[ 10: DREAM'S DICTIONARY ]

"Hyerin." Hyosung said, hardening her stare. It made her cringe that she had to, but the younger had been tight about an answer.

Hyerin noticed that change, however, and flatly replied, "No."

Hyosung barely made a voice before she heard a loud bang from the door. She stood up, and saw Hani approaching the kitchen, face hidden. While it may be hidden, Hyosung still felt her skin crawled at her sight.

She also noticed that Hani's gaze never left a spot; Hyerin. Hyosung frowned, and moved slightly to cover the latter. At that moment, Hani stopped right in front of the dark kitchen. She gently looked up to Hyosung.

"Hani? Where have you been?" Hyosung said.

"I... was taking a walk." Hani said. That pause didn't escape the eldest's sharpest ears; Hyosung frowned.

"That's very great for your health. Why don't you go take a rest? You must be tired." Hyosung internally winced. Hyperboles are definitely not on her dictionary.

"But can I get some cold water, please?" Hani said. Hyosung gently stepped back. She knew that Hani could get into Hyerin, and that's not a very good idea.

"I'll retrieve it for you later. Just go back to your room, alright?" Hyosung tried to tug her lips, but it felt so heavy, especially when the other's eyes may have looked normal, but the stare remained empty.

Empty, full of darkness.

But after that exchange, she did go.

Do Hyerin felt her legs would gave out, and she'd never felt her stomach knotted the way it is. Not ever since the birds left their nests, anyway.

She felt something off about the air around her, one that made her chest heavy. It heaves her breath, as much as she tried to inhale more air.

Hyerin, why are you here?

She found herself shivering even when Hyosung is there. She's never heard of the voice before, and much as she felt that it is hers, she never doubted.

You seemed too sure.

Hyosung's words passed like sand carvings at the shore, out as soon as  the water swept away. But now the water is sinister, not unlike the figure that had made eye contact with her. Her breathing went worse.

The figure—the mapper—had always been dark for her, but this time, black sand starts to move around the figure, circulating with no signs of an end. The voices seemed to have materialized out of her too.

No one believes you.

She coughed. It's a fact.

I wish she doesn't even exist.

So was that. Hyerin started hearing more voices in her head, but they got faster and faster, so rapid that it started resembling a scream.

It even sounded like two people screaming.

"Hyosung," Hyerin weakly grimaced. So much for asking an En for help. "hand."

Hyosung looked at the girl with disbelief. It's the first time she even talked that way, much less to her. The woman gently took the girl's shivering hand.

It felt cold, but the voices slowly vanished, leaving the sound of Iseul's clicking keyboards.

"Hyerin," Hyosung said. She tried to smile, hoping that the girl would change, but Hyerin buried her head deeper.

"I'm better." Hyerin said, harshly yanking her hand away. The thought of Hyosung being an En came back, and it made her angry. She's never thought an En would be helpful, but now her heart's racing and multiple thoughts crossed her mind; I didn't just ask for an En's help, did I?

"Oh." Hyosung said. She knew well that Hyerin's just a scared girl, and that she doesn't like people with abilities, and she's personally been told or briefed that these things would happen anyway...

But it still hurts when Hyerin did want her to be there.

"I'm going to get some water for Hani, do you want to stay here or join?" Hyosung said, trying to get rid of her own thoughts. Hyerin nodded.

Hyosung stood up, and got a glass of cold water. No words went between them, as Hyerin ended up looking away from Hyosung most of the time. Neither did she forgot about  Iseul's snacks.

When she came out of the kitchen, she gave the cakes to the hacker.

"Thank you." Iseul said, happily munching the cakes. When Hyerin came back, however, her expression turned sour, and she just stopped eating.

These things didn't go unnoticed by the oldest, and she asked, "Where did Hani go?"

"Upstairs."

"Did you noticed how she looked like?" Hyosung said, moving closer to the techie. She wondered whether Iseul ever realized anything about the other members, but she's not sure.

"Sad." Hyosung wanted to facepalm. She felt like a police detective in another unwanted case.

"Thank you, Iseul. Have some more sleep today, alright?" Iseul absently nodded, finishing her dessert.

Hyosung sighed, and turned to Hyerin, who stood near Hani's room.

"Are you sure you don't want to go back to your own room?" Hyerin shook her head.

Hyosung tightly gripped the drink. She didn't feel very optimistic on Hani meeting with the person she hated.

When Hyosung opened the door, she saw that Hani didn't move from her bed, but she could feel that the younger was aware of them. She carefully went closer to her bed, and placed her drink on a small table. No response.

Hyosung turned to the stand just across Hani's bed, and saw that her eyes momentarily shone. She turned to Hyerin, who tried to cover her wrist, but she could see a light glow.

"Hey." Hyosung turned, agape. Hani threw the covers from her bedsheets, and glowered. The figure remained the same, but the voice sounded different.

It sounded raspy, but also much higher than the usually feisty Hani.

Her eyes also glow dark purple.

Hyosung barely had the time to move when Hani jumped and choked Hyerin on the floor.

"Why do people like you have to be on this team?"

"Hani! Stop this! You're mad!" Hyosung said, desperately trying to pull Hyerin away. The latter started looking blue, and she even stopped struggling to get out of that grip.

"Really? Am I when you pick girls like this? You're the one who has a problem, Song Hyosung." Hani turned away from Hyerin, letting her loose, and turned her attention to Hyosung.

The psychologist went back, thinking hard on the situation, but nothing came to mind other than the fact that it's only the two of them in the room now. Then she realized; the drink. Hyosung immediately grabbed it, and threw cold water at her.

It made the mapper stop, reeling for a while, and Hyosung immediately reached for the door. But just moments before she could, a dark matter slammed the door, preventing Hyosung from escaping.

"Don't try to get out of this problem," Hyosung felt sick to the stomach, but she knew that she hid the now empty glass behind her, just in case she couldn't make it outside.

"If there is a problem to begin with." Hyosung said, frowning. The dark matter became black tentacles surrounding Hani, and one of them even covered the whole front door.

"There is!" Hyosung nearly lost her footing when some of those matter hit the ground hard.

"Then I am sorry!" Hani lunged forward, and Hyosung threw the glass at her, breaking it to shards right on her face.

"Ah!" Hani fell and the dark matter disappeared. It caused the door to break open, and a figure grabbed Hyosung away.

"Hurry!" she heard Hyerin's voice, but didn't bother to see anything when she reached out of the dormitory. She's very sure the strong grip that got her away was the youngest, however.

Just right outside the dorm, she's approached by six familiar figures, all in various degrees of concern.

"Hyosung? Are you alright?" Sejoon gently crouched near her. Hyosung felt dizzy, and she could sense the sharp pain of the glass shards gave her painful cuts.

But rest didn't exist in her dictionary either; right then, she heard a loud crash coming from their dorm.

It made her angry.

Really did.

"You're saying the cheater did kidnap me?"

"It does," the figure said. "but you can still be free."

"No, I'm chained and I'm pretty sure she sedate me. I can't run from her." she said.

"Well, I say you can be free, but you'll have to do certain things first." the figure chuckled, circling around her.

"No, I'm not doing it then." she said.

"Well, I'm pretty sure that those people wouldn't allow you to escape either. You just have to do one task, and you'd be free. Alright?"

She shook her head. But then she remembered. Her mother is still waiting, worrying for her even when they fought just a few days ago. Ever since they separated, her relationship went worse; but she knew she made a very stupid decision at that.

She missed her. She should have never listened to the boy's words.

"Yes."

"Very good. Now stand." The figure let go of its gloved hand. Without further doubt, she took it.

I want to meet my mom.

Her vision turned black.

When she woke up, she saw a young woman who sat alone in the corridor between two houses, and a retreating figure of a man in green jacket. The woman's eyes gave off blue light, which matched the glow of her palm.

Good. Now try to control that blue light in your palm.

Chapter 66: Oof I came back after taking a long hiatus for the sake of my mental health (aaand forgetting my password in the mean time :'D) as always, I love your updates and your writing is very special in a way, like it's not meant to be understood by everyone yet that's what keeps me going. (I'm Jisung's applicant, btw)

So sorry for the inactivity! I'm kinda interested in reapplying for the other team.

Chapter 66: It's cool to see all the boys interact with each other and Jisung is such a kid xD I love it. I also like the cool thing about his dad having similar powers!! That was really interesting to read about. I'm excited to see what this new evidence of the case brings and how the new team will affect the story :D
