brows furrowing.

"2:30," Seolhyun answered, a small smile creeping onto her lips.

"And what time did you wake up?"

Seolhyun was now smiling fully, a teasing look in her eyes. "9:00," she said, a giggle escaping her lips at the sight of the older girl's

face.

"What the - why didn't you wake me up?" Hyejeong almost yelled, thoughts of her snoring or making weird faces shooting through her

mind.

"Because you looked really peaceful...and cute," Seolhyun said in the most nonchalant way as she could possibly say those words.

Her effort was rewarded as Hyejeong turned a bright red and hurriedely faced away from Seolhyun.

The older of the two cleared and quickly got up off the bed. "Uh, uhm, you - you should wash up," she stuttered, walking

towards her bereau and pulling out a large t-shirt and shorts. "Here, wear these after you're done, I'm - I'm gonna go make food," she

said, and quickly walked out of the room. Hyejeong let out a breath. THis had been the first time that anyone had managed to make her

heart beat that fast. She calmed herself down and went into the kitchen to make, well, lunch? She collected all of the things she needed

for their meal, and heated the frying pan up. Eggs and toast would be good, right? As she was frying the eggs, she thought about what

she should do with Seolhyun. It wasn't a problem, really, no one else lived in her apartment, and who Hyejeong assumed was Seolhyun's

father obviously didn't want his daughter to come back.

Suddenly, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and a warm body press against her back, along with the scent of shampoo.

Hyejeong's heart skipped a beat. "Unnie, you're burning the eggs," Seolhyun's voice said beside her ear.

"H-huh?" Hyejeong looked down to see that the eggs really were burning and she quickly pulled the pan away from the stove. ","

she muttered, looking at the now black egg. Seolhyun had let go after she told Hyejeong about the news, and she giggled beside the

annoyed older girl.

"What were you thinking about that made you burn the eggs?" Seolhyun said, laughter obvious in her voice.

"Nothing!" Hyejeong growled. She turned to face the younger girl, and froze. Seolhyun was only in the oversized t-shirt that Hyejeong

had given her to wear. Long, pale legs bare to show off her perfect thighs. Although the younger was still covered in bruises, she still

looked very, very adorable. Hyejeong felt her face immediately heat up, and she dropped the pan with a clang and whirled around to face

the opposite direction. "Wh-why are you half ? W-where's your pants?" Hyejeong nearly yelled.

"They were too big on me, they kept falling down," Seolhyun explained, barely containing the smile that was threatening to show on

her face. Her motive hadn't been, atleast at first, to embarass Hyejeong, they really had been too big, but she was enjoying it now.

"There-there had to be some other pants in my dresser," Hyejeong stammered.

"I didn't want to be rude," Seolhyun said. Hyejeong slowly turned back again, feeling the heat from her face die down. She tried her

best to focus on the younger's face only, but even that proved to be hard for her to control, as her face threatened to burst into flames

again.

"F-fine, just go sit down, I'll bring the food to you," Hyejeong managed to say, while keeping her expression under control.

"Okay!" Seolhyun beamed, and she skipped over to the small dining table. After Hyejeong was finally done cooking her food, she

brought the two plates over to the waiting Seolhyun who was still half .

"Can't you put on some pants?" Hyejeong asked suggestively.

"But this is really comfortable," Seolhyun pouted. Oh gosh, she's too much to handle Hyejeong thought.

"Fine, forget it," Hyejeong mumbled. She sat down and began to eat. After a few seconds she heard Seolhyun digging in.

"Wow! This is really good! You're the best Hyejeongie-unnie!" Seolhyun exclaimed, mouth full of food. Hyejeong smiled.

"I have to be good at making food. How else am I supposed to live by myself?" Hyejeong said after swallowing.

"You live by yourself? Where's your parents?" Seolhyun asked innocently, eatiing her food. When she didn't hear an answer, she

looked up curiously to see Hyejeong's face darkened. "Oh, I'm-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked," Seolhyun stammered.

"No, no it's fine, you're going to be living here anyway, you should at least know about this," Hyejeong said, putting down her utensils.

Seolhyun felt a smile come on at how Hyejeong said she could live here. "My mom passed away when I was 12 years old," Hyejeong

began, her face softening at the thought of her mother. "She was the best mom there ever was. I loved her so much. But then..."

Hyejeong stopped for a second, struggling to gain control over herself. She took a deep breath and started again. "She got into a car

accident and died on impact, or that's what the doctors say. After that, my father," Hyejeong stopped again, this time feeling her voice

become bitter at the mention of him. Seolhyun was not smiling anymore, only looking at Hyejeong with sad eyes. "My father couldn't take

it anymore and he abandoned me. I just woke up one day and there was a note and a whole stack of money on the table. You know what

the freaking note said?!" Hyejeong yelled, unable to control her building emotions any longer. "It said, "Have a good life without me, I will

always think about you." He freaking wrote that!" Hyejeong yelled. Tears that she had been holding back came sliding down her cheeks.

"My father, the only person I had left to count on just abandoned me without even an explanation of where he was going. I don't even

know where he is now. I haven't seen him since then. But apparently he still remembers me because he sends a whole bunch of money

every month. He must be rich or something, with a new wife," Hyejeong finished, her voice scathing. Hyejeong looked up at Seolhyun

and immediately regretted her words. Tears were sliding down her cheeks. Hyejeong reached over and wiped off the younger girl's

tears. "I'm sorry you had to hear that, I just went overboard," Hyejeong said gently.

Seolhyun suddenly sat up and wiped of the tears that had been streaming down her cheeks. "No, thank you for telling me Hyejeong

unnie. I feel happy that you trusted me with that," Seolhyun said, smiling. "I guess it's my turn, right?" Seolhyun said, seeing the question

already forming on the brunette's mouth. Seolhyun took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and began. "My mom abandoned me and my

father when I was eleven. My father was surprised, heartbroken, but he worked hard for us. For the first two years, my father seemed

okay with it. He treated me kindly like before and we bonded and had a good relationship. But one day he came home late at night,

drunk." Seolhyun paused, her eyes widening from reliving the memory. "I was thirteen at the time, and I was up late, waiting for him,

watching t.v., when he came in. And then, he started beating me. I don't know why, I don't know what happened, but that was the start of

my living hell," Seolhyun finished.

Hyejeong stood up, went around the table, and hugged the smaller girl, enveloping her in her embrace. Then she spoke, in a rage

filled voice. "I swear Seolhyun. I swear that I'll never let that man touch you ever again," she stated. Although Seolhyun couldn't see,

Hyejeong's eyes burned with rage. "I will protect you no matter what."
