Hiro to HinoHIRO’S POV
“What?” I Hino when I realized she is staring at me.
“I was just thinking...” she started and I rise my brows wanting her to continue. “...would you lose your hair?”
“Uh...” I touch my head. “I might.”
I also thought of that. You won’t see how important your hair is unless you lose them. I know it’s not just me who’s worried about losing my hair, Hino too. She might not show her concerns but I know she’s troubled about how I look as I continue the treatment.
“But it always depends on the kind and dose of the medication I receive. So far, it wasn’t harming my hair cells that much.” I laugh. “I do experience a little hair fall but I’ll stop chemotherapy for the meantime after this week so being bald is far more to happen.”
She nods. “Hmmm...I was just thinking if Shimazaki-san will still like you if you’re bald.”
I laugh. “You’re getting her in the topic again. And stop insisting that she likes me, I know you hate that.”
She frowned.
I smiled at her.
“Time for medication, Hiro-kun!” The nurse assigned to me suddenly talked from the door. She’s pushing a wheelchair close to me.
“Okay!” I beamed and went off from my bed and sit on the wheelchair.
HINO’S POV
He must be excited or what as he sit on the wheelchair. Now I realized he look thinner than usual. He smiles up at me. “I’ll be back.”
I nod.
For couple of minutes, I stayed at that small room waiting for Hiro to finish his medication. I saw my reflection in the window. My hair has been held down since mom died. I get rid of the ponytail I usually had because no one could do it for me. Hiro ponytailed me before and it looks ugly. I don’t want him to do it again.
Then there was rush on the door.
I immediately look at the direction and surprisingly see Daichi.
He was panting as his eyes scan the whole room. “Where’s Hiro?”
“The nurse took him.” I said.
Daichi laugh and went inside. “That sounds like he was being kidnapped.”
“You can come back if his medication is done.” I suggested.
“Oh, it’s fine!” He sits next to me. “I kinda like the idea of us being alone here.”
I rolled my eyes. “Don’t mess up with me, I’m gonna pound you.”
He chuckles. “That’s so like you. Don’t you miss me?”
“No.”
He wiped invisible tears in his eyes. “That’s straightforward.” Then he suddenly becomes serious. “How’s Hiro?”
“He’s doing good.” I paused. “It’s the last week of his treatment so he can go back to school next week.”
“That’s good news.” He said after a sigh. “I hope he fully recover soon.”
I become quiet for a moment. Yes, his treatment must be stopped for the mean time but that doesn’t mean he’s all recovered. The cancer can always come and go. And I don’t know how long will Hiro suffer from this darn illness!
I unconsciously clench my fist.
Daichi’s tone sounds stupid again. “When he recovers, I’m gonna set us both in a blind date with a bunch of college girls!”
“Hey!” I protested.
“Oh, you’re jealous? Didn’t you dump me already, Hino?” He pouts and that sure is annoying.
I gritted my teeth. “I wasn’t concern about you! You can have all the girls that you want but don’t
