Hold Your Horses

My All For You

I awoke just before the sun began to appear on the horizon. Finding a new tooth brush and tube of toothpaste, I began to brush my teeth and freshen up for the day. I stopped as I washed my face, staring into my eyes as water dripped off my chin. Something was awfully bothering me. I had a strange dream, or perhaps it was a vision, last night that kept me tossing and turning. By the time I was fully awake and dressed in my uniform, the dream had faded from my mind but it continued its relentless hold on me. I could have sworn I saw Taehyung's face in one of my visions. I shook my head, not wanting to accept the fact that I had a dream about that guy. Coming downstairs, I noticed that neither Rap Monster nor Suga had their uniforms on and became confused. "Good morning," I said quietly, causing the two to look up at me as I walked down the stairs.

"Good morning, Jiae," Rap Monster replied, while Suga simply gave me a head nod in reply. "The uniform sure suits you well."

"Thanks," I said, tugging on my skirt slightly as I scanned the two up and down. "How come you guys aren't in uniform?"

The two looked at each other before Rap Monster let out a soft chuckle. "It's Saturday. There's no classes today."

I gaped slightly, furrowing my brows as I was a bit upset no one informed me of this. Though I don't think it would have really mattered. I had no other clothes to wear. "Oh, I see. Well, uh, what should I do then? I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do as a new student."

Walking up to me, Rap Monster held out his hand and grinned. "I'll be escorting you today. I'll show you the ropes of the school and show you the entire campus so you know where every thing is."

I smiled before placing my hand in his, taking the last few steps down to the ground. "That's awfully kind of you," I replied, glancing aside shyly. "Thank you."

"He is the student council president for a reason," Suga murmured, opening the front door. "I'm going to go meditate. See you guys in a few hours." He left without even the slightest glance backwards. Rap Monster looked over to me and gestured for us to go and I obliged. Though as soon as we left the house, I retracted my hand from his, a bit unaccustomed to the gesture. As we walked to the main school building, I received several dirty looks and sighed. Oh, bother. Children, really, every last one of them.

"So, where are we going first?" I asked, holding my hands behind my back.

"The principal's office. We have to straighten out your information first before you're officially admitted to the school," Rap Monster explained, opening the building door for me.

"Oh. Okay. Is the principal nice?" I continued questioning, a bit uneasy about meeting a figure of authority. "What's his name?"

Rap Monster smiled, almost a smile of content with a mixture of playfulness, as we walked down the main hallway to a pair of double doors at the end. "Her name is Jung Jessica. She's twenty-five, and a daughter of Zeus."

My eyes widened, looking up at him. "Daughter of Zeus? ... You mean-"

"Yup. Meet the principal, Jiae. My sister," Rap Monster announced as he opened the double doors, revealing a beautiful woman sitting at a large desk. The room looked strikingly similar to the presidential office in America with big windows and book shelves all around. There were piles of paperwork neatly organized on her desk and a bald eagle was seated on a wooden perch beside her. Looking up, the woman removed her glasses and smiled slightly. Her expression sent shivers down my spine. Her smile was warm but her eyes were cold as ice, a complete contradiction to each other. It was as if a warm and cold front were battling it out before the start of a raging storm.

"Hello, brother. What's brought you here?" Jessica greeted, a smile on her face. Rap Monster walked over to her and gave her a hug before smacking him over the head. I blinked at the sudden action, completely shocked something like that just happened. "Yah, you little brat. Shouldn't you be at horse riding practice."

Rap Monster rubbed the back of his head in pain, pouting at his sister. "But, that's so boring. All we ever do is ride around on the horses and 'explore' Olympus. I've explored Olympus more than enough in my life time," he whined, glancing over to me. "And besides, we have a new student. So I thought I'd show her around."

"New student?" Jessica furrowed her brows, pulling on her brother's ear. "Yah, I didn't hear of no new student. Don't you go lying to-"

She finally stopped yelling at her brother and looked over to me, blinking rapidly before she let go of Rap Monster, straightening herself up and crossing her legs, sitting in a professional manner. "H-hello there. I didn't notice you come in with Namjoon. I'm Jung Jessica, the principal. You are?"

"Yoo Jiae," I replied, timidly approaching her desk.

"Oh, don't be frightened by what you just saw. I'm really nice. I promise."

Rap Monster scoffed and Jessica glared at him, pointing her finger at him and causing a small spark of electricity to fly at him. Rap Monster jumped away from the spark, though he knew full well it wouldn't have even tickled him. He was just really scared of his sister. Jessica turned back to me and smiled again, earning an awkward and slightly terrified smile from myself.

"Well, welcome to Olympus. I'll give you some paperwork to fill out and then you'll be all set. You can turn it into me within the week. If you have any questions, you can ask me," Jessica continued, handing me a small portfolio of papers.

"Or me," Rap Monster jumped in.

Jessica slapped her hand onto Rap Monster's chest and grabbed a handful of shirt in her hand, pursing her lips tightly. "Brother. Please. Let me do my job."

She let go and Rap Mosnter bounded towards me, taking me by the wrist and leading me out of the room. Looking back, I saw Jessica wave good bye before her eagle flew over to the doors and closed them for her. Rap Monster seemed eager to leave the room. By the time he stopped moving, we were both outside of the building. He slumped down onto the ground and groaned. "God, she's so serious. Really needs to loosen up a bit," he complained, kicking his feet. I pursed my lips, unsure of what to say. I patted him on the shoulder for comfort and he looked up at me with tired eyes. "I think I might have one of the other council members show you around. Encounters with my sister wear me out." He stood up and brushed himself off.

I raised a brow, genuinely curious about the two's relationship. "Do you really hate your sister that much?" I asked.

Rap Monster looked at me rather dumbfounded. "Hate her? Oh, no, I love my sister. It's just... how do I say it? It's physically draining. I think it may have to do something with the fact that we're both Zeus children. We practically feed off of each other's energy." Rap Monster shuddered, shaking the thought out of his head. "You'll even see it at the dorm. The Zeus kids' rooms are all really spread out, and even then, Jessica doesn't even stay in the dorm. She stays in the teachers' quarters." Rap Monster inhaled sharply and let out a long sigh, tucking his hands into his pocket. "Whatever. Come on. Let's go look around a bit and maybe we'll run into a council member."

We began walking around the outside of the main school building, exploring everything the campus had to offer. There was an archery range, where most of the Artemis and Apollo kids were training. I once again locked eyes with Taehyung when we stopped to check out the practice. Taehyung's gaze never left mine as he shot off an arrow, the arrow itself lodging into the bullseye. Though he was expressionless throughout the whole process, he soon snarled at me as if he were disgusted before looking away and continuing his practice. I scoffed, a tad bit offended by the gesture. Rap Monster asked me what was wrong but I shrugged it off and told him to continue with the tour. Though I wondered where Jin and J-Hope were. Jin was probably at the nurse's office again, but where was J-Hope?

Though we passed by the horse and pegasus stables, Rap Monster hurried me by, scared he would get caught by the instructor. We passed by the lake and stopped at the rock climbing walls. Rap Monster told me they would usually turn the walls on to challenge the students, but for today they were on their idle setting so that the little tykes and new demigods could try the wall. I was fascinated to see that one of the main instructors for the course happened to be Jeongguk. Man, could that boy climb. He jumped from stone to stone, climbing that wall as if he had spidey senses. It was as if he had just flown to the top of the wall. Stopping at the top and taking a seat so he could talk to the kids, he looked down to me and Rap Monster, sticking his tongue out at me. I furrowed my brows and began pushing Rap Monster away from the place, wanting to leave immediately before I climbed up there and got him down myself.

Soon we came to the pool where many of the students were enjoying the sun, swimming, and having fun. Around the pool, you could see many of the Apollo kids and Aphrodite kids tanning and what not. Someone blew a whistle loudly and pointed to Rap Monster and I. I looked up at the lifeguard perched on the chair, surprised to see Jimin sitting up there. He stood up and climbed down, making his way over to us. My jaw dropped to the ground at the sight of his shirtless body. The way his body glistened with sweat and his hair was perfectly swooped to one side. As he approached us, he slipped a hand on my cheek, whispering a soft and low, "Hey-"

I pursed my lips and inhaled deeply, putting my arms in and x-shape before me as to make some space between, though there already was a low fence between us. "Vestal !" I shouted, a bit too loud. I looked away, trying not to make eye contact with him. He looked around at all the eyes on them, his hand still hovering in mid air.

He blinked several times, attempting to make out words but failing to make them audible. He scratched the back of his head in confusion, and looked around. "Ah, o-okay," he replied, glancing over at Rap Monster who was currently bent over and snickering loudly. "I don't really know how to react. I've never had my seductions rejected before." He pointed back to the pool. "Uh, I guess I'll go back to work then. See you around, Jiae, Rap Mon." Rap Monster attempted to say bye, though he couldn't help but start laughing softly to himself. I hurried away, covering my face in embarrassment and fanning myself. Damned Aphrodite child. I cursed myself for letting his genes and powers get to me and continued to walk away.

"Well, I think that was about it," Rap Monster concluded, stopping as we arrived at the courtyard. "Any questions?"

"Actually I-"

"There you are!" A feminine voice shouted, stomping over to Rap Monster.

Rap Monster visibly cringed at the voice, not wanting to turn around. "," he muttered, freezing as if that would help him become invisible to the person.

The young woman grabbed him by the ear and pulled hard, making him cry out in pain. "I've been looking everywhere for you. How dare you skip horse riding practice?" She scolded, glancing over and looking me up and down. "And to go on a date, too? Unacceptable!"

"Actually-" I tried to help by interuptting her.

"I'm not on a date! She's a new student," Rap Monster argued, trying to pull at the woman's wrist but she refused to let go. "Miss Sojin please, ow. That hurts!"

"Shut up. You're coming back to horse riding practice and staying over time with me," Sojin muttered as she dragged Rap Monster away. I blinked, afraid to say anything as I waved good bye to Rap Monster.

Once the two were gone, I sighed softly and rubbed my temples. For someone who has lived for so long, I wasn't sure I could get used to this kind of life. Most of my lives had been pretty peaceful and quiet, but this one so far has been quite the ruckus. Closing my eyes for a few seconds, I started to walk slowly on the grass. I absent mindedly tripped over something, or someone, and fell onto the grass, a jolt of pain shooting throughout my body. I rolled over and gripped my abdomen where it still ached a bit.

"Sorry," I groaned softly, feeling the need to apologize to whatever I tripped on.
