Chapter 11
____________________________________________________________________________________________
The following day, Donghae prepared to leave. As he dragged his suitcase out of the elevator and into the lobby, the ski instructor noticed him. "Leaving already?" she asked. She watched him wheel it outside and put it into the trunk of his car. "Yah… weekend goes by so quickly. I have other places to go."
There was a sad smile on her face. "Yes, time does pass by quickly." He slammed the trunk door then grinned at her. "Well, it was really nice meeting you." Her cheeks turned pink and she seemed pleased. "Yep, me too." He went to go shake her hand but she asked, "Mind if I hug you?" She blushed even more. Nevertheless, he smiled a bright smile and opened his arms towards her.
They stepped closer and exchanged a warm hug. "I'm going to miss seeing you on the ski slopes." Donghae cracked a smile, still holding her because she was gripping so tightly onto him. "I will miss having you teach me." The foreigner broke away from him. "Well this is goodbye. I guess you have to go now. Better not keep you for too long."
She backed up. " We'll miss you. Come back to visit someday!"
Donghae got in. Goodbye... he thought, waving to her. He pulled out, the mini Cooper sliding neatly from the entrance and soon, the sky blue speck disappeared off into the distance.
A woman stepped out of the resort and joined the other standing outside. "Did he leave already? He forgot this." It was a Polaroid photo, the one with Donghae as a little kid, standing next to a big white cross in the mountains. He had a big grin on his face.
The younger of the two took it and smiled. Immediately, her sister nudged her on the shoulder. "You liked him, didn't you?" The younger blushed,"Ah well, as a friend." Her sister laughed,"He reminds you a lot of Michael doesn't he? Well, I have work to do concerning the hotel. I guess you'd better email him sometime. His information's still in the system."
With a knowing smile on her face, she left the other and went back inside. "Oh yeah, don't stay outside for too long Christy. It's still pretty cold this morning, despite the sun." She shielded her eyes with an arm as she glanced furtively at the sun. Then she left.
The girl looked back into the horizon, as if hoping to see the blue car again. Then she stared at the photo and smiled. Clutching it close in the folds of her thick wool sweater, she went back inside.
The mini Cooper was already long gone by the time Christy decided to take another look. The driver had struggled with his headphones then finally decided to turn on the radio. A familiar song played and Donghae found himself humming along.
