Shining Brighter Than The Sun (pt. 2)
Let's Talk About Loveドライブ

“Does it taste good?” Takuya blinked.
They walked down the sand-covered pavement that lead them back to the beach, after getting ice-creams from the ice-cream parlour. Jaejoon’s face looked exceptionally bitter as it started to dawn upon him this was what Takuya had in mind when he said “follow me”. Secretly, he’d hoped there’d happen something more exciting, like, maybe, a hot make-out session behind the sand dunes.
“Ah, yeah, it’s nice,” He replied absentmindedly, eyes focused on his feet. A slight frown appeared on Takuya’s face, not quite understanding the elder’s reaction.
They continued their walk in silence, unconsciously matching their footsteps. As though the world noticed their change in attitude, clouds moved their way up in front of the ball of warmth, darkening the scenery. The bright blue sky from just a while ago was replaced with a blanket of grey, leaving only a few blue dots left in just a few minutes.
Takuya’s cheery behaviour slowly drifted away, making place for gloominess. It was rare that the blonde’s depressed nature showed. Usually it happened when he was insecure about something, or when something terrible had found place, incomparable to this.
The younger had never expected for something to happen between the two of them, but of course he had always been paranoid. It was part of his personality. Something you wouldn’t expect.
It was when his ice-cream started to melt, dripping over his hand, that the other noticed.
“Takuya, your ice-cream is mel- oh my god, baby, are you okay?!” His own ice-cream landed on the sand with a soft thud, hands already reaching for the younger’s wet stained cheeks, too busy with his crying boyfriend to care about the food. Jaejoon’s worried voice made the blonde look up, vision blurred by tears. The elder’s scrunched eyebrows caused an embarrassing feeling to bubble up in his stomach, and a pink colour dusted the apples of his cheeks.
“What’s wrong, hey, baby,” Jaejoon whispered. Toned arms pulled him closer, until he was flushed against the brunet, whose chest – which was still – felt warm, secure, like home.
No words were exchanged once again, and slowly the tears stopped falling. Thoughts had been racing through Takuya’s mind the entire time, mostly sad thoughts, scary assumptions about their relationship, but when Jaejoon slightly shifted, he couldn’t help but giggle, surprising the other once again with the sudden change of moods.
“Seriously, what’s up with you?” The elder leaned back, looking at the still giggling blonde, who was wiping the dried tears away.
“We forgot your t-shirt,” He managed to croak out between giggles, “Not that I had planned it, of course.”
Jaejoon looked astonished, not entirely knowing what to say. He waited till the former cooled down and took his hand, ice-cream completely forgotten (just like his shirt, dang it), walking up the sand dunes and leaving the crowded beach behind. Before he could ask about the situation, Takuya spoke.
“I’m just scared, Joonie. Scared that one day you’ll abandon me, that we’ll drift away from each other. I seriously can’t live without you, and you know that.” With one last from his ice-cream, he stood still and gently tugged on his boyfriend’s hand. “Your reaction from just now got me thinking a little, but you proved me I was wrong.”
A short silence followed, in which the clouds slowly cleared off again, leaving the sun at the top of the sky to shine directly onto the shore.
“I love you.”
And his long melted ice-cream joined Jaejoon’s one, though separated by a few meters, and arms circled themselves around the brunet’s neck. Sweet lips covered plump ones, the taste of strawberry immediately spreading itself in Jaejoon’s hot cavern when Takuya’s tongue entered. Hands moved their way up to steady themselves on the younger’s waist.
Of course Takuya knew Jaejoon expected more when he had asked him to follow him, but the disappointment that had been written on the elder’s face shocked him, and angsty emotions were formed. Those were long forgotten, though, and his mind had been completely emptied, the only thing he could focus on was that skilled muscle.
When they separated, both of their lips were swollen and red, and panting sounds filled the space between the two.
“Whenever you feel down, don’t hesitate and tell me, okay?” The brunet said. “Don’t you dare scare me like that again.”
Takuya’s lips stretched into a smile, as bright as usual. Jaejoon couldn’t help but do the same, the grin that he’d been fighting back was displayed on his face, radiating genuine feelings.
“And oh, I love you too.”
