Baby
I've fallen  so why treat me like this?
Don't run away in fear
But why not try trusting me
My lady

The gang entered the room and instantly, all fell silent as if a terror teacher came in.
We strode inside, shoving
aside those who stood on our way, and went to sit at the very last row.
Our classmates nervously watched us in the corner of their eyes and we glared back at them with utmost contempt.

Later on, our adviser came in, with a late-comer trailing behind her.
As usual, we don't pay attention to
whatever she says. To my left, Minho was looking far away out of the window.
To my right, Onew was scratching at the desk, engraving his name on it.
To his other side, Jonghyun seemed to be playing a game from his cell phone.

Notorious rule-breakers and trouble-makers amongst the students, everyone avoided us.
The teachers couldn't kick us out because they never caught us on act and Leader Onew was good at hiding out mischiefs by threatening the witnesses.

I glanced down at my watch, waiting for breaktime. Onew noticed me and he leaned closer.

"Marked a target yet, Key?" he whispered.

Everyday, we take it in turns to bully a classmate and our favorites were those who never had the guts to fight
back or tell a teacher. It makes our day at school enjoyable.
Why do we do this? No reason in particular. We just want to.

"Him," I said, pointing at Taemin's back.

"We just had him yesterday," Minho mumbled.

"All the better," I replied.

"Why not ... her?" suggested Jonghyun, indicating a braided girl.

"Who is she?" I asked. I don't think I have seen her before.

"Does it even matter?" Onew said impatiently. "Now I stop and think about it, we've never bullied her before ...

Yes, that one, Key," he decided, closing the matter.

The bell rang and it was finally breaktime. One of our favorite time of the day.

As soon as Ms. Jung left the classroom, we closed in around the lucky girl of the day -- oops, scratch that -- poor
girl, I mean. The others were already lined up against the wall, too chicken to save her from doom.

But she seemed like she had no idea of what's about to happen to her. Ah, these kids ...
they don't learn easily from experience, do they?
She was oblivious to some girls' signal for her to move as she hid her notebooks inside her bag.

"Aish, this girl!" I prodded her hardly on the shoulder.

"Ow," she gasped, massaging the spot. Finally, she turned to look at me.

Butterfly
From the moment I met you
My eyes flashed, my head stopped
And a bell rand ring ding dong
Look, I may not be cool
Nice or anything like that
But I'm a pretty decent bad boy

"Can I help you with something?" she asked kindly.

I stared at her. She was new here, a transferee perhaps,
that's why I didn't recognize her earlier and she had no idea of our gang's mischief.
Suddenly, I remembered the person trailing behind our teacher this morning.
thought she was just a late-comer. Since we weren't paying attention in class, we didn't hear her introducing herself.

"Woohoo!" Onew whooped happily. "Aww~ She's too kind! You new here?" he asked haughtily.

She looked around, confused, realizing that she was the only one not standing up against the wall. "Y-yes. Why?"

"Nothing in particular. We just want to welcome you," Jonghyun said sarcastically.

"I don't think so ..." she said quietly.

"Our friend Key here wants to tell you something as a matter of fact. Go on, Key. Tell her,"
urged Minho, nudging me in the ribs.

You're like a butterfly
So weak, I've fallen
So gentle, I've fallen
I have to have you near me
Don't worry anymore, anymore
You only have to trust me
I'm really digging you
I can't let you go

I couldn't move. I was used to doing these kinds of stuffs but somehow, I couldn't do it now.
Not to this beautiful girl. Her eyes expressed nothing but pure innocence and although she looked as if she would never
fight back or even rush to tell a teacher, I wouldn't enjoy the pleasure of bullying her.
For the first time in living memory.

"Oi! Key! What's up with you?" Onew said impatiently, shaking me. He grabbed my hand, which was clutching a
bottle of glue, out of my will and tipped it over the open notebooks she hadn't kept yet. To make the matters
worse for her, Minho snapped it shut, sticking the pages of her notes together.

"You like our lovely welcome?" Jonghyun asked sardonically.
He, Minho and Onew laughed loudly as silent tears gushed down her rosy cheeks.

"Come on," Onew said in between guffaws and beckoned us out of the room.

I stood rooted to the spot. I wanted to apologize since I didn't actually want to do it in the first place.

"Go away! Leave Suhyeon alone!" Minhee cried angrily, pushing me away. She and her friends approached our
victim, trying to comfort her.

"Let's go, dude," Jonghyun said, pulling me along with them.

"Huh? Y-yeah -- Losers!"
I called out to the girls half-heartedly, trying to sound arrogant or Leader Onew would notice.

Baby
You stop my heart, oh crazy
So pretty, I can't stand it, oh crazy
I don't need anything else, crazy
Why am I like this?

That night, I lay in bed, unable to sleep. The image of the girl called Suhyeon silently weeping kept on flashing in
my mind's eye. Yes, she didn't troubled us by telling a teacher, but my conscience scratched at my heart.

"Why, Key?" I asked myself. "Why are you like this? What's up with that girl, anyway?
I've done this a thousand times before and for the first time, I am disturbed by what I did ...
Alright, she's pretty and too kind -- so what?!"
rolled to the other side facing the wall. "I don't even know her name ...
"Why the heck do I even want to know her
freaking name?! AISH! I think I'm going crazy!"

We gonna go rocka rocka

So fantastic
So elastic

For the following days, my eyes were always looking for Suhyeon, watching her, noticing her, seeing no one but
her. I was paying her more attention than I should.

"I think Key likes her," Minho said one day.

"Yeah," Jonghyun agreed. "I always see him looking at her."

"Shut up, you two," I snarled at them. "It's not true ..."

"Oh yeah?" Onew said. "I have an idea."

"What is it?" the two asked eagerly.

"If Key likes Suhyeon, then we'll target her even more. How's that?"
he replied, smiling nastily at me. The sight gave me goosebumps.

"Cool, Onew!" Jonghyun immediately approved. "For sure, she would like him too," he added ironically.

Suddenly, she passed by us. She looked at me fearfully and edged as far as she could in the narrow corridor.
I felt slightly ashamed, being with Onew's gang of wayward kids. I wished she wouldn't avoid me.
I'm not as bad as them, anyway.

Onew bullied Suhyeon even more and I tried to protect her as much as I could without being too obvious. I was
able to intercept as many of the group's plan to ruin her day as possible.

One time, she was walking, reading from a piece of paper,  along the aisle. Onew stuck his foot on her way so
she would trip. I caught her attention by clearing my throat loudly and looking down at the protruding foot. She
followed my gaze, saw it and was able to avoid it.

Another time, he spotted her inside the packed cafeteria. He crumpled a page from a book and aimed it at her.
"Hey, girl!" he called, finally throwing it across the room towards her. On purpose, I raised my hand in time,
apparently to scratch my head, and bumped it as hard as I can against his shoulder to ruin his aim. The
crumpled paper landed on the wall instead. She survived again due to my help.

"Go on with this, Key," he said, noticing me saving her from one of his evil plans. "Go on, and I'll kick you out of the
group. You know how mean I could be," he threatened.

For all I care, I thought.

I call you butterfly
As the days go by
The idea that I can't escape you
Gets driven in further
Choose me

Choose me
(Don't run away)
You have to take responsibility
For this fool that's fallen for you

Our group was still out in the corridors when we heard our classmates giggling inside the room.

"Suhyeon likes Taemin!" one of the shrieked.

"Taemin likes her too!" the other squealed.

"No -- I --" I heard Suhyeon denied.

"Don't deny, Suhyeon. I know you do. And I like you too." That was Taemin. More giggles.

Onew stepped inside, followed by Jonghyun, Minho and myself. As expected, they all fell silent.

"Well, well, well," Onew said, standing in front of the room. "What is going on?" he asked. "Are the rumors true?

"Taemin and Suhyeon are dating?"

Indeed, Taemin was beside Suhyeon. My hands silently twitched and curled into a fist.

"Y-yeah!" Taemin said defiantly, putting his arms around him. "So stay away from her!"

"Aww~ Too bad, Key. She's taken," Onew said, turning to me.

I struggled for something to say. "Losers together, then."

The three of them laughed. We all strode to our usual spot at the back.
I scowled at Taemin as I passed by him and he glared at me, equally angry.

Although I did say that, I was troubled deep inside.

Baby
You stop my heart, oh crazy
So pretty, I can't stand it, oh crazy
I don't need anything else, crazy
Why am I like this?

As soon as I got home that afternoon, I locked myself inside my room, full of anxiety.

"How could Suhyeon like you if you're in with Onew's gang? She would never like you, Key!"
I growled, pounding on my desk.

"Who would look at me beside that handsome and saintlike Taemin? I, who always help cause
trouble! I'm not good enough for her!"

I wiped away the angry tears cascading down my face. I tried to simply sleep it off, denying dinner and my
father's summons ...

It was midnight and my grumbling stomach woke me up.
Quietly, I creeped out of my room into the kitchen,
searching for something to eat. When I the light, my father materialized, sitting on the dinner table.

"I knew you'd come."

I run my fingers through my hair. "Yeah, well, I'm hungry," I said defensively.

"What's troubling you aside from hunger?" he asked.

"Nothing," I said, opening the fridge. It was empty but for bottled of water.

"The food is right here," he said, indicating the bowl of bibimbap in front of him.
"Sit beside me. We'll sort out your worries. Don't be shy."

Reluctantly, I did as he said. "Well?" he urged me to speak up.

I grabbed the bibimbap and began eating. Without noticing it, I was already telling him all about Suhyeon.
also disclosed all my rule-breaking at school.

"... so I don't really think she'll ever like me," I finished, my mouth full.

"You befriended the wrong people. If I were you, I'll leave that group and change.
Not only for her, but also for myself. Don't be afraid of what they'll say to you, you are only doing what is right,"
he advised, not scolding me for all my past misdeeds.

"That's something I learned after your mother left us because I had been such a horrible husband."

I stared. It was the first time he spoke of the time my mother left us when I was only eight.
He used to beat her until she got tired of it. After that, he changed and never used violence ever again.

"I can understand why you were attracted to join that group.
You never had a mother who will look after you and teach you manners.
It was the biggest mistake of my life but now I learned my lesson. You should do the
same; be a better person for the one you love."

"Thanks, Appa," I said gratefully, hugging him. "Good night!"

He patted me on the back. "Good night, son."

I returned to my room, feeling so much better.

I don't understand
How you caught the kindness syndrome
But it's okay if you sometimes
Break away from that stereotyped image
Break out (hey)
Break out (hey)
Break out (hey)
Break out (hey)
Ding ding ding ding
Dong dong dong dong

The next day, I came to school later than Onew, Jonghyun and Minho. I sat as far away from them as I could.

Yes, I'm avoiding them now. I don't want to be part of their group anymore.
I want to be a better person. For myself. For Suhyeon.

By breaktime, they approached me menacingly.
If my classmates were intrigued to see me apart from them for the first time,
it was nothing to how they are now because of the tension building up as they made their way
towards me. I could see Suhyeon amongst the audience, looking worried.

"What's happening to you, Key?" Onew asked me roughly. "You suddenly saw light?"

"Yeah, maybe," I replied calmly.

"So you want to quit now? Why? Because of that Suhyeon?" he said angrily.

"You're leaving us for a stupid girl?"

"I'm tired of your games, Onew. Bully me all you want, hurt me, I will never come back to your side."

"The girl you're crazy about is already with someone else!
Aren't you aware of it? She and Taemin are dating! Youleave us, you have nowhere else to go!"

"I don't care! I'm not only doing this for her, I'm doing this for myself!"

His face crumpled in rage. Next thing I knew, I was down on the floor, bleeding.
He had punched me on the nose. Our classmates gasped in horror.

"You are so going to regret this, traitor!" Onew said, storming out of the room with his remaining cronies.

Nobody dared approach me so I had to drag myself to the clinic and had my nose treated.

I knew all along that this would happen but if I really wanted to change,
the first thing I should do is to leave them to their wrongdoings.
Alright, I'd be alone for awhile but later on, I know I could find the right friends for me.

Honestly, I'm nervous
As to how you see me
You might, you just might
Have a good impression of me
I can't help but
Be on pins and needles
I can't turn away

Indeed, Onew had his sweet revenge on me. He knew instantly whom to target -- Suhyeon.

After classes, I stayed behind, looking over Suhyeon in case Onew tried to harm her.
Taemin was with her but I couldn't leave them because
Taemin looked like he wasn't capable of saving Suhyeon all by himself.

As I have expected, the Onew and his pals turned up. They closed in around her.
Minho easily pinned Taemin against the wall.
Jonghyun took away her things and Onew began harassing her.

"Leave us alone -- Taemin -- help --" she whimpered.

I ran quickly and pulled Onew away from her.

"I knew it, he'll come to save her," he said contemptuously and the two others chuckled appreciatively.

Jonghyun grabbed me from behind and Onew punched me on the stomach.

Minho somehow slackened his grip on Taemin so he was able to break free.

"Run, Suhyeon!" he yelled and he ran off alone.

"What are you doing Suhyeon?! RUN!" I told her but she didn't move.

"Let him go!" she screamed. "Leave us alone!"

"Okay, if you say so," he said.

"Come on, boys,"
he said but there was a look in him that I disliked. He wouldn't give up easily like that.

They took our bags  on their way out.

"Hey! Give them back!" I bellowed.

Onew merely stuck his tongue out at me like a small child and slammed the door shut in my face.
We were locked up inside the classroom (which was four floors up).

"HEY!" I pounded on the door. "Open it! Let us out!"

"See you tomorrow! Have a nice evening there!"
he shouted through the door. "Good night!"

"Aish, now what are we going to do?!" I said, frustrated.
"I'm sorry. You shouldn't be here. It's all my fault. They only
did this because I left their stinking group. I'm really sorry."

I can see how she was trying to stop her tears because of the situation we were in.
"I know. Thank you for saving me, by the way."

"Not really. We're locked up in here, you see."

"However, you came to save me. Even before, I know you have something good inside here,"
she said, pointing at my chest.

"I saw your attempts to protect me from his assault even when you were still part of their group. Thank you."

Complicated girl
Please don't respond with a 'no'
I'm a pretty decent guy
But I might go crazy
Silly girl (silly girl)
You're my miracle
If I could only have you
I don't need anything else

"I guess we'll just have to wait for tomorrow ..."
I said, looking out of the darkening window.

"Yes. There's nothing more we could do at the moment."

I was at the back of the room and she was at the other side.
Perhaps she was afraid I might do something to her now that we were alone together but I wouldn't even think of it.
All we could do at the moment was to talk.

"Can I ask you something?"

"What is it?"

"It is kind of ... personal."

"Okay. What is it?"

"Erm ... Are you and ... Taemin ...?"

"No. He likes me, though, that's why he's always coming with me.
But I don't like him the way he does to me."

"Why? You like someone else."

"Yes, I think I do."

"Who?"

"That, I can't tell." She smiled at me weakly.

"Okay." I shrugged. Surely someone better than me. What a life ...

"Why did you leave their group?"

"I want to change for myself and for ..."

"For?"

"You."

She merely looked at me. I got up from my seat an approached her tentatively.

"Ever since that day I -- well -- poured glue over your things --"

"You didn't. Onew did."

"Well, yeah -- back then, I -- ugh, cheesy. Never mind."

"Go on."

"Well ... when I met you, I wanted to put an end to my misdeeds. You're kinda like -- uh -- miracle to me.
You made me want to change myself so you'll like me ..."
I continued awkwardly. "I like you, Suhyeon. Not really -- I love you,"
I said sincerely, looking at her straight in the eyes.

Baby
You stop my heart, oh crazy
So pretty, I can't stand it, oh crazy
I don't need anything else, crazy
Why am I like this?

Early in the morning, the janitor discovered us imprisoned inside the room. I was only in my undershirt because I
used my polo as blanket for Suhyeon, who had been using my lap as a pillow.

"Why were you here? Who locked you in?"

Together, we were brought to the Principal's Office and there,
we explained what happened the previous night.

"Onew tried to harass her and Taemin couldn't do anything because they had him pinned against the wall.
He was able to escape in the end which left us two to deal with him.
Suhyeon told them to leave us alone, and they did, but they locked us in without our things so we couldn't call for help."

"How could I trust you, Key?" the Principal asked.
"You are part of their group, aren't you?"

"No, sir. Actually, they did this to him because he left them days ago," Suhyeon testified.

"Please, sir, we're telling the truth."

"If so, then this is a serious misdeed. Onew, Jonghyun and Minho had to be punished for what they did. At least
suspend them for a month," the Principal decided.

"I'll send both your parents a letter explaining what happened.
I'll let you two skip classes just for today."

When we came out of the office after an hour, we met Onew, Jonghyun and Minho.
They were looking daggers at me but I ignored them. They deserved the punishment.

"Before, I thought that being with them made me cool but now I realized how wrong I was. Thanks to you,"
said, holding her hand.

We gonna go rocka rocka
rocka rocka rocka
So fantastic
So elastic

Taemin seemed ashamed for leaving us behind to save himself so he approached us to say sorry.

"I did tell you to run, but you didn't," he reasoned out.

"It's alright, Taemin. I understand," Suhyeon told him.

I was only restraining myself from hitting him, the coward bastard. "We should go now, Suhyeon," I said, instead.

"Before the Principal take back his word about letting us skip classes for today."

"'Bye, Taemin. Have a nice day." Suhyeon waved at him kindly.

"You really are incredible," I mumbled.
"Seriously, you could still smile at him like that after he left us to save his own skinny self?"

She simply laughed.

I stode along the red carpet, wearing my best suit.
Years after my bullying days, I am now here, a better person than before.
I stopped when I reached the front and looked back.

There, framed by the high and wide door, stood the most beautiful girl I have ever known,
the very person who changed me to be who I am now.

She was wearing her best dress, white and flowing.
She, to, strode along the red carpet, bearing a bouquet of flowers.

The bells rang.

The church bells.

After what seemed a long time, she reached me and I took her hand from her tearful parents.
Behind me, my father patted my back, smiling encouragingly.

Together, Suhyeon and I faced the altar, exchanging vows we'll
keep for the rest of our lives, 'till death do we part.

Kyaa~! What have I done to Onew?! He's really mean here! Right after his lovable character in One! Jonghyun
and Minho are as well! And Taemin appeared to be a very coward guy! :S
I've got nothing against any of them. you knows that right? Don't bash me, please? I'm only doing
my work .. I intended to change the expected characteristics. No diva attitude, no chicken present. I'm a
pureblood Shawol and most especially an MVP! XD

And you must know, those ROCKA ROCKA, FANTASTIC ELASTIC, and RING DING DONG parts challenged me a
lot! It was fun writing this song fic. There's also some unexplainable feeling because of what I did to the
characters (esp. to ONEW, my yeobo!) Not to mention the pressure after the beautiful review we just had :D

So, what do you think? OA? Lame? Boring? Whatever you think, just put in your comments ^^

Thanks a lot for reading! Mwahugs :*
