HINO’S POV
“It’s definitely your fault!!!” I shouted at Hiro. We were heading home now. I hadn’t bought my favorite tuna because the moment we arrive at that certain store, it’s not yet close, yet the tuna was sold out.
“Fine. I’m sorry.” Hiro apologized. “But, we have beef here!” He raced the grocery bag as he grins up to his ears. He loves beef so much. He said if doomsday comes, he wants to die while eating beef. And that’s not so cool.
I sighed. “Whatever.”
“Okay, for you to get better, let’s reverse the result of our race. I’m now the adopted one. Is that fine?” He asked with beaming gestures.
Then I looked at our house from afar. I stopped from walking seeing a police car parking outside.
“Why are they here?” Hiro said.
We looked at each other and ran to the house.
Inside, we saw Aunt Michiko in the living room with two detective police.
“Hiro. Hino.” Aunt Michiko acknowledged us.
“What’s going on here?” Hiro asked as we head inside, joining them in the living room.
The detective, whom we already known as Hiragashi, looked at Aunt Michiko then to us. “As I was saying, we found something that might be a good help in knowing the real reason behind your parents’ death.”
“What do you mean?” I asked confused.
Hiragashi breathed deep before opening his mouth again. “They might have committed suicide.”
Our eyes bulged in shock as we hear the surprising conclusion of Hiragashi.
“That’s impossible.” Hiro disagreed. “Our parents are not the type to do that.” He added calmly yet worries trailed in his face.
“It’s right. It’s all an accident!” I frowned.
Hiragashi sighed and gestured something to another detective. The other detective hand him a sealed thing. “Here. We saw this inside your father’s pocket.” He showed it to us. It was a torn and crumpled paper which is partly burnt. “It’s a medical test result.”
I saw Hiro froze.
Hiragashi placed the paper in the center table. “The diagnosis says ‘Acute Leukemia dash Cancer of the Blood’.” He re
